I like the colors. Very regal looking.

Of course I tend to like most of those Yu Jing sculpts too, but those colors make him look particularly bad ass.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

What I didn't expect is how large the Hsien in. He's pretty tall. Almost as tall as the Azra'il and Al Fasid (though not as bulky).

Dude's almost a full head taller than the regular soldiers.

Wow, he is big.

That made them move up a notch on my "to purchase" list. You know I like larger models.

Nice work, although the dark vertical lines on the model's coat is confusing me. Is the back divided into panels or something?

Now showing skeletons for Mantic's Dungeon Saga!

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

That does look like a sectioned coat, interesting design they picked for the Khawarij

I got the Tuareg done Saturday night. I'm now halfway through my Red Veil box. If I don't succeed in finishing the whole thing, I'll at least have met my minimum figure goal.

I had a little bit of trouble with her. She's supposed to be looking through the scope of her rifle, but try as I might, I could not get the right arm to mount properly. It's the same issue I had with the Nisses in Ice Storm. Except in her case, instead of looking through her scope, she's looking along the side of her gun. Arg. Well, at least they're done now. I'm going to work on some more EIC and then Yu Jing. I've got most of the Yu Jing models assembled and primed now.

On the side, I painted up some 15mm items from Ion Age. For some reason, the Xin Warrior Monks operate in groups of five, but Alternative Armies only sells them in groups of three. It's odd. So, in anticipation of getting a full set, I've slowly been working on the other two needed for the legal squad. The first had already been finished for a while, but tonight I finished the second.

Also on the side, I painted up my other Ion Age building. This one is called a Block House. I like that they designed a lot of their buildings to be modular, so you can either have them stand alone, or you can set them up together. There's also connecting hallways you can get to really spread out your bases.

My little 15mm colony base is slowly growing.

I took a little side trip today and instead of working on the Yu Jing troops, I worked on some stretch goals. Namely, finishing up the mercs part of the Unnamed Assimilation expansion from MERCS: Recon, which is the EIC expansion. I completed the Leader and the Engineer tonight. All that's left to finish up that box is to paint the two civvies. Since the Sniper, Assimilator, Heavy, Booster, and Pathfinder weren't actually part of the expansion, I'll be calling this stretch goal completely finished once those civvies are done.

Here's the Engineer.

From what her character board shows, she basically plays the same role as the Breacher. I'm not really sure what reason there would be to take one over the other. Both have abilities that affect the Breach and Clear. Kind of makes me wonder if their abilities are different in the tabletop game.

Here's the Leader

You can't see it, but he has some kind of cybernetic implant or targeting monocle of some kind on the left side of his face.

Here's the whole team from the Unnamed Assimilation box.

I'm kind of thinking I might try to use them in Rogue Stars when it comes out. They've got a pretty unique look to them and the yellow armor certainly will give them a strong presence on the tabletop. It should be fairly easy to stat them according to WYSIWYG as well.

Looking good Barzam! notice that bases make the figures float above the actual ground level, making the figs seem taller than the door? Always have to remember the base would not be under the feet, and thus place the minis at the "ground level" of the terrain and make them more fitting under the door tops.

I think it is simething terrain amkers forget abouyt when making their doors, they forget the 2-3mm added height the base adds to minis.

Thanks Shas. Actually, I think the door being too small is just a trick of the angle. The doorway is actually taller than both figures. Now the bases though, those won't be fitting through the doors.

Today's actually been pretty productive. I got four figures done today! I painted an Afterlife figure and completed all three Zhanshis from Red Veil.

Here's the Afterlife figure.

I may need to retake that since he looks a little dark.

Here's the Zhanshis.

Here's no. 1, with his flowing locks

You can't even see it, but the guy's got a beard.

Here's Zhanshi 2. I'm not sure what happened with her face. I don't know why it came out looking so soft. I used thinned paints and everything.

And here's Zhanshi 3.

I know, their faces came out looking oddly soft and I didn't bother painting their eyes. I'm not planning on changing that, either. I'm just glad they're done and out of the way. I'm probably going to start the Tiger Soldier tonight.

Thanks. The faces only really look bad up close. At tabletop level, they look fine.

Low an dbehold, I actually completed a fifth figure today! While getting the base whites onto the Tiger Soldier, I also worked some on a Commando Armiger I've had from Heavy Gear. Since its colors were so simple, it painted up nice and quick.

Like my others, I'll probably end up using it in 15mm games.

I'm on a roll! Another hurdle cleared today. I got the Tiger Soldier finished. Now all that's left are the Zuyong and the Ninja. At the rate I'm going, I might actually get Red Veil finished before I leave for Japan.

Here's the Tiger Soldier Hacker.

I decided to forgo the green scheme I'd used on the new sculpt Shotgun Tiger Soldier and instead went back to how I'd painted my three original Tiger Soldiers, using the same white and black scheme I've used with the rest of my basic Yu Jing troops.

And here's how she compares to the current male types and the original female type.

Beyond the Beltway

Oooh, tiger soldier turned out very well. I may borrow the idea of white armor for my Yu Jing, which will come in the red veil box. Not starting the faction, but just want some cool minis to paint, and get those nice new Haqq minis (and that excellent ninja).

Since you have the Yu Jing, how are they to assemble and paint? I've seen some, erm, well, whining about the assembly.

I was thinking long and hard about whether I wanted to go through with the white armor for the Tiger Soldier. My previous one, like I said, I had done in green armor. I really like how the green looks on them, too.

As far as assembly goes, I had only a few minor issues. Issues like the Tuareg's arm not mounting right, or off hands not matching up with their respective arms. Nothing major that you wouldn't be likely to encounter on regular releases. Although, for some reason, tonight I was having issues with my glue bonding. I think that's more due to the weather than the minis though.

Today I painted the Zuyong w/ MULTI Rifle.

I also assembled the Ninja and the Yuan-Yuan. Just those two left and then I'll have met my challenge.

White does look good for Yu Jing and I feel it fits them better than the official yellow. But, it's an absolute pain in the butt to paint. I just finished the final two figures from Red Veil. No more painting white for a bit, I hope. This also means I've achieved my goal and beat this month's challenge. I completed the full Red Veil boxed set!

Here's the final Yu Jing figure, the box exclusive Ninja. Who doesn't exist. Shhh.

So, you'll notice right away, I did not go for the black or dark scheme that most people have given her. I wanted to do something different, so I looked for inspriation from an old PS2 game I enjoyed, Night Shade. Nightshade was the 2003 sequel to the insufferably hard PS2 Shinobi game. Hibana was the main protagonist, a kunoichi with a futuristic ninja suit. Her suit was red and white, which just so happens to be the colors for the JSA in Infinity. I used her costume design as inspiration for the Ninja's colors, mostly keeping the same scheme and patterns and changing the areas where it was needed. I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Here's the other figure, the preorder exlusive Yuan-Yuan.

For him, I decided to use Boba Fett as inspiration. For some reason, I felt that the scheme would suit a space pirate. If I ever get the other Yuan-Yuans, I'll have to give them all unique color schemes.

Mechs look good for 15mm actual warmachines, or 28mm robotic additions.

Tiger troops looking unified and good, Interesting the original was a foot slogger, the more modern version are jump troops.

Zhuyong looks beefy, nice scheme on him.

We shall refer to her as archery girl, also looks great! the white with red seems fitting.

Piratical Yuan-yuan with the flight pack looks good in the darker t medium colors!

Great stuff lately! I go away for a couple three weeks and BAM, Red Veil down. Thanks for sharing, I was never gonna buy it but now I've gotten the vicarious experience handled

Awesome collection of other minis too, your throughput continues to be both steady and prodigious.

Thanks. It feels good to be done with a big box set like Red Veil. Noq that I'm done, I might even try playing it! My productivity is going to drop sharply though. I'll be traveling again. I'm goinf to Japan for about a week to visit family. Once I'm back though, I'l be starting my December challenge. For December, my goal will be to paint as many Infinity miniatures as I can. I got a lot when I had Miniature Market ship my orders that had been on hold and they seriously beefed up my Pile 'O Shame. I also want to complete my EIC and paint a huge vehicle I got for Dystopian Wars. So, next month looks to be busy.

A pile of great Infinity and Mercs stuff. I don't know jack about the figures themselves, but they certainly look very effective. I think my favourite of them is the pink and white-armoured archer lady. Looks a little like a hybrid of a Destiny Titan firing off the Hunter's Void Arrow special. Or a compound bow. :p

Well, I'm a bit behind, this month. I've got five Infinity figures primed and ready for paint though! My schedule was thrown off by a trip back to Nagoya to visit my brother. I was able to get back to work once I got back though.

On Friday, I started and finished another Rakshasa from the EIC. This time, the Booster. If I understand correctly, Boosters basically pump themselves up with combat stims. For whatever reason, Megacon didn't feel the need to sculpt the combat drugs onto him, like they have for other factions. Instead, they made him nearly identical to the Pathfinder.

Here's the Booster.

I know my hobby schedule is going to be further thrown off though. On Sunday the 11th, I got a dog! I've been wanting my own dog since I moved out three years ago and today it happened.

Here's my new buddy, Penelope.

Penelope, like Rat-Man-Do, is a Rat Terrier mix. She's 5 years old, which makes her older than Ratty and she's a little sausage. So, I'm going to have to work on trimming down her waistline (and hopefully mine as well while we're at it). She's was an owner surrender, so she seems to be housebroken and she's a total lapdog. All day she's been trying to just lay in my lap and get pet. Hopefully she's well past her destructive phase.
