Absolutely not. I stay away from all MMORPGs simply because of the addiction factor. Heck, I lost an hour to Team Fortress 2 last night.

Will I play Warhammer online for long? Probably not
The game just doesn't seem to offer anything interesting beyond playing an MMORPG in the Warhammer world. While that is cool, its not enough to keep me playing for very long. It doesn't look like there are any new concepts, significant character customization, or particularly interesting innovations in game play to hold my interest for long. Age of Conan looks to be a much more promising game.

I'll be playing spore instead, since they're slated to come out around the same time - mid-to-late this year. So you guys can play with your dwarves and night elves while I play with my penisaur.

I think WAR is going to be much better than WoW, which I currently play, since it has a stronger focus on RvR/ PvP. I get bored with WoW simply because there is no progression anymore and nothing exciting to do. Plus I get to really experience some of the lore of the warhammer world (similar reason why I started playing WoW) only in this game they actually reward you for exploring and doing things other than straight up "kill 20 mobs" quests. I also like how they track stuff for you a head of time so if you do encounter a guy that needs you to clear an area of vile creatures, but you already did that for fun before you found him then he will just reward you instead of telling you to do it all again(slowed WoW).
Anyways looks like they have done a good job learning from their previous MMOs and WoW and really put together a good game. I'm excited.

I'm looking forward to WAR. I loved DAoC. It and CoH/CoV were the only MMOs I played for longer than 2 months. Honestly, RvR is much better than any other PvP method, IMHO. I'm looking forward to the rewards, the actual physical changes in characters, and the Mass Quests.

I am very interested in WAR and would happy to play it currently. I thought DAoC was fun although a bit boring (as a support). They've taken the hint and are making all classes more active, which should be quite entertaining. The Warhammer lore helps generate interest. Mainly though, I am excited about the Mythic name - they've experimented with MMOs before, and now know what works and what doesn't.
The fact that they havent released the last high elf class troubles me as the balance of the class is destined to be rushed. However it'll continue to win awards for being the most anticipated game of 2007, 2008 and 2009. Its pretty obvious when the design team is influenced by its license agreement (LOTR games, Starwars games, etc)

I'm all over WAR like a fat chick on free bon bons. Now that Mythic has been bought out by EA (sorry to the Devs and the rest of the team that got canned) they have a near infinite budget to make this game what it needs to be... a serious contender against WoW. WoW hasn't come close to hitting it's peak yet, so WAR needs to hit the ground running and keep hauling ass. I just can't wait to be a Black Orc! WAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

How do you know for sure you wouldn't like it better than WoW? Have you played it enough to know with that kind of certainty? How do you make an honest assessment at this point.

I'm sure there will be other variations from other players who've shared theirs. That way, yours can play with theirs. I read that a spit-attack was implemented so I'm sure they'll all end up splashing each other in a wave of fun as they interact with each other.
My friend told me he might try WAR, so if he does and finds it fun, I might join in too. I just hope their version of van Helsing is cool enough. Has there been any news about the amount of dungeons and the requirement for you to do them in order to be competitive in the endgame? I honestly hate having to find a group to do them as well as actually doing them. It's stupid that it's required for the endgame in WOW, as it usually ends up with you being a pawn in a stupid, neckbearded guild where you can imagine all the other players are basement-dwellers who play this game constantly and talk about DKP (whatever that means) and want you to follow their orders to the letter. I love the leaders of the INTERNET SERIOUS guilds who are online versions of passive-aggressive alpha males who take out their real-life frustrations in a game.

Well, I'm in the beta test for this game, and I can tell you I'm impressed so far. Of course, this is only a beta test for low level content, so I have no idea if it is another grind to be competitive in the endgame.
As per the NDA I can't really talk about content, but I will say I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of it without the time investment that something like Everquest or even WoW had. Ive been able to jump on for 30 or 40 minutes and have a really good time.

I will try it, mainly because I am a tool of cool vidya games. I do notice the pattern of addiction to mmorpg's though. I started on Everquest, played planetside after that, then graduated to wow which was very different and nice in the beginning, but pretty much on and off once the game became stagnant. Raiding was fun when the group accomplished something, the rest of the time it was a waste of my ass glued to a sitting implement.
WHO looks pretty interesting from what I've seen though, thinking I will go orks.

Exactly. My friend and I started our own little 5-man guild of real life friends and all we did was do some fun world pvp skirmishing and arena battles. I love looking at guild forums where some antisocial recluse has decided that his whole guild must revolve around him. I still can't believe idiots actually join a group that says MUST RAID FOR 3 DAYS/WEEK AND BE ON FOR 3+ HOURS ON RAIDS DURING THOSE DAYS. ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR OWN EQUIPMENT UPGRADES. Hahaha.

I used to be in one of the top tier raiding guilds of my server (Malygos). Raided every night. Learning Naxx and Twin Emps. Damn near cost me my marriage. Had to uninstall the game and do some serious damage control. Then I ended up getting a job with Blizzard working with WoW. My wife wasn't too happy about that, but at least I was getting paid.
