So I'm working on my Kroot-as-Venusian-Parrotmen for Victorian Sci-Fi, and I want them to have some kind of 'contraption' (in GASLIGHT terms, we're talking about a vehicle of the small airship/steamtank or steam powered robot variety). Knarlocs would be ideal as support 'vehicles', but I ain't paying Forgeworld prices for a piece of warped resin.

I was thinking about doing something with a krootox head, but I need a suggestion for the body. Any ideas? Alternatively, if there's something 'kroot-esque' out there that might work (giant bird thing with howdah, etc.) happy to see it.

(I'm thinking of the VOID terasaurs as support beasts for my eventual Venusian pygmy--i.e. Skink--army, so no dice there).

you could go Mad Max. Jeeps backed up by some kind of APC. With Kroot guns, the heavy type and open topped with small arms.

as for 'Kroot'-esque, no clue. GW really nailed something almost new with Kroot.

krootox head on any dinosaur or large lizard ought to work. A giant ostridge would be perfect.

For my Tau army I simply modified a Warhammer fantasy Carnosaur. Looks great and is easy to do.

Hrmn, well I do have a box of Tamiya 1/35 raptors. Could use those with some modification.

If I took pics it'd be of sprues in a ziploc bag. Kroot have such a crazy primitive with foreign tech look that the idea of them as alien Askaris (which is essentially what they are in the 40k universe) shouldn't be too hard to achieve. I'm just debating giving them loincloths or something to reflect the 'civilizing' nature of the Raj on Johnny Offworlder.

Another thought: what about krootox heads on a gorilla or similar 'upright' type body (I'm thinking larger than the krootox himself...)?

I always figured a Kroothound head on a Steed of Slaanesh body with some chicken wings added on would look quite spiff.

And by "spiff" I mean "goofily-awesome".

i bought a couple of these for my Kroot to ride..



these are from Starship Troopers which were all recently reduced to make way for v2. I paid £4 each for them.

Kroot heads from the inquisitor range might also work, if you can still get them as bitz?
