Thanks Hanabi, but I'm afraid the TSons are gonna get shelved for a while because I've been accumulating more 40k marines to add to the 4th, as well as this predator. But before I do that I may well paint some MEdge for an aesthetical break, and I found the rest of the trench guard squad, which I thought I'd lost a year or two ago, so they may well be getting some paint.

So the way I envision it is that this is the 4th in maybe 920.M41, shortly after the raptors were pulled out of the Badab war due to heavy casualties. The predator 'Numina's will' has a small skull for every Badab army vehicle it killed and one large skull to represent killing a renegade astartes predator. That's also why it's in urban camo whereas the rest have switched back to the standard olive drab, it's not been repainted yet. What questions that raises when they fight say, guilliman or Magnus, who only came back to the materium in 999.M41, are best left unasked.

Honestly I really like it when people add things like sandbags, reactive armour or kill markings to vehicles. Makes it look more realistic

I'm gonna be getting dark imperium and adding the primaries marines to the 4th to flesh out the numbers, so as for the fluff, let's say it's taken them a very long time to properly regain their numbers.
As for painting, I'm joining the 'OMG 8th is coming' painting push buy antigreying some assault marines and scouts. The base green is done and the base fabrics. I even got some camo done.

Done all the camo, the black tenth company marking for the right pauldron, plus the black on 2.5 boots.

The scouts are nearing completion, but work today on all things green was stopped by the arrival of Dark Imperium. I'm going for the look favoured by all Hollywood posters, contrasting blue and orange on the nurgle forces, both to give myself a break from green things and because arrayed on the table top green vs slightly different green doesn't look good. I'm using the Lord of Contagion and the Primaris Ancient as test models for the forces, and I practiced on a poxwalker to see if I could maybe get them done and in such a way they tie into the blue. I mostly followed Duncan's battle ready tutorial, with a little more done on the horns and weapon, plus adding some nurgle's rot to the blood for the blood god.

That colour scheme is awesome. I love the whole thing, but the worn out metal fly just looks so cool. I definitely need to buy that box.

I've done the rusted metal parts, look it up on Warhammer TV if you want to know how it's done. I think I probably should have waited until I'd done the metal to put the nuln oil over the armour, because now I have to maccragge blue the spots of ryza rust all over the armour and re-nuln oil it before starting the highlight of calgar blue.

Quick update, I've just seen the Reivers, looks like once I'm done with dark imperium and the other ten or so models that need paint, my wallet is going to take another bashing because oh man do they fit with the Raptor way of war. And I was just planning ahead to some tau or Guard.

So I touched up the tank crew and glued the driver in, gave proper highlights as Duncan prescribed, and drilled the barrel of the pistol, as well as drilling the scouts' weapons and giving them some face paint, because why wear camo when your pale raven guard skin is on show? The images still seem kinda blurry but if viewed in gallery once zoomed in they seem ok. Nice work on the camouflage, it's just bright enough to be noticeable but still looks really nice and gritty. Although you might want another recess shade of dark wash on the gunner's red shoulder pad.

I finished the stealth suits in the new colour scheme, did the final, absolute touches to the crew, no more touch up of the predator, and got the skin of ten more poxwalkers done.

Photos are fine dude, i've never had issues with the Dakka photo gallery.

Minis are looking great too, really like tge poses on tge suits and the orange lenses look great.

I was playing a game and we noticed that scout sergeants can take items from the sergeant item list, which is free upgrades when paying power levels. Which means scout sergeants can, if you want, take thunder hammers. For free. And since I had one lying around, why not?

Haha, I hadn't noticed that either. I don't run scouts normally, unless I decide to take a 5-man unit and stick them in a land speeder, but i might have to give one a thunder hammer. Or a power fist...

The whole free gear with PL thing is making me very conflicted. I’m normally very stingy with upgrades, being a firm believer in "boys before toys”. I’d rather have more boots on the ground then a few tricked out ones. And my collection reflects that. (with a few exceptions like my plasma pistol/powerfist assault sarge) But now the temptation to gear everyone up to the gills, just for PL games is quite strong.

Because as you say, why not thunder hammers?

Nice work on the OSL. Might be a little bright, but that’s what overcharging will get you. Very impressive to get that done with a fuzzy stick. Most OSL is airbrushed. Or done by people who have sold their souls to fell powers for painting talent.

Trust me, Scouts with close combat weapons are awesome. Especially with Plasma weapons, Wolf Scouts can take 4 of them in a six man squad

I played a game today with my scouts.
Sargent Thunder Hammer killed three custodian guard in combat and was given a field promotion to captain of the tenth company.
