You should consider making single hero/HQ models in metal/resin accompanying the Eisenkern plastic troops.
I was just on the GW website checking the new releases...
Either I get a dragon for a FA slot for 90$, or I get an awesome leviathan from Dreamforge for 75$... and those 15mm leviathans are in a league of their own, we don't even need to magnetize them to switch from full assault to full shooty!
Gents, I think we have just spent our money very wisely.

Ada's just so awesome I HAD to write some fluff... word of warning this is probably in horrible need of an editor and to be beaten into line with the proper Eisenkern rank structure and the like. I ended up using terminology from the Bundeswehr/Herr because I guessed they'd be a little similar at least. I also made it kinda generic by necessity. I wasn't sure what to call a Keilerkopf APC with the Stuka zu Fuss upgrade for example, and I didn't want to use any of the factions specifically simply because we don't have enough information on them.
Spoiler:
1700 Hours
Ambush Position Gamma 7
This frozen canyon had to be one of the most miserable hellholes she'd ever had the pleasure of serving her people. She took a final drag of the rough tobacco, herr issue, probably less painful to get shot then keep smoking them but they all still managed. She surveyed the steep and craggy cliff faces below her, uninspiring and snow covered grey as far as the eye can see, trained markswoman's eye seeking the well hidden explosives packages at either end of what was about to be become a choke point... and a violent end to the enemy force.
A slightly out of breath female junior officer, the commander of one of the Black Widow squads, raced up behind her, knocking the Hauptmann from her slight revery and back in to the realities of command.
"Hauptmann Ada! sentries report that the enemy armored convoy is at the first picket!"
"Excellent Oberleutenant, pull the sentries back, get everyone in position and alert the vehicle crews, they'll fire their rocket barrage on my mark!"
"Jawohl!"
The lieutenant's heels clicked together as she turned to carry out her orders, a little formal for the field but the younger woman clearly didn't want to be seen as lacking in any way under the eyes of her famous superior. It's not every day one's unit was hand picked by a legendary anti-tank specialist for her ambush.
The plan was simple enough, an enemy armored column was moving up this pass. Intelligence had managed to confirm it after the capture of some senior officers last night by a unit of Valkir deep behind enemy lines. The remote detonated explosives the pioneers under Ada's had laid early would trap them, combined fire from her troops and the rocket artillery fire from their Keilerkopf would crush the enemy, assault troops would clean up any survivors once the smoke cleared.
Ada stretched and flicked the cigarette away, grinding it under her heel as she strode slowly towards her chosen fighting position. It offered a commanding view of the engagement zone, the prize pick of any marksman, so what if she hunted tanks instead of men? They were simply that much more challenging. The huntress grinned as she dropped into position bracing hard into the the stock of her capacitor rifle, wanting to feel the pressure even through her armor before settling into a more relaxed shooting stance. Her shrouded holographic sights pop up as she begins to regulate her breathing, the soft hum of the capacitor charging keeping her company as the second line of pickets report visual contact with the enemy and the sound of heavy vehicles began to fill the canyon.
She whispered into her head set "All troops, weapons tight, radio silence at this time. Engage on my order."
A chorus of "acknowledged" rang back in her ear as the officers and SNCOs on her command circuit set about a fast and quiet final check of their troopers. The dull thud of an enraged sergeant smacking one of his charge's helmets over a critical mistake of some kind echoing across the fighting holes for a soft second before the first heavy tank turned the corner. Seconds dragged by like minutes as the convoy moved deeper into the stretch of canyon that had been chosen as their graveyard, the lead vehicle finally crossing the invisible line that marked the point of no return. A silent cutting motion across her throat, directed at the Pioneer Feldwebl that was crouched down next to her was all it took. She tightened up on her rifle, scope fixed on what she knew had to be a weak point in the vehicle's armor, one breath, one half breath, hold, one breath, one half breath, hold. The rhythm was familiar and comforting, as easy to fall in to for her as others walk through out their day. A second of that routine was all it took, and she issued the command, sharp and terse.
"First rank! Fire!"
The canyon was filled with the sharp cracks of heavy anti-tank rifles, followed by the booming discharge of her own capacitor rifle as her practiced finger whispered across the trigger of the big rifle, breath caught in her throat at the exact instance of discharge. The recoil kicked Ada back, her dug in toes dragging furrows in the hardened earth. She recovered instantly, all ready on the radio.
"Second rank! Fire!"
The softer roars of panzerschreck rockets leaping from launchers, the sharp booms as they found their target. Ada moved back into her shooting position, lining up another target already. As she continued to work her radio, resenting the machine keeping her from her hunt.
"All forces, fire at will, Hauptmann Konnig, you may fire your bombardment when ready."
The crisp and taciturn vehicle commander responded at once, letting his force's missiles report the launch, the deep roar of the boosting vehicle launched heavy rockets filling the air as the heavy missiles arched down into the canyon, a rain of death and flame.
It ended quickly. The assault troops were not even needed to go into battle, no call to repel a counter attack, or clean up survivors came. The enemy simply died as they were bidden, the funeral pyres of their vehicles the only things left to mark them. Another job well done.
Good stuff.

Ill agree. I know Dreamforge wants to go plastic, but some resin or metal hero/HQ models would really help flesh out the line until its practical to remake them in plastic.

I wonder who would make the metal models if Mark wanted some characters in metal? I know Reaper does contract work for other companies.

From what I've been given to understand, you can make reasonable runs in resin from a garage that is properly equipped. So he could technically even go so far as do these in-house (in a sense).

I'd probably pay $10 for a single hero... Cheaper than GW anyway
Something to consider once the KS madness dies down! Or even just tweaking the command box contents for a diversity of commanders (or an upgrade pack like for the troopers). Whatever's easiest

Yeah, depending on when the pledge manager comes out and how long we have to play with it, I could see adding another 4 of the 15mm Levis (to the existing 4 on order). - and hopefully some money for arms as well.
The Ada model being multipiece and posable is the best news I've heard yet. Means I can buy 5 and they won't be identical. Originally I was just going to spread them out and hope nobody noticed, but this is even better!

Yes, capes are a hazard and over-rated. Officers did have a different uniform than warrant, nco and line soldiers in WW1, though. A bit like the longcoat ad cap of the cadian squad box would be sufficiet, imho, and since we already have caps in the accessory sprue... that might be enough?

helmet decoration might work just something to pimp up your leader not a whole new kit or having to go back to metal cause you can tell it wont look as nice as the plastic

I'd have thought that, like GW's IG, the main comms gear would be carried by a comms specialist, not the CO.
Maybe something like more ornate shoulder pads or epaulettes? That would go well with the peaked cap from the accessory sprue.
However, as that would appear to be already finalised as it's a stage 1 delivery, adding stuff may just be wish-listing despite Mark's obviouse desire to keep his customers happy.
And I have got to add a set of those female tank hunters to my pledge. I only hope that the free seated marines that come with the APCs are muti-part as I may have to add a second unit of black widows and use parts from them to make seated versions in the back.

Meh. I can wait. My "to paint" pile is friggin huge. Not like I'll be able to get a game in any time soon anyways. No close store and all my gaming friends live like 30 miles away.
I guess I could put together the Leviathan and show it off at the mini-GW outlet near me

Does anyone know if the Black Widows will be availableafter the Kickstarter? I would normally think they wouldn't go through the effort and expense to make molds only to use them once, but they say Ada will not be available outside of the Kickstarter project. Does that go for her squad as well then?

Sounds good. I love the look of Ada, and definitely think I'll have to get a bunch of the Black Widows. But, I don't think I should try to add them onto my Kickstarter list because so much may change between now and when they are finally released next year.
I am currently in the market for a new wargame to replace 40k yet still keeping with a similar scale of game. If I invest heavily in another game like Dystopian Legions I may not want more than just Ada. Of course I may also be moving out of my apartment by mid next year so it probably isn't a good idea to order something unavailable till then.

These days, anyone could be moving by mid next year. I'm sure you will be able to arrange delivery to another address, even if your delivery address changes between stages.
The only risk is if you move as a stage ships, and then you ought to be able to get it forwarded.
I'd be more certain of that if you lived in the UK, true, but it ought to be the same in the US.
