Overclocked R4 seems like a straight up buff to 4 TLTs. All green 3 maneuvers with the unhinged are awesome but it was mostly just a placeholder for one point. Now you can have a focus for both attacks with the TLT and you don't even have to take the stress in the activation phase. You can shoot your first shot, and if it's naturally good, you don't have to spend your focus and take a stress for another focus. On the other hand, now for one point you can have an ability that is in some ways better than Push the Limit for generics for only 1 point and guarantees you never roll 3 eyeballs and regret spending your focus ever again. Who cares if you can only do a 1 or 2 green straight after that? Y-wings were never maneuverable to begin with and you brought them for TLTs that don't care about arc. Most of the time Y-wings are going to be doing 1 straight maneuvers anyway.

You raise a fair point. One problem with this is that it makes them a lot more vulnerable to arc dodgers and stress control.

Indeed. I was looking at this with Wes and Wedge - I like to boost both's pilot skill, but ideally I want Wes to 'jump' wedge and shoot first (so he can peel off tokens). Veteran instincts on one and adaptability on the other is nice.
And yes, it pairs well with anyone who specifically wants the option to 'fire last' - you can drop pilot skill, but you don't have to stick with it between games if you have a matchup where it won't help (say, on a mangler cannon vs Chewbacca).
It's also potentially useful if you actually want to make someone move first so they can't be blocked.
Vader & Juno seems like a nice pairing as noted. Two PS8s are easier to fly, but Vader can switch to PS10 if he needs to.
The main thing is that there's no downside. So anyone whos EPT isn't a big part of 'making them work' can be +1 PS if they're not anything else. Which makes sense; I paid points for that damn slot, I might as well use it.
If nothing else, it's essentially a free +1PS for Green Squadron.
The overclocked R4.... yeah, the agromech is better; target lock is broadly better than focus for any TLT carrier - the damn things are so unwieldy green dice rolls are largely irrelevant.
BUT they still might help. TLTs will often be firing at range 3, where you've got 2 green dice. A focus might save you a point of damage, and you've still got a focus to fire back with. You'll need to clear off the stress, of course, but it does save you a couple of points. Most importantly, you can field four thugs with overclocked astromechs and twin laser turrets.
It's also potentially useful for Torpedo Jumpmasters, especially Dengar. Deadeye lets you fling off torpedoes with just a focus token, which is why a recon specialist is tempting.
With an overclocked R4, Dengar can fire one torp with his action focus, get his focus back, and be ready with the second torp.....and still have his crew slot free. A Jumpmaster has plenty of green (as long as you turn left!) and scum have some pretty damn nice crew available, and with Predator and a white Segnor's loop, it's not catastrophic even if you use it twice and miss a turn's actions.
One problem with this is that it makes them a lot more vulnerable to arc dodgers and stress control.
It does. But a Twin Laser Turret - at the moment - is flinging unmodified dice much of the time. If I can get one turn where I use a focus token to hit with both attacks and dodge a point or two of incoming damage, I don't care I've got four stress tokens stacked up. Yes, I'm never going to take an action with that ship again, but who the hell cares? You can use it once a turn as a cheap R4 Agromech, or throw caution to the wind and use it for one turn as a cheap version of Glitterstim.
It's much like BTL-A4 rebels with R3-A2. Sooner or later just accept that you're never getting rid of all that stress and stop caring; if the Y-wing has a target and three people are firing at it, burn as much focus as you can. If it survives, go Hoorah, do white maneuvers and don't even try to clear the stress; you've got a turret anyway so hang worrying about arcs of fire.
It adds a bit more strategy and risk management to using a TLT y-wing. Which makes them more interesting to fly, and to fly against. Which I approve of.

Jumpmaster does a green, acquires a TL thanks to K4 droid; takes a Focus action. Spends Focus to fire Proton Torpedoes, takes a stress to receive a Focus token. You now have TL and Focus on your Proton Torpedoes, along with Guidance Chips. 4 red dice, with a reroll. Automatically turn one die from Focus to Crit (for Proton Torpedoes) and any die to a Hit from Guidance Chips.
Freelancer tries to throw people onto rocks or into firing arcs, and since they're all at the same (low) PS you can choose who to fire first each turn.
Might be fun.

37only difference is you don't have the stress and there's no way you can be denied the target lock ( range or whatever)
Interesting and probably the most common builds we'll see on the scouts

I like this build better, since it does not stress you, and does not limit you to green maneuvers.
Edit:
Also, you could replace the proton Torps with Plasmas to keep the Gand unchanged. Since you will already be focused, you are just taking a slight hit (losing the crit) against unshielded opponents, for a slight boost vs. Shielded ones.

There are a few other small differences, but yeah, for 1 point your build is probably better. The main other difference is that the K4 lets you TL anyone, whereas the regular R4 Agro only lets you TL the defender. Granted, in my example you're taking the K4 TL on the target anyway, but I guess it's a consideration if you don't need to TL the defender specifically.

I generally prefer Proton to Plasma (though Plasmas are still good). I would rather take the extra crit against unshielded over potentially stripping an extra shield. I'm curious what impact Guidance Chips will have on Plasma, since Protons with GC have a good chance to hit/crit with all 4 dice. (Focus to Crit for Protons and blank/focus to hit/crit for GCs)

I worry about 2 dice attacks being able to clean anything up, but your bases are big enough, you should get some good 3 dice attacks with TL

So my Wave 8 order just showed up and holy cow, the Ghost is huge! More to the point, it seems so big because it appears to have been scaled correctly to fit in with the fighters (which makes sense since the shuttle is also modelled onto the rear of the ship). When you compare the size of the cockpit, turret and hatches with what you see on the Falcon, you realise how much they scaled it down..

Proxied this a while back. The first few turn were just ridiculous brutal. 3 Hits if my rolling sucked. usually 4. Palpmobile goes down pretty hard and Soontir WILL lose his stealth device.
The drawback is that if you have dice fail or the other guy gets enough evades or can get inside the Torp donut hole, your main gun is not that great (2 shot turret) .
Your Alfa and Bravo strikes are awesome...but your cleanup afterward is lacking.
You can also drop Boba Fett on 1. Shoot the other 2 first to strip shields, then use the 3rd with Fett to try for the crit. Really great if you can swipe Palp off a Deci or Gunner/Luke from Han in that first shooting turn. No real need against smaller ships (stealing the regen droid or TLT). If you've already tank the shields your more than likely going to kill the ship with the 2nd or 3rd Torp anyways.

Just walked into my local store during lunch, had the dude get me 1 of each ship before he even finished unboxing the shipment and my friend did the same. Then someone called the shop asking if they could hold some for him, the dude at the register handed the phone to me saying that some guys just cleared out most of the inventory. I picked up the phone, had a chat with this guy, at the end of it I said "Best of luck to you getting these ships". He replied, "Thanks, grats to both of you!"
And now I'm waiting for my shift to be over so I can go enjoy these puppies.

Yeah I made sure to have the ship I want in particular held for me. I eventually would like to get every ship from the wave of course, but right now, the only one I really want is the Advanced Prototype. I feel like I'll need the Mist Hunter for the tractor beam and adaptability eventually (and it looks fun to fly) so if it's there I'll grab it, but I can take or leave the large ones for now.
Feels weird not to want every ship in a wave right off the hop...Something must be wrong with me.

So, some thoughts from the first game I played last night. My girlfriend used Dengar in the Punishing One and Zuckuss in the Mist Hunter, I used a very fluffy Ghost aided by Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors in the HWK.
Some things of note:
Zuckuss's pilot ability is really good, especially against the obvious targets of the Ghost, Decimator, and things with low agility.
Punishing One, especially Dengar, has some pretty good damage output, and is decently survivable. My girlfriend isn't even the most experienced player and she hasn't played in awhile, but damn did he hurt.
The Ghost is super fun, but is not as powerful as I thought. Realistically speaking, it's easy to take down. Once the Phantom is deployed, it loses a huge chunk of its firepower. The Ghost in general has a very nice attack, but it's cost + upgrades will typically make it cost too much for the amount of damage it causes.
Also, Reinforced Deflectors are a waste of points in my honest opinion. I'd much rather take a Fire Control System or something, since most of the time you're going to want to Evade with the Ghost.
