Wait a sec. IIRC you live with a “chemist” and have a composite patchwork cat? Do you have an aversion to fire and/or love of soothing violin music? Are there bolts holding your head on? Do you often find yourself saying “Fools! I’ll show them!” or laughing maniacally? Are you the mad scientist or the monster?

Of course, on the internet, it doesn’t matter!

Probably more of a Blucher capacity.

Commissar painting little mini commissar, I like it!

Dragons fear nothing, if it acts up, we breath magic fire that turns them into marshmallow peeps. We leaguers only cry rivets!

Not a modelling post per-se, but something I feel worth noting.

Well the other day was a day of mixed emotions. A good friend of mine died, and her sister has asked me to have first refusal of all her old art materials whenever she came across them.
Most recently she came across a bounty of beautiful inks and pigments. More than I could indeed use in a lifetime myself. Some of these are hand mixed. All are airbrush suitable.

I plan on applying them to my most recent purchase. I treated myself to the beautiful (and rather disturbing) Keeper of Secrets from Forgeworld.
I have no plans to buy more miniatures this year, just a codex and some conversion parts. I mainly got him in case the AoS storyline causes any major revisions to Slaanesh, and an inspection of the larger models.
It’s an absolute sod of a model. Everything from fingernails to studs on the legs and arms are separate.

Oh no worries, it wasn't recent. Very sad and unjust, but nearly 9 years now.

The KoS? Just for laughs, I got him out for you.

For starters:

This is actually wrong, the spike sprues are not like that any more. Split into four for some reason.

Okay, so study this carefully? You'll see there are dimples on the bent leg.

What're those? They're indents for you to drill and set spikes into.

No, I'm not joking. Mordian for scale.

They also go here:

And here:

Oh right, the hand?

Bonus:

I would say that outside the Thunderhawk and titans, this is easily the most ridiculous Forgeworld kit I've ever seen in terms of assembly and transportation.

This is my big treat of the year though. I want to paint this guy with petroleum rainbow colours in his scales, and ashy charcoal base, with lava flooding out from cracks in the earth.
You'll notice that his jaw is the smallest part, and it's roughly the size of the Mordian.
Do click and do zoom, the skin is magnificent.

I sympathise. I have a Necron centipede beastie thing. That's not a small job either! Got all the legs and body sections to put together! Though all the spikes on the KoS is nuts...

If the spikes can be drilled and set using the posts on them, I would actually quite enjoy doing it. If that's venting and they snap off super easy instead, I may put him at the back of my queue.

The odd thing is I know they could have included at least some of the spikes, as since the instructions were printed, the inner wrist spikes are not separate. Casting has improved dramatically it seems.

But yeah, I'd have still bought him. Just not sure that I would have done it right now.

Heh, you know, I have seen about 6 KoS on the table, and never realized they were supposed to have spikey legs. I am guessing you are not the first to look at them and think "Oh, hell no."

Awww, that's actually pretty sad.
I'm pretty excited to stud mine up. Though I'm not happy about fixing the sword pommel, hair or claws.

The hair is supposed to be a nightmare as you have to warm it in hot water to bend it into position for each piece.

Looking forward to seeing you work on her and the dragon though.

I'm really hoping to get a dark and oily but shimmering effect on his scales, like a puddle of diesel. I'm a little unsure how to give that definition though, I don't want a one-trick pony of the shimmer paint. Perhaps have ash and weathering powders across his belly and feet, as he walked across the ashy earth.

Where though?
I want to do so many things. I want it to have a hot magma belly, but petrol scales, and ashy extremities. I think really I need two dragons.

Ok, petrol scales. Magma fleshy bits, like a molten core, even have grey skin with a molten glow coming through. THEN weather with ash.

The painting possibilities sound interesting.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

You know how I was saying that Keeper of Secrets was second only to a fething Warhound in difficulty.

I guess my friend wanted to test that theory. I’ve taken on his dogbot. Open ended sort-of commission. He's going to cover the tools I need, and I get to build a titan.

'Dogbot' - bwhahahahah - perfect! Chaos or Imperial?? I'm really wanting to get the Chaos Warhound......at.some.point.!!! Can't really have it shipped to korea though as the import/customs charges would kick the price into the stratosphere.....*sigh* someday

Imperial. I like the Chaos one much more as well, apart from the screamjing shinpad. I really like the Chaos Reaver over the Imperial too.

Speaking of shipping, I've got those Tanith ready to send, but I managed to find you a Larkin (he was part of a large infantry lot I wanted) so I'm just waiting on him as a hitch hiker.
