Cool, I'm not a huge dog person but having an animal around can be pretty nice. Especially if they're calm and don't eat miniatures.

Cool booster too.

Well! Booster of minis, and a new pet to keep you company! All looking good!

Looks like the mods pulled my pic of Penelope. Tonight I'm going to attempt to get some painting time in, if Penelope will let me. I'll probably start with an Aquila Guard since that will be an easier scheme to work with.

The great news is, Penelope is letting me paint! So I was able to start the Aquila Guard, Garuda Tacbot, and Asawira that were all in my queue. I also painted a Death Guard for some reason.

So, random Death Guard, who looks way filthier in person than he does here.

And the Asawira

Much as I like this guy's armor design, he could really stand a resculpt. He's super thin. Hopefully whenever they get around to updating these guys, they'll keep the design and just bulk them out.

What is that Death Guard model? 30K? I've not been following anything GW for a while now...

I'm three figures into my challenge now. Just completed two tonight! Whereas last time it was a Haqqislam addition, this time it's PanO. Specifically Neoterran.

First is the Aquila Guard.

I already had the MULTI Rifle version, figured I should get the other.

Second is the Garuda Tacbot

This is technically the HMG version, but honestly, that gun arm could be anything. So, I'll proxy him for whatever option I need, assuming he ever gets used. This figure is actually not a PanO model. With some sectorials, ALEPH provides troops. PanO's Neoterran sectorial gets to use Garudas, which are actually their only available airborne unit. Yu Jing gets these guys too. I'd asked Highlord Tamburlaine which faction's colors to use, and he said PanO, so this Garuda got a Neoterran color scheme to show his allegiance.

Well, the base goal for the month has been met. I finished the final two figures for the month, the Kaauri Sentinels.

What are they? They're some kind of bio-engineered species created by the Tohaa to be used as disposable soldiers in Infinity. I think there's supposed to be some bit about them being based on ancient mythological guardian deities or something, but really, they're just a slave species created to die on the behalf of the Tohaa. The Tohaa are kind of fethed up when you stop to think about what they do.

I feel like I've been neglecting my plog. It looks like I'll be able to squeeze in another Infinity figure before the month is done. I'm working on a Squalo right now, but I suspect I won't finish before the end of the month. So, it looks like my total will be 6 Infinity figures for December. Most likely, I will not be participating in the next Tale of Painters challenge.

Here's tonight's completed Infinity figure (and one I've been wanting for a while), the Emergency Services 112 aka the Combat Fireman aka awesome Zombie Apocalypse survivor.

Dude's got a pistol, a fireaxe, body armor, an oxygen mask, and a sawed-off shotgun. I think he'll be able to handle himself.

I painted yet another Rakshasa from the EIC. This time, it's the Pathfinder. For whatever reason, he's in nearly the same pose as the Booster. I see myself easily confusing these two if they're ever on the board together.

Also from MERCS, I did a quick and dirty paintjob on one of the Civvies that comes in the EIC expansion box.

Lastly, I painted my Goliath Battlesuit from Afterlife. This one was a bit time consuming, hence why I haven't been posting much lately. It's hard to see in the pics, but there's actually several different shades of gray used on this thing. I'm actually pretty happy with the results.

Pretty down to the wire, but I managed to get the TAG done before the end of the month/year!

Here's the PanOceania Squalo, Armored Cavalry TAG. I've painted it to match up with my Neoterran troops.

And, because I own the original Armored Cavalry model, here's how the new one compares to the old, military surplus model.

There's just a bit of a size and sculpt difference between the two.

Thanks. Hope you had a good new year, JoeRugby.

My first figures of the new year! I painted up yet another Rakshasa. This time, it's the Sniper. Just two to go and I'll have the entire faction done!

Highlord Tamburlaine had provided me with a sprue of the plastic Concord infantry from Beyond the Gates of Antares. I've got a few sets of them in metal that I haven't gotten to yet, so I figured I'd give a couple of the plastics a test run. After much deliberation, I decided to go with a cooler color scheme, something more urban friendly and low-vis. I know the lights and visors don't really fit that, but whatever. They needed a bit of extra color. I'll be transferring these colors over to the rest of my Concord whenever I get around to them.

Tonight sees three figures brought to completion. Two snipers from MERCS and 1 Orc Marauder from Deadzone. The Marauder's been sitting on my table unpainted for a LOOOOONG time. I figured I should just bite the bullet and actually paint the guy.

Here's the Orc.

Now, in MERCS, there's a faction called the FCC, which is basically a number of loosely affiliated terrorist groups from the abandoned "Lost Margins" that have pooled their resources together to form relatively effective fighting forces. They're organized into Houses, of which two have been made, House 4 and House 9. During the Recon Kickstarter, House 4 was included for free while House 9 was a paid add-on. However, several House 9 figures wound up being thrown in as freebies. These were the Saboteur (which I've already painted and posted) and the Sniper. For the hell of it, I decided to paint both snipers this week.

Here's the House 4 Sniper.

He's pretty plain, really. He doesn't have the hodge-podge post apocalyptic raider look that the rest of the FCC guys have.

Here's the House 9 Sniper

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure how this guy is a sniper. That gun has no scope and looks more like a shotgun. He is supposed to be their sniper though.

Really nice Marauder. Quite a change from the usual 40K orks.

Like all 3. I like your marauder especially, the colors really work.

I actually like Mantic's Deadzone Marauders. The more military look to them goes a long way towards making them feel like the professional soldiers they're supposed to be. Way back when I started them, I wanted to go for more of an Afrika Korps look than the official Blood Axe looking colors. With tge kepis they're wearing, I though it would suit them better. I'm actually disappointed that they didn't do a new plastic sprue in the same style for Warpath.

Yeah at some point i hope they make more in hard plastic. Your colors really work with the professional look the orcs try to achieve.

I liked just about all of the models in Deadzone. The only ones that really didn't do much for me were the Rebs. That could have something to do with them having the worst casts of my batch, though. I did really like the Marauders. Lots of character to them.

For the last couple of days, I've been working on some power armored figures. My brother got me some Konflikt '47 Soviets for Christmas, among other things and I picked up some Germans when I was last at Brookhurst. I figured, why not work on them all together?

Here's the Soviet Heavy Infantry.

They're a little doffy, but I love the weapons. Power claws and machine guns with grenade launchers. These things would be real nasty to encounter in the streets of Stalingrad.

Here's the German Heavy Infantry (w/ MG-34s)

Official colors for them have them in desert yellow. The MG-34s though gave me Panzer Cop vibes, so I went with a menacing black. The guy on the left got a headswap with a West Wind gasmask head. These are pretty nice figures. I just wish the shading and gradients showed up in the pics. Plus, they look much more black in person than they do in these pics.

Lastly, I had backed Slap Miniatures' Space Knights Kickstarter. They're pretty much just 15mm not-Space Marines and not-Terminators. My plan is to eventually try and use them to play Ion Age. My plan here was just to do a test run on my colors with three of the four types of troops I got.

The Kickstarter had four types of troops: Bolter, Assault, Support, and Terminator. I should have about twenty guys all together, so I'll split them into fireteams of five with three bolters, one support, and one assault type acting as a Sgt. I'll be working on the other three troopers next as well as some other 15mm figures. After that, probably back to MERCS.

Where were all those dieselpunk Nazis when I started collectiing IG? I wanted to have a Kerberus Korps army but closest I got was with the Warzone gas mask figures.

Those Germans give off some serious Jin-Roh/ Panzer Cop vibes, so job well done there.

Russians do look appropriately menacing and doofy at the same time.

Nice!

Been busy this past week. Got more work done on tiny people, painted another figure that's been sitting around unfinished, and painted a another figure that's been primed for a few weeks.

I finished the remaining three Space Knights from my first squad.

and the team together.

I painted up some scientists from Khurasan Minis. I'll need to get the fleeing scientists he makes as well.

Gabbed a couple of Xin riflemen, because I've been neglecting them.

And then, there's a couple of Heavy Gear figures I'm been dragging my feet on. First is this Desert Viper who has been sitting on my desk mostly finished for months. Decided to get him done.

His partner that came with him is still not finished though.

The other Heavy Gear figure I painted was a Crusader IV, from the Peace River faction. It's a somewhat bigger unit from the Peace River Defense Force. I don't know too much about this faction beyond the fact that their Gears seem to be derived from Northern designs. They share a similar blocky aesthetic.

As Heave Gear minis that I own go, this guy's one of the chunkier ones. The blockier designs generally don't do a whole lot more me, but I do really like this one. I've been contemplating selling off a few of my HG minis, but I'm thinking I'll keep this one.

This guy was painted along with the group of minis I did yesterday. I just hadn't finished him until tonight.

He's a Micropanzer figure. Don't recall which faction. SAS, I think? Doesn't really matter though.

I also finished up a Dystopian Wars vehicle, of all things! Yes, I actually still have Dystopian Wars kits that need painting. This is the Archimedes Heavy Walker for the Covenant of Antarctica.

It's actually got quite a few weapons on it. Big pincer claws on the front, the white things on top are rockets, a big laser cannon on top, a shell firing cannon on its underside, and little lasers all over. This kit is resin and metal, with the body and big cannons being resin and the legs and arms in metal. The metal on the legs is super bendy. Like, so bendy that I don't think they'll actually be able to hold up the things body. I don't think I've had a metal kit that bent so easily.
