w0000000t!
So my German is pretty rusty, but I'm über-excited for the LotD and Assassin Commando units! I'm guessing the LotD cause enemies to have -1 Ld and they all deep strike? Or something? And what do the assassin teams do? Help from those German speakers is much appreciated.
Also, is that a whole slew of strategems in that one link???

The strategems look like the normal strategems , but made as a PDF so you can print them and then cut them out as the old datafax cards.

*headsplosion upon reading assassins rules* So with that combination of strategems, doesn't it mean that you could have 2-6 eversor assassins charging the rear of your army from your table edge?? And can word in your ear drag units out of their deployment zone? Cause 36" combined WiyE is pretty intense! Also, does WiyR work on vehicles? So you could turn a titan around and expose the juicy back armor to titan killing powa? - Salvage

Did Wulfen always have rending? T4, 3+ save 4 attacks on the charge with fleet rending? The LoTD rules look pretty good too. 3+ units of space marines deepstriking at the same time within 12" of each other. Oh yeah, and they are fearless and have feel no pain. Sick.

Who cares if it is meant to use against psykers, it suits me more to use it with my witchhunters along with laudhailers on the mech sisters.

The defense laser is ultra cool too. Not only does it carry up to two twin linked AA autocannons and 8 heavy bolters, but it is a min 60" range D weapon. The cool part is if your opponent tries to play orbital strategic assets. You can shoot at them (orbiting ships) to drive them off and nullify the effect. Very cool.... I like apoc.... rending, fleet, 4 attack wolfen with deep striking feel no pain termies? I wish I wouldn't have sold my wolfen..... on first glance it looks like you can only move a single unit per assassin, which without looking deeply at it would mean only a unit once. Seems to follow the original rule for all else. Does it allow you to move out of the deployment zone? It also looks like titans can be affected....but what is 6" to them? Though turning one around would be awesome!

Here is a scenario: a combined force of Navy flyers and Imperial Guard fight through a legion of Orks to activate the Defence Laser The Unblowuppable, but in the process knock out the power to a super secret Ordo Xenos laboratory filled with a frak-ton of gribbley Tyranid beasties, thus precipitating the need for an Execution Force to eliminate them (and then be eliminated if it is the perogative of their Ordo Sicarius case officer).
How does that sound?

I actually like the versatility of the apocalypse rules. Who says the defense laser has to be Imperial? It could be an orkish defense cannon with flak kannons and twin linked big shootas all over it. I also am dying for some more obscure datasheets, such as IG infantry companies, the LEVIATHAN, or SM Reserve companies.
I also want some more units like the Masters of the Chapter, but for other armies. Damn dude, this just gets cooler and cooler. Makes me wish I could afford all the fliers I'm aching to buy. and titans. and superheavy tanks.
I won't lie, though, I do NOT want to pay an arm and a leg for forgeworld books, and the more super heavy stuff they bring out as a datasheet the better.

I knew about the heirophant's guns, but check out that stat line too. Sweet Lords of Chaos! First time I've heard of an "allies matrix" before ... I do love the Cold Steel Ridge board and Phil Kelly's army.
I honestly feel datasheets are where the variant lists are going to go (13th, USF, Speed Freeks, Seeding Swarm, etc). It's something. Apocalypse definitely feels like an olive branch to enthusiasts like myself, more concerned with losing with style in crazy games than winning. As someone who decides what my army is based on models and whatever B-movie I just saw on TV than any rule list...I love Apocalypse.
But GW has to support it in the WD, the website, and the events. I think they will. Have an APOC tourney. You can have prizes for biggest painted army, best painted, and orient the rest of the awards around fun (most kills in one turn, least effective vs. points cost unit, etc). If you have GREAT terrain, the gamers will come. No seeding, no sportsmanship - just a few judges, and it would be absolute chaos.
Sign me up to that, Chuck

Yeah, an APOC tournament would only work if the goal was not to win all of your games. If you gave out no points for winning, and points were only dependent upon Fluffiness of your force, painting, cool events within a game, etc then it might actually be fun and wouldn't attract the power gamers building armies of 15 falcons and 90 Harlequins.

Go ahead, bring those 15 falcons. How many Autocannon IG Heavy Weapon sharp shooter platoons backed up with a defense laser, hellhounds, thud guns (I don't care if I can't shoot at harlequins, I shoot enough at falcons, I WILL deviate) and other assorted nasties.
For about half what those falcons and harlequins cost, I can field 50 sharpshooting autocannons and 9 hellhounds. Throw in a few conscript squads or deep striking units and I am set. Bring em!
The nice thing about apoc is, no matter what you can match what cheese he throws at you with your own.
