While I think fortune tellers are con-artists, I think making it a criminal offense is a bit excessive XD

Fortune tellers aren't really con artists.

They're entertainers.

Fortune telling is how they entertain people.

And I don't really think it's their responsibility to make sure people know that they're just entertaining people, since doing so would ruin the entertainment, and if you're THAT gullible that you're treating it as more than entertainment...

And, I mean, they gotta keep up the act, or else people won't be entertained by them anymore.

It's like the lottery.

It was rescheduled to today and turned into a Republican-led meeting run by Chairman Goodlatte and was apparently made invitation-only. I'm not okay with the lottery (that's a con job too, actually probably even worse because it feeds on addiction). But I also see little point in criminalizing gambling.

I am being serious.

This is exactly how the Nazi's became the only party in Germany. Seize control of the government and block opposition leaders from being able to fully participate. This isn't skating pretty close. It's right out of the Goering playbook.

Uhh, the Nazis siezed control of the German government by having the Brownshirts murder anyone who opposed the Nazi party in broad daylight in public places because people were too scared to stop them. And then the survivors went along with it out of fear of being murdered too.

When the Nazi's won a overwhelming majority in the Reichstag in 1932, one of the first things they did was elect Goring President of the Reichstag. The second thing they did was prevent opposition members from participating in the basic functions of Reichstag. Meetings were regulated. Members forbidden from participating in discussions. Following a terrorist set fire in February the following year, the Nazi's used the incident to begin a violent crack down on communists, then on to socialists etc etc.

Brownshirts beating people in the street was the endgame. Not the start.

Good to know, thank you!

Well then.

Any plans on how to remove the American version of Nazis from power before it comes to a new Holocaust and/or World War 3 with the Americans as the aggressors trying to take over the world?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, remember, the thing about the nuclear deterrent preventing a counter-attack against the Americans by the world will only stop such a counter-attack until the world is willing to accept those kinds of casualties in exchange for stopping the Americans. At which point the USA will fire all of their nukes and keep being attacked despite the billion+ deaths and now they have no nukes. Whether anyone else fires theirs in return depends on whether they want to destroy a massive number of American cities as part of their strategy for defeating the Americans.

Okay then.

Personally, I'd avoid calling the Republicans Nazis to begin with and actually think about that news story and realize it's being blown out of proportion.

Because what actually happened is that a politician who was not invited to an invitation-only meeting was denied access, and then access to ICE began requiring talking to this one guy who is probably in charge of ICE in some way.

This is all true.

Brownshirts beating people in the street was the endgame. Not the start.

This is patently false. They were beating protesters at their rallies a decade before the Reichstag. Hitler tried a violent revolution and did jail time for treason.

When the Nazi party couldn't break 10% of the vote they rioted and shot communists in the street. Look, Trump's administration is super awful in too many ways. They are not fascists. You'll figure that out eventually.

Yeah the Nazi's were also a "workers' party, but they still hated communists. The name of National Socialist German Workers' Party was basically a buzzword title. The Nazis were completely opposed to anything relating to Marx. Communists, Socialists, and even Populists were targeted by the Nazis, because at the end of the day they didn't really give a gak what your ideology was. If you weren't on board with them you had to go.

In Hat's defense, the comment seemed somewhat tongue-in-cheek, given the exaggeration of a certain Facist-like action into total categorization and the inclusion of a laughing face. Certainly we can all agree that the GOP's action in that case was not one that supports democracy.

I don't agree with it, because the GOP's action is perfectly in line with American democracy.

Completely and utterly wrong. The nazis hated socialist and communists. It's the reason they attacked Soviet Russia.

Also: straight from mein kampf
"Yes, how often did they not turn up in huge numbers, those supporters of the Red Flag, all previously instructed to smash up everything once and for all and put an end to these meetings. More often than not everything hung on a mere thread, and only the chairman’s ruthless determination and the rough handling by our ushers baffled our adversaries’ intentions. And indeed they had every reason for being irritated.

The fact that we had chosen red as the colour for our posters sufficed to attract them to our meetings. The ordinary bourgeoisie were very shocked to see that, we had also chosen the symbolic red of Bolshevism and they regarded this as something ambiguously significant.

The suspicion was whispered in German Nationalist circles that we also were merely another variety of Marxism, perhaps even Marxists suitably disguised, or better still, Socialists. The actual difference between Socialism and Marxism still remains a mystery to these people up to this day. The charge of Marxism was conclusively proved when it was discovered that at our meetings we deliberately substituted the words ‘Fellow-countrymen and Women’ for ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ and addressed each other as ‘Party Comrade’. We used to roar with laughter at these silly faint-hearted bourgeoisie and their efforts to puzzle out our origin, our intentions and our aims.

We chose red for our posters after particular and careful deliberation, our intention being to irritate the Left, so as to arouse their attention and tempt them to come to our meetings – if only in order to break them up – so that in this way we got a chance of talking to the people."

It's kinda funny how Americans insist that socialism and communism are the same thing even after reading a passage from Hitler's autobiography where he trash-talks people for not recognizing the difference between socialism and communism.

It's not even something that's hard to disprove either, the first groups Hitler went after were socialists and communist, even before he went after jews.

I think what that quote actually proves is that the Nazi leadership were masters of using psychological manipulation to achieve a goal by treating the veracity and meaning of words and symbols to be less important than the effects they cause on human behavior when people hear them.

Yes.

Hitler also insisted that science as a whole was also a Jewish conspiracy, and as such instructed his scientists to not construct devastating biological weaponry. When his scientists ignored him and developed bio-weapons which would decimate the USA by unleashing a pest into the continental USA which would proceed to consume the USA's means of food production by eating all the crops, Hitler refused to use it because of his prejudice against Jews and conspiracy theories causing him to reject that as an option.

Had Hitler allowed military strategy to be decided by military experts instead of himself, World War 2 could very easily have ended very, very differently, with even higher death counts and perhaps even a Nazi victory instead of an Allied one..

I think you might be confusing some things.

The Nazi's didn't think science as a whole was a Jewish conspiracy. They did think that Physics had become "Jewish" because of Einstein and other prominent Jewish physicists of the era. As a result German physics became intensely political (this actually hindered the development of practical atomic theory in Germany because of the insistence than some theories were wrong just because the men who produced them were Jews).

Shockingly, even Hitler apparently had something he wasn't willing to do. Running theory is that his own experience in WWI gave him an aversion to chemical weapons. The more standard thought is that German strategic analysts determined Germany would lose a chemical weapons war, but that if they didn't use such weapons they would not be used in turn. For the most part this proved true. All sides in WWII largely refrained from the use of chemical weapons. Only Imperial Japan made wide use of them and only in China.
