... from the 'White Dwarf Online' newsletter:

This weekend, on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November, we have a very special treat for all Warhammer 40,000: Apocalypse enthusiasts; a truly astounding new Apocalypse Datasheet:

The Steel Fury Baneblade Squadron!

Why stop at one Imperial Baneblade when now you can bring the full might of an entire squadron to bear?

Visit any Games Workshop store in the UK or Northern Europe this weekend and pick up a copy of this immense new datasheet completely free and days before it appears anywhere else!

So any Dakkaites in the UK or Northern Europe, stop by and pick up a copy and give the rest of us poor schmucks the details.

Dude, just got that email myself. I'm psyched. Sounds like it'll be up with the oens they took down though. So not much longer to wait regardless. I figure the following friday we'll all have them, plus the ones taken down, and maybe a few more.

Sorry guys.  The local GW store here said they aren't allowed to even talk about the Bblade Sqdn datafax until Nov 12 ...  He did say that the stores in the UK were allowed to give them out though.

I have no idea what this policy accomplishes, but there it is...

off of Warseer

Not sure if posting a copy of the stats from a freely distributed document posted on Warseer is ok, but here goes.

t's a company, so like the other formations you must stay within range of the command tank and enter within range of the command tank's entry point, the range is 12" rather than 6" for some of the other formations.

If a super heavy is taken to 0 structure points by any of the three (using the main gun), then for each of the other baneblades that hit, you get +1 to the catastrophic damage table.

Tanks within 12" of the command tank ignore gunner shaken.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

How many more of the bloody things do I have to buy? 2 more?!?!?

And here is a silly Fat-Man thinking that with 2 Titans and 1 Baneblade, I would kick @ss.

As always, just kidding myself.

On topic though........WTF are they thinking? If these Data-faxes are going to be 'held up' due to some promo BS, who is it going to hurt if they release it sooner?
Seriously, after all of the hoop-la surrounding Apoc. I would do my darndest to release as many as I could, with as many Armies as possible...

It might seem a little churlish of me, but this WAS a tactic by GW to recover after the abortion that was LOTR? How is it benificial to GW or the player for that matter to hold sh*t up?

PS the datafaxes on the GW site are getting a bit old aren't they????

As I said in another thread, they should strike while the iron is hot. They should have had weekly datasheet releases since the book came out. Instead, they released a bunch, then released some by accident, then took those datasheets away, and now we're waiting longer for even new ones.

They must have monkey's managing them over there.

Ripped from ANotherFarseer on warseer:
Special Rules are as follows:

Formation: 3+ Baneblades

One Baneblade must be designated as the command tank.

1. Combined fire: Should a shot from any of the company's Baneblade cannons cause an enemy to roll on the catastrophic damage table, the roll is modified by +1 for each of the company's Baneblade cannons that hit it

2. The Ground Shakes: Any enemy wishing to assault any of the company's Baneblades must take a morale check, at -1 for each Baneblade within 12" of the command tank. If they fail, they may not assault that turn.

3. Strike Force: All Baneblades in the Steel Fury company must be deployed within 12" of the command tank, or, if coming on from reserve, they must enter the table within 12" of the point entered by the command tank.

4. Command Tank: Whilst the command tank is still mobile, any tank in the company within 12" of it (including the command tank itself) may ignore Gun crew shaken results on the super-heavy damage table.

Oddly enough only baneblades can use it. No hellhammers or other super heavies that use the baneblade chassis .

Dropped the ball and missed the boat.

Apocalypse has the potential to be a massive cash cow for GW and I can't believe that within 1 month of its release its been buried in WD by a mass of High Elf stuff. (And I'm a WHFB player and love the new HEs)

If someone other than a shaved monkey was running the show at GW you should be seeing.
2 complete months of WD dedicated to apocalypse.
Datafexes released each week. Each race should have a new datafex each fortnight (minimum 1).
Datafexes in PDF form batched together in one file for each race. Add a new one by tacking it on. And date the file so that if mods are made to the previously released datafex then you know you've got the most up to date version.
Instore events (at least this is happening)
FW tie in with an apocalypse book (should have been ready for the apocalype release and released this month)
A portion of the GW website allocated to people sending in pics with one line descriptions. Best/biggest battles/ pics could be shown.

Just a few ideas to get the kiddies spending.

There used to be a company that knew how to do that stuff. It was called GW. But now it's called Flames of War.

The lack of weekly PDFs is just dumb. Every time a new one leaks I have to fight the temptation to drop more cash on stuff I'll never use. After the last batch of PDFs I ended up with three Vindicare assassins and 15 more Bersekers before the fog lifted.

Waaagh and HBMC. Spot on. I think it is disgraceful how GW have backed up thier latest 40k expansion.

Released/rescinded datafaxes(if and when)

WD mags still missing the point.

I reaaaaallly want to get intothis version of 40k. GW are actually making one of the BIGGEST events in thier history turn into nothing more than a passing fad.

COD anyone?

As far as missing the boat is concerned, I'd say Apocalypse is well on the waning side already. By the time GW releases more datasheets, no-one will care.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Ja Ja , Pariah beat me to the punch, after I made some waffle about no apocalypse support.

But in all honesty, I have to buy another 2 now. After building the 1st, the others should be a lot easier for me to build.

I wonder how many will bite.

I've passed on the Baneblade so far because I can't see that I'd use it more than once. I'd rather buy a Battleforce for the price.

3 seems even further into the 'generally useless' category.

Well I happen to have 3 Baneblades (four if you count the Stormblade, but that isn't built yet), and I used this formation last weekend. The ignoring shaken weapons is nice, but worth 150? I don't think so. The combined fire thing is useless (who's firing Baneblades at enemy Super-Heavies?), and the ground shakes rule would be nice if Morale wasn't so utterly useless in 40K.

So, not worth 150 points, and not worth the wait we'll have to endure for next month's slow-but-steady Apoc release.

Who knows, maybe they'll leak 'em by accident again.
