Yeah. The bad guy in SAO2 got really went off the deep end this last episode. In case anyone is still yet to watch and plans too...
Spoiler:
I mean before it was about monetizing mind control and wanting to get the girl, but he had some form of standards where he wasn't going to force her. Then suddenly screw that, I'm going to rape you here in the virtual world, and when I'm done, I'm going to go rape your comatose body in the real world too. Let me lick up your sweet delicious tears!
I THINK there was a threat of death in that last fight. Bad Guy made a comment that as pain level 3 it would start to effect your real body. He seemed to imply that he would basically torture his mind till his body died. Good Guy then turns the pain level all the way up to 1, and hacks Bad Guy apart piece by piece until he impales his face. I'm betting we find out Bad Guy either died in real life as a result, or is at least a vegetable now.
I've liked Season 2, but yes, not as good as Season 1.
I wish season one had gone on for double it's length. More awesome sword fighting, more adventures within the (fascinating) game world, more mushy romance that was undeniably cute and well done.
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

I agree. While not as good as season 1, I did not hate season 2. The resent stuff is mildly distasteful however. I guess the animators are just trying to make the guy as evil as they could.
Spoiler:
I could guess exactly were they were going as soon as the cuff appeared. After that, I was just hoping that the moment of unlocking hidden power would come sooner rather than later. It didn't.
There's quite a few but, these are more recent. Also some of them are endings, which many overlook.
Lyrics to this one are quite good. Pretty much about the struggle with the butterfly effect.

Spoiler:
With my vision confined,
I am unable to escape the unforgiving grasp of the Twelve.
Wishing for a tomorrow free from anxiety
I walk towards the plane of the precious event horizon in my grasp.
The pledge we made in captivity was a falsehood.
The universe of life, engraved a blind time
Spread your wings butterfly, you miraculous butterfly – I confer this unto you
A butterfly of tears, a brilliant butterfly
All will now be rewritten
Locked away in this windowless prison
I am unable to deny the scrutiny of the Twelve.
I can feel the warmth of life,
I seek it out, heading beyond the skewed truth.
A small, sadistic fracture appears on the inscribed contract,
as the sin of faith remains to guide life itself.
Spread your wings butterfly, you miraculous butterfly, I can feel that you are here.
A butterfly of tears, a brilliant butterfly
This convergence is unstoppable.
The more I resist this scenario forced upon me,
the more the sky ridicules me for my weakness.
The pledge we made in captivity was a falsehood.
The universe of life, engraved a blind time
Spread your wings butterfly, you miraculous butterfly – I confer this unto you
A butterfly of tears, a brilliant butterfly
All will now be rewritten
The denial of possiblity is a warning,
The Twelve exert their power in secrecy.
Sort of hard for any show to have Yuki Kajiura (FictionJunction, See-Saw, Kalafina) involved with the sound track and not be good.

You have some dam good taste. All of those songs minus Flying Humanoid and Muv Luv is on my play list. I just haven't seen Muv Luv or Flying Humanoid so I haven't heard those songs before. I'll watch them some day...

Whaaaaaat! Thats sooooo expensive. You can guess who will at least wait for it to drop in price. I quite like the music in that show so I probably end up getting it.
What's everyone's favorite opening themes since OSTs came up.
Through the Night from Outlaw Star takes the cake for me
closely followed by My Soul, Your Beats from Angel Beats!
Tabi No Tochuu from Spice and Wolf is another good one
and a classic
Lets see. I have quite the collection of anime openings on my Ipod.
If you liked Stiens;gates stuff, Chaos;head has much of the same artists music. Its the prequel after all.
Anything musical from Guilty Crown is amazing. This is the second opening.
Haibane Renmei is a beautiful anime. both haunting and captivating despite it technically being a slice of life.
Last one form me for now. Even though its not an opening, but an ending theme, I think its amazing still. It comes from Ano Hana and the song is literally sad enough to make me cry, let alone the anime.

I just finished watching Hellsing. Oh the blood, oh the gore, oh the humour. I mean damnnnnnnnnnnnn is there alot of gore. But for the most part its so over the top that I found it funny. But Hellsing is a pretty dark and edgy anime, but I enjoyed it alot.
I mean who doesn't want to watch genocidal sadistic Nazi vampires and extreme right-wing racist KKK Templar get raped by a Japanese speaking Transylvania born British vampires.

I might give Sword Art Online a watch. I like a good fantasy anime. From what I can tell of season 2 it sounds like they just want to make the villain as evil as possible as opposed to a generic "I'm gonna take you to my evil lair!" villain. I definately think that's a good idea-there is little worse than a supposedly serious series with a lame villain.

Thanks Flying Humanoid is the song name, the anime it's used in is Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin. It's sort of similar to Steins;Gate a little. Except the world ends on July 21st 1999. Have some Kotoko.
Zefig wrote: Sword Art Online season 2 continues to be a bit meh. Maybe it's the lack of the death-threat that makes things seem a bit less dramatic and makes them less inclined to explore the weird cultural and moral issues that spring up from it. Maybe it's the lack of interesting recurring supporting cast. Maybe it's because Asuna was turned into a macguffin.
Mostly, it's the stupid amount of incest and rape themes. Way to get creepy, guys.
that was my issue... for me SAO ended with S1, because it was amazing.
I am disappointed with the way the whole anime is turning out, but I agree season 1 was much better. The whole show goes through the storyline to fast and is filled with episode long adventures. Season two has less episode long adventures that don't matter for the story, it's just not done well enough for me. They don't expand on any of the races or other characters. I would have liked to see the series be at least twice as long in order to flesh everything out and develop more characters.
Spoiler:
Like back in season one when kirito was with that guild he ends up getting killed. He was only with the for an episode and a half. It would have been so much better if he were with them for awhile and became friends with them, and then had them killed off. Or that bad ass PK guild that showed up for one episode, would have been nice to see more of them. Idk they could have just done so much more to make the series better in general
Also best opening theme? Darker than Black howling in the shadows. I can't quite find a good version though :/ But here's one that at least plays the song

No thanks.

Waiting for next episodes on:Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen, Sword Art Online, Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.
Also trying to pick up the courage to finish Clannad
Well, I finished watching Gundam 00 a while ago. Currently, I am watching (the original) Gundam, Code Geass(R2), Death note, Gurren Lagann, and... damn, that's not much on a long "to watch" list that I have

With that said, I shall back away slowly and ominously and disappear in a puff of smoke, then smuggle some fruit across the border in order to stay competitive with the veggie cartel.

OK, one anime I probably won't watch is Strike Witches. I like the idea (cute girls with propellers on their legs armed with machine guns) but the fanservice is just way way too high, ranging from simple panty shots to camel toes and even actual nudity (but only on a certain edited DVD, the nudity wasn't originally there).

A friend recommended it to me back in the day and I went through a few eps. The fan service killed it for me. Good characters and good action otherwise but man the fan service was just excessive to the point of being painful

Well, I just watched the first 2 episodes of Sword Art Online. I was taken aback by just how dark the series is. Sigh, another creepy series to disturb myself with.
Aside from the darkness I thought it seems to be a really good series. I particularly like how it almost seems to poke fun (in a very dark way) at the dickishness of MMORPG players (like the guy demanding that all beta testers hand over their items because "they took all the easy quests"). It also kinda makes me want to play a good fantasy MMORPG (any suggestions? I have a good PC so computing ability isn't a problem).
One thing I did find a bit weird was...
Spoiler:
How Kirito handled being blamed for Diabel's death. It clearly wasn't his fault, and all he had to do was tell them the truth that the boss had been changed since the beta test. Saying that, they probably wouldn't have listened anyway, so kudos to him for creative thinking.

Watched some more Girls und Panzer. Very sad to see the Katyusha song cut from the Crunchyroll version, and I have heard that only the Japanese DVDs will have it in.
Some very good episodes though. Katyusha is so loveably obnoxious! Can't wait for episode 10 to be made viewable for free users. Sad that the series is almost over though. 12 episodes doesn't seem like enough...

actually went to a panel on that at my last con. The top three reasons by poll of the audience were:
1. Accurate translation true to the original material (See Sailor Moon, the original has cheese but the dub is almost unwatchable)
2. Material unavailable in the United States.
3. No censorship/editing from the import process.

So I watched an episode of broken blade- break blade randomly yesterday. Ended up staying up all night watching all 6 movie parts. That was a really good short series
Break blade is quite good quality. I was making my way through the manga but never finished. I would love to get back into it, but I would have to start again just so I knew the characters since I forgot everything.
Was Sword Art Online really that dark you think? I mean sure it had some unpleasant moments, but overall I wouldn't rate it as dark, just adventure drama.
Well the over hanging threat of death does darken the tone fairly significantly. They throw some pretty serious "break the hero" moments at Kirito and that's just in the first arc, as we've discussed previously the second arc takes a turn for the rape/incesty...
In other news got a DVD copy of Tenchi Universe for Christmas. My physical collection is growing ^^

I wasn't even sure if they had a schedule for new releases for the manga. It says that it is ongoing. It's just to bad they got impatient with the anime and decided to finish it before the manga could be finished :(
