Saw this on the Lead Adventure Forum. Posted on someone's blog. I know for me and a lot of people, part of the appeal of AT43 was Paolo Parente's involvement, and there were many of us who hoped it would in fact BE the Dust PMG. This looks like it might be the real deal. 35mm isn't that far from AT-43 compatibility either. Anyway, if this is really happening, I'm happy. Just to clarify: I like AT43. I've got enough Red Blok and Space Monkeys to prove it. But this makes me happy too!

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil |

I think my wallet just had a heart attack.
I'm a huge Dust fan I've been looking for a 35mm dust game ever since they had a couple of prototypes 3 years ago at gencon.

Its what Risk should have been. Its not exactly risk, per se, but it is still in the same family. its a good game.
The activation is very reminiscent of AT-43....
Edit
As far as DUST the prepainted wargame, I hope it is more skirmish with awesome characters than it is a squad based wargame. AT-43 already fits the squad based criteria quite well, but we need DUST/ AT-43 as a skirmish game.

Pre-painted? By Parente? This is going to change the nature of prepaints, and may be exactly what they need to overtake GW. Sweet.

Actually Parente is quite involved in AT, too.

There are acouple new updates on the site. The scylpting on the figure looks to me a lot better that AE-WW2 stuff, and the walker meets my expectations.

I'd like to point out that the DUST board game (the RISK-style one) is distributed by Fantasy Flight games. To quote Zoolander, "They're so hot right now."

It´s very good. Take the best of Axis & Allies and Risk and add a nice card activation system and you get Dust. It is fast but still allows a lot of tactics. In arecent game my ground based troops were overrun, but I still managed to stay afloat since I still held air supremacy.

Wow, Anastasia looks really great! The model really has a sense of flow. The walker looks clunky, but I guess that's intentional.

Fist things first, yes I am the same CATterrain fanboy from the AT-43 Forum... shoot me now, but AT-43 (just getting into C:AoR too) is my miniature game of choice. Second, I am a gamer at heart (AmeriTrash, EURO, Wargames, and RPGs ... CCGs not so much anymore) and have been for many, many years. Sadly, I've seen scores of games come and go (WEG StarWars, SW: CCG, WizKids, etc, or thorough my own disdain of a companies multi-version attrition read 40K). Let it be known that I have also been a play-tester for Fantasy Flight Games and Eden Studios as well, (plus I've run games for both companies at GenCon back in the early 2000s). I was also a demo-dog/tourney rep for Decipher and WizKids too back in the day. With my whose/who & mini-intro out of the way, I will now propose my question ( PS. I can also be very long winded, and let it be known I prefer the word "meticulous" over anal retentive ... but either fit).
¿WTF is happening with the AT-43 and Confrontation universes?
I ask because not only is DUST TACTICS miniaturegame/boardgame set for a summer 2010 release (I'm guessing they will be at GenCon and Origins in official form via AEG), but now I have read about the CADWALLON: CITY OF THIEVES boardgame too (name of the free city in the word of C:AoR/Aarklash). I understand that DusT is not AT-43 (!), but it sure does look similar due to the same game/art designer for both games. Cadwallon:CoT only adds to my confusion. WTF? Is it just me, or are the legal-buzzard-lawyers circling this topic like dead road kill? Ideas, opinions .... but mostly information???
LONG LIVE AT-43/C:AoR ... Welcome DUST/CADWALLON.

This has only been in development for what? 5 years? Its about time...
...too bad we didn't get this sooner though, I feel that systems like AE-WW2 and SOTR, etc. have devalued the genre.

If they can get even half of the 1/35 scale figs squared away for tabletop, then I'm all in.
I wouldn't mind getting about five boxes of the zombies and doing a proper zombie fight with the mechs and the added fun of adding it to my SOTR stuff.

Word from previous TGN updates is that these will be pre-basecoated to differentiate between forces, but not pre-painted for those of us who want to paint them.

basecoated? i'm suprised they don't just mold them in different colored plastic like most board games do. that way you don't have any loss of detail from recoating them in the color you want.

Sometimes there is a loss in quality of plastic due to molding in color. Take a look on the Privateer Press forums about the difference between the Grind Warjacks and the regular Warmachine Plastic Warjacks.

i saw people mentioning there when i searched now that they're lower detail/quality but not that the color is the cause. they're lesser quality because they're for a board game and not a minis game from what i read. do you have a link to where the color is linked to less detail? i've never heard that before.

The Grind mini's are identical to the WM Plastics, only molded with different plastic and in color. There is no loss in detail or anything of the sort, only that they use a different kind of plastic, relating to having to be molded in color.
