I expected the Forge World resin one and did a double-take when I loaded up the first image. That is some phenomenal plasticard work. I'd ask for a how-to, but with a project like this, I guess it would amount to "cut up plasticard until you have a Warhound." Is that a WIP Thunderbolt in your gallery, too? Seriously, just amazing.

It was just a joke . Well, it was mostly meant to be a compliment. But it was also just a joke. If it's just a joke and mostly a compliment I don't know what's left. But it's a sweet looking titan. I love the work done on the legs.

A brand name, a link, anything, please!!! Evergreen Scale Models also makes it. I like buying from them for odd shapes, but for sheets... Just about any industrial plastics supplier should sell sheet styrene. The one close to me has it in .040, .060, and .080 thicknesses. You may have to buy it in a 4'x4' or 4'x8' sheet, but it works out waaaaay cheaper over time than buying 6"x12" hobbypacks. Oh, and to the OP: that's great work! :thumbs up:

Awesome job! Very true to form...but out of curiousity, for the time involved in building it, would it have been more efficient dollar-per hour wise (through working a job) to just buy the forgeworld one? lol

thank you guys! ive used LAKCOFBETTERNAMEs templates that are avliable in the yahoo-group BWC-archive. join and enjoy! these templates are VARY well constructed and makeing one of these is a cakwalk. it takes som time but it is great fun so try it out!
ive used 0,75mm plasiccard. the reason i use that thin material is that the proportions doesnt get scrwed up because of its thickness.
the thunderbolt tamplates are there in BWC too.

I am beginning one of these myself and am curious: What did you use to make your knee joints? It looks different than other knee joints I've seen. I'm also guessing it makes for a more stable joint due the triangular cross section of the bits...
thanks!

very nice work Widgren - thanks for sharing & proving such things can be done.
Can't wait to see it painted - R you gonna use an airbrush?
Thanks for info on the source too and for Dsquared's tip on getting big sheets - i'm forever dipping in & out of modeling projects and losing bits & pieces (esp bits left over from A4 plasticard sheets) buying more then finding the missing ones the day after - losing a 8x4 sheet would be difficult even for me!

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |
