who has a ps3 and what are your thoughts about it?

Love mine. Blu Ray is crystal clear, games are excellent + they are actually releaseing a bunch of titles for '08. First year was a bit slow, but I think this is PS3's year to shine. The online content is cheap and i do not have to pay a monthly/ yearly fee to pay online games.

Lies and deception! 360 has more games and more varied prices and look just as good in all reality. Really it is a coin toss. I have a 360 and Wii and eventually I'll have a PS3. Some friends have it and it's a nice system. If you are looking for some shining light from on high to say that this system or that one is the best one ever it won't happen. They are both good systems. I know it sucks if you aren't a fanboy that blindly follows a company.

i have to agree with all of you guys.
it is the year for the ps3 to shine and show everyone what the ps3 made of.
even those hardcore xbox fans are going to start following the ps3.

I still haven't seen a must have game for PS3.

The Xbox 360 has come closest so far with the sci-fi RPG
from that company (name escapes me atm), but since I'm

Yeah, PS3 has nothing on it I want that I can't get on 360. Nor anything planned.

i have only playeda ps3 only a few yimes but i loved it it was so much better then the 360 yo

I only have one problem with the PS3:

i dont have anything against xbox, and its a good one.my favorite game for the xbox is gears of war.

but like i said, personally id take the ps3 any day.

gears of war is cool but call of duty 4 on the 360 is the best ever no contest i haven't realy found a good game that i realy like on the ps3 but the ones i have played were awesome

yes gears of war is good but wait till you play call of duty 4 on the ps3.
im only saying this because ive played the game on both systems and they were both great but it was just a better experiance for me on the ps3...

Well Dynasty Warriors 6 just came out on ps3 (not sure if its out on other systems or not) and it is really really good. They revamped a lot of the system and all of the characters from the old games so there is a lot of differences but the heart of the game (human bowling) is still there. Nothing like getting 1000+ hit combo's and killing off a similar number of warriors in fuedal China.

I bought a 360 this week. until then I played mostly wii with some PS2 games here and there. I love my Wii, the problem is, that Nintendo can be so DAMN slow when it comes to releases. I'll probably get Brawl in june, but I haven't heard of anything they'll make after that. so I needed a another next-gen system. in the end, I stuck with the Box, because they already have a bunch of good games I wanna play. PS3 has so far, let me count.....2 exclusives I'm interested in and it wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if Konami would announce MGS4 for the 360 too.

I went PS3 - if only for the fact that if Microsoft wins the console war, the next big console will be the Xbox Vista, and the 360's around the world will all mysteriously red-ring-of-death on the day of release. MS does a good job of trampling competition in incumbent markets then crapping all over its user-base once they no longer have a choice.

I'm still a PC gamer for the most part (Crysis on a capable system certainly looks better than CoD4 or Halo) - RTS's and WOW are still dominated by PC. So really it just comes down to action/adventure, console rpgs, and HD content. I think both consoles are fairly even so far in those departments. Aside from no Mass Effect (Ouch! I love bioware... Maybe PC?). I guess a blueray player is a bonus? I'll know if I ever run out of stuff to watch from netflix streaming and have to buy a disc again...

On some level: MS hater = Sony fanboi. So I guess that's my camp now.

I have all three systems and I would have to rate them in the following order:

1. 360 - True it came out a year ahead of the rest, so It has a great selection of games, plus some killer A list exclusives - such as Gears of war, Halo etc...

2. PS3 - Blue ray is huge for me! After I watched the Spider-man series in Blue ray I was sold! Plus with Blue ray being the winner in the HD war, you can't go wrong.

So far I have just three games: Resistance: Fall of man, Folklore and I just recently bought Lair with the rumor of analog control for the game, it seems cool to me for now. I actually don't mind the control scheme too much.

The main draw back as others have mention is lack of exclusive killer apps. I think this year will be really good for PS3, but the system really needs the game that makes people go, "damn I have to get that!!" Gears did it with me for the 360.

3. Wii - good for groups of people, but beyond that I really don't like the system. I mainly use it for retro gaming, which I find so sad. I still need to get Mario Galaxy and possibly No more Heroes, but beyond that, there really isn't that much that makes me want to play it more. Nintendo really drops the ball when it comes to 3rd party developers.

Overall, I love my PS3, which I have been using more and more. It needs plenty of space as it tends to run hotter than the 360, at least that has been my experience. I have actually had my system lock up due to heat issues.

The games while few at this point, are really good IMHO. As I said I think this year will rock for the PS3, especially with MGS4, which I could see it come out on the 360, but I'd still get it for the PS3, for nostalgia sake.

I have a PS3 as well. Blu-Ray movies rock, and as someone stated already, Blu-Ray won the war so bye bye HD-DVD and the XBOX add-on.

I'll have to also agree with a number of others that are stating this year the PS3 is really going to shine. I don't know how many of you have been following game development and blogs/releases, but the way a game is made is quite a bit different on the PS3 than the Xbox. Game developers are really starting to get their heads wrapped around the way to make a game for the PS3 now (quite a few of them are starting design on the PS3 version first now). It's my HO that you'll see some really big differences in the games that come out this year compared to the ones in 2007. Look at how long it took Gears of War, arguably an AWESOME game for Xbox, to come out.

As far as exclusives go, can I say Gran Turismo? Go look at some screenshots if you haven't yet. Breathtaking.

2007 was a disappointing year for the playstation 3. I bought one at launch and had to suffer through the 6 month drought in which there were literally no good exclusives released for it.

Then september came and there were too many to choose from.

From what I can see, 2008 will definitely not be a repeat of last year.

Games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Killzone 2, Haze, Little Big Planet, God of War 3 and the implementation of PS Home will hopefully launch Sony back into the comfortable groove it has occupied for the last 7 years.

That said, the X360 is still an awesome machine but apart from Fable 2 and Gears of War 2, this years releases are not quite as enticing as the PS3's offerings.

Either way this year is gonna be an awesome one for gamers, no matter what systems they own. GTA4 anyone?

EA said september will be the Spore release date. They may push it back but at least it's not a stupid gamestop/amazon release date. I'm gonna be making a legion of penisaurs.

In about 2 years it won't really matter which console you own. Metal Gear Solid 4 will pretty much be the last exclusive title released for a console. It's simply too expensive to make a game. In order to make any type of profit you need to sell over a million copies. To date only 2 games for the PS3 have managed to break that number. MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man. It's just not cost effective to make exclusive games anymore. Granted, some devs are locked into some contracts that they can't get out of (Bungie, you poor bastards) but for the most part you'll see cross platform games on just about everything.

That's different. 1st parties will obviously continue to make their own games, but 3rd party companies will be spreading the love.

So.... I have a PS3 on the way thanks to my other half renewing her phone contract.

What should I get to start? I really havent been paying a lot of attention to PS3 and have never actually played one yet.

Will I need an HDMI cable to upscale DVD?

Last year I bought a P3 for my brothers as a Xmass gift and took it to them when I went back to Europe mainly to avoid the 3~4month wait Sony slapped on the european market, for months after the release we had to endure no games and the P2 games my brothers had did not work on the stupid machine. When at last the new titles came they did not work because they were running a japanese machine rather than the inferior and more expensive european one. I tried to make up for that sending the latest japanese releases but alas the P3 needs an update that can´t be made due to being japanese............... so I have decided to globalize my games back to the PC with a new machine and to send the P3 and all other Sony products to hell. Make from this what you want but I´m recomending a big NO to the P3 in case you don´t have it yet.

Not gonna happen, it has been officially announced that it will be a PS3 exclusive. If Konami goes back on that then I will have lost all faith in them.
