"Psilence" is indeed golden... or at least brass at any rate.

I'm chuffed the sword's getting a lot of love. It was a PITA to do! Wife is concerned that scenic looks silly next to figure now though - valid, or womanly folly? Her and her proportions...

As it should get a lot! The Inq symbol balances well on the back as well, but....is that a chip i see in the sword blade? Its fine so long as its brought out in the paint job

silly how? i still think it gives a good background to the figure....but i may be wrong

Thanks mr. Yeah, that chip is there and will have attention drawn to it in the paintjob, hopefully.
So, first up, I now have the new sword arm up to where the rest of the build is, as well as adding some more seals, flesh tones and blue for basing the glow on the psilencer off.

Also, I had a request from Skalk Bloodaxe to provide some more up to date pics of my Sanctum Sororitas, which I've done, and has got me thinking about finishing it off.

There's some zenithal shading here, although I'm not sure how obvious it is!

And then I thought well, as long as I'm updating old stuff, I should look at my retinues:

And hey, my =][= could do with their next layer:

Or even some colour:

Who knows, maybe I'll even finish something at some point?

I don't work quickly. I just have so much stuff part painted that a single layer on a few minis creates the illusion of progress.

Need camera with batteries that hasn't been stolen for baking! Actually, even though I never thought it would be a factor, it's enough to make me consider switching to an iPhone 4 (or even a 5...) just for sake of handy, half-decent pics!

I have an i-phone 4. Takes decent enough mini pics. Still prefer my Nikon, but I've used the i-phone in a pinch and haven't heard anyone complain.

I just bought a brand new Nikon D3100 for $500 US (and that's just from the store, you could probably find it cheaper on the internets). Fantastic camera, comes with a lens that can take macro shots (all my latest shots have been with it). Does all kinds of other, great "camera" stuff (been taking pictures of Thing 1 & 2 at track and soccer games as the auto-focus will track moving objects, taking pics for work, etc.). It even takes videos I think.

That's what... 350.00 ish in pounds sterling? You might be better off buying a real camera rather than another phone.

Clearly, I am in fact Keith Caradine. Who knew

Better pics of the Sanctum Sororitas firstly:

That's a chaos corpse in there. It's metropolis, who in addition to being a great guy is quite churchy, so was amused at being a corpse in a sort of church (what? I have strange friends. It's good to have a sense of humour about your religion.) It even has his beard.

So then, I thought I'd use the as a backdrop for my pics; if nothing else, it lets me see how my basing style gels with my terrain/board goals. I'll get those up shortly.

Although it's not obvious at this stage, I'm flesh toning her boobs. I am not a big fan of the pneumatic look in my hobby, but I think it is character appropriate: she will do absolutely anything, use any weapon, in pursuit of the Emperor's enemies.

Very nice!

Hammerstein looks great, could only be improved by an orange/red colour scheme

Some lovely shading on Hector and Grimdarkius, book looks fantastic.

And again for Margar's bolter

Mr Psilence is looking golden. Coming together very nicely, that's going to be a beautiful piece when done.

Second pic for the first two, first pic for the face. All of them for the details

Very nice indeed graven, gorgeous work. Your techniques are really working well together, the dry-brushing, shading and osl all combining to make something that looks like it's stepped out of it's own reality. It all meshes nicely is what I'm getting at
Kudos.

Agreed with monkey, he looks excellent!

congrats on a beautiful model graven, its really all come together for him...I would say the second one for the face, it shows more of the detail on his chest and 'streamers' as well as his face (nice work on that btw!)...

Cant decide on the rest, sorry...

- I dig the wings on his back!
- The blue glow on the weapon is top notch, I see lots pf power there
- I feel that the sword hand has a bit to much in terms of parchments
- The close up of the face is pretty awesomesauce

@ reiko: true true. I think a big factor is that I fixed my lamp so have a decent, posable light source, as well as a decent camera, which did ultimately enable the face to work.

@ knightley: I know, where have I seen that before? Getting the balance of osl seems to be about right now, I don't like too much glow but a little really works for me. I know the sword is a bit preposterous but I think I invoke the power of Character Mimi at that point - I think it can get away with it, just about. Really stoked you like his mug as yours are always so characterful. Used a new set of paints for his flesh (VJ Elf, Flat and Pale. As a a set they seem to run nicely.
