As seen on TMP. World War II-style Rokkettruppen. I'm not one for ratzis, but could be a source of inspiration or bits.

At least from the picture, there don't seem to look like German troops, so there is that.

Geez, an almost Rabbiesque level of tolerence for Nazi-based humour. You should look into a career in film/tv censorship.

No of course not. I didn't expect anyone to actually take the statement as an endorsment of Nazism. I am surprised it has proved to be offensive.

Syr could have responded on a more mature/reserved level. Granted.*
But would you have taken him seriously?
I think I know where you're coming from. I'm not Jewish, only a few of my friends are Jewish, and the Nazis are mostly only relevant to my life in terms of wargaming and the History channel. But for some folks they are a genuinely unpleasant subject and the horrors they perpetrated are of more immediate relevance to their lives.
It's just not a cool thing to joke about. And some folks do so as a means of trolling in discussion forums, so that's what Syr thought you were doing. I believe you're a fairly new member, and overall it appears to me that you've been making a good contribution to the discussions, but not having an established positive reputation does mean that when you post something inappropriate, other posters are less likely to cut you slack. In this case, a trollish post drew a sharp response.
Not a big foul, (I hope) no real harm done. We welcome your contributions to the forum.
*Syr, on a side note, please try to report stuff like this to us, and restrain the flames, no matter how righteous they feel.

Are we really at the point where we have to explain that saying "Go Nazi's" can be offensive, especially in a thread started by a Rabbi? Regardless, if you just see Nazi's as a bunch of black and white pictures on the History Channel, the ideology remains today and is highly offensive to many people not just those who are Jews. You show your ignorance by uttering such garbage.

Thanks for the even-handed analysis of the situation. No I am not a new member, I have been around since mk II, and have always known you as a temperate moderator, I see that you still are. The same cannot be said of many contributors to this thread. For my part I probably should have known that the comment might have started some shenanigans. I think that some of the people that have responded are quite over-sensitive and have been slightly hysterical or, more likely, are really doing their best to be offended. Nonetheless I apologise to anyone that has been genuinely offended.

What they wouldn't like is some guy that hadn't seen what tortures and methods of death the Nazis had inflicted on the people they had encountered making light of it. There was a lot of what they had experienced that they never talked of, but what they did talk about was pretty bad.

Are you the type of guy that thinks it a horrible crime to make jokes about Islam? Serial-killers? Anything not quite bunnies-and-rainbows? This is one type of person that puzzles me, thinking it appropriate to force their own narrow-minded, ill-concieved views on morality onto those around them. (I'm assuming that you don't think it's appropriate for holocaust victims, their families, and those that fought to liberate them to make Nazi jokes, but rather it's entirely innappropriate behaviour for everyone, and I find this quite sad )
I'm also going to assume that any further attempt by myself to explain or justify my views on morality, conformity, and censorship will be taken as flaming by some readers, so at this point I'll withdraw from the conversation. Again, apologies to anyone that's been genuinely offended, and those merely feigning moral outrage as a means to troll, please carry on, I'll probably keep reading if nothing else.

Are you sure they're German/Nazi soldiers? They don't appear to be very uniform, or indeed wearing a uniform, Nazi or otherwise. The one on the right with the brown leather jacket is much more 'pulp hero' than 'flying Stormtrooper'.

This is the text from the TMP Posting:
During the first battle of Berlin in '45, the Germans used a small unit of Hitler Youth wearing the first generation of rocket packs to try and change the outcome of the battle.
These rocket packs were limited in flight time and motion. Flight time was about 60 seconds. This allowed the Sky Rocket pilot to lift into the air, about the height of a three-story building, spot a target, fly about 60 feet, then hover over their target allowing them to use their weapon. They would then try to find a safe place to land before the fuel ran out.
The children ranged from 12-18 and were led by an SS officer. All were awarded the Iron Cross first class before making their flight, because most would not return.
These first rockets were hard to maneuver, and the limited flight time hindered them.
Many were rigged in the field with various weapons. The most common was a pouch with grenades that was opened over their target and let drop.
Very few reached their target, as many were quickly shot down as they tried to hover, when they were at their slowest. Others dropped from the sky as they lost power. There are some cases where results were very good and showed that if used correctly, the rocket packs were a potent weapon.
One example of a victory: A young man used a one-shot flame thrower rigged to it. The pilot skillfully maneuvered over a platoon of Russians, sending the fire down upon them. The Russians broke off the attack, and the survivors retreated, allowing a surrounded squad of trapped SS to escape from a pinned-down position in a large crater.
You can find them now in the Victory Store in the N.E.W. War section or in the Newest Products section.
As to Jazz's comment: I take him at his word that he didn't mean to incite or flame, just thought he was being humorous. In the process, he correctly pointed out the probem of the internet: determining intent. I probably made things worse, but what can you do. Now we know.
And Knowing is half the battle!

In which case the models don't really fit my mental image of 'SS rocket children'. In my head they're more ill fitting helmets, red arm bands, spiky blond hair cuts and pimples. There should be a female one with a 'Heidi' haircut too.
BTW: The Glossary entry for 'SS' needs fixing.

Personally, I like the idea of jump pack Imperial guardsmen as converted rough riders much more than I like these models.
Space Marine or Seraphim jump packs attached to GW Storm troopers, Adepts Arbites, or whatever IG variant sounds pretty cool to me. These models, not so much.

Aww...aren't we all cozy?
Now that everyone is friends again, let me say that even thought the text calls these dudes Hitler Youth Nazi rockettruppen, (an idea that I think is overall stupid and unnecessary, even for a pulp game - call me a hypocrite, but it's the Hitlerjugend part that bothers me the most -), there is absolutely nothing that I can see from these pictures that would give me a visual connection to the 3rd Reich or the Hitler Youth, even after reading the text.
Looking closely, I guess I can see little Iron Crosses on their necks, but still....not drawing the HJ connection.
That said, the models are okay. Just okay.
