Yeah, I do want all those forcepacks, but without double forces the value is pretty bad. I don't care much about the coins and swag and the rest of the pledge is about the same as retail pricing, slightly higher...
Before VAT and shipping that is... then it is 30-40% more expensive even...
I hope they somehow add gameplay value or I might just wait for retail.

Yep im in for now but the swag coins posters etc are not what I want - I want minis - so this may be one I drop I guess we shall see.

Force packs are AUD$50 in Oz, hard to find in bulk, and you never know when something will be out or be in stock.

12 of them would be AUD$600 before you add the Merc Boxed Set.

Seems like a good deal to me...

Same in Japan. Shipping is going to be a beast, but I cannot buy Btech packs anywhere within the country currently.

To expand on that a little, the add-ons include basically everything released to date, so if you want either the Classic playstyle or Alpha Strike, you can get a full set up to whatever your budget is in one hit, along with whatever trinkets take your fancy

Last time around, you could buy pretty much anything Catalyst makes through Backerkit as an add-on.

I threw in a couple books I was missing, because it's only money.

So the highest game Kickstarters topped out at $12m. Exploding Kittens made $8m. Zombiecide Green horde got over $5m. Invader got $3.3m.

What are they going to do to keep the earn rate up?

Almost two million dollars in and all we ACTUALLY get is one extra salvage box per pledge. Everything else is illusory.

The 'unlocks' were already completed content we knew about, and everything else is a download.
At 2 million we get advanced news of a product to be released retail. Yay.

We are closing in on the endgame for Clan Invasion and that got extra mechs and double force packs.

I think we backers are gorging ourselves out of a future meal.

Remember that most backers will back now, especially as we get the Visigoth, there will be a desert of backing the remaining month until the last 48 hours. We are in danger of front loading this too much and never getting double force packs.

I don't think that will happen. Frosthaven sold to a much larger crowd, this product is for niche nerds the vast majority are on the CBT forums or Sarna. Very few Battletech players will not know of this and a heavy proportion will back today or cant afford to back.
There will be fresh blood trying Battletech for the first time from the computer game community, but I dont think that is a lot of people, I think most Battletech players are already alert to this.

Now I cannot critique Catalyst for their marketing, but I do believe this project will ride in with the storm but only offer a continued drizzle of funds afterwards.
By my guess this campaign will reach a little over 4 million at campaign end. It would always make more than Clan Invasion because Mercs are a bigger draw and Clan Invasion was a vanguard for new mechs, up until that point we had seen only crappy produst from Catalyst when it came to actual miniatures. But I do think we will get well over half the pledges today.

Jeebus, I was expecting 1.5mil to be the slowdown point for day one. Colour me surprised and impressed. Hopefully they didn't underplan on stretch goals with the expectation of it only doing around the same level as the Clans KS.

Backed at the Battalion level. After the headache of actually finding the force packs in the wild for retail, I figure I'll get what I actually want this time rather than leave it to chance. If the post 2mil stretch goals are where the extras start piling up, then I'm cool with that, but I don't much mind paying close to retail for the guarantee of actually getting the things I want. I'm also glad they've removed a lot of the stuff that caused the Clan KS to become a -show in places (goodbye terrible and awkward canon characters, may ye never return).

Well, they've got a couple of weeks to crash together something to encourage higher spending in the currently pledged bods.

How many of the 1200 veterans can they entice up to company, or similar

I've heard that the conventional wisdom is that a KS will do 33% of its funding in the first 48 hours, 33% in the final 48 hours, and the final 33% in the intervening period. If this is true we could be looking at a $6 to $7 million Kickstarter
