Years ago I bought a Praetorian regiment for a standard mixed guard army. Stelek has posted a very interesting list. But, I'd need a bunch more figures to fill it.

Praetorians are OOP, and the GW staff in Maryland is recommending Ebay. I called the UK, and they say that while they can't promise, that there is a strong likelihood that the Praetorians will get into the BITZ catalog later in the year.

BUT, it would help if potential buyers expressed some interest in the figures.

So, if you are bidding on Praetorians on EBAY, consider sending a note to GW UK asking if they might prefer to sell you some new Praetorians instead. It would help me! Remember Michael Caine in Zulu.....

Also, with the drop from any GW availability, the cost of Praetorians has risen pretty dramatically on ebay.

Really? How much is squad going for? I have at least 1 squad, maybe 2, that I can get rid off.

Hmm, time to go see what I have in storage at the shop. I remember getting in a collection with about a dozen blisters and 3 sentinels. Hadn't realized they were missing from the new bitz catalog.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Does anyone make seperate british colonalist heads? Seems plastic Canadians with metal heads ought to fit right in.

Canadians will look a little bit scrawny in the guard, unless you only recruit lumber jacks and hockey players.

Good thought, Kid Kyoto - I checked West Wind and they only have WWII heads, nothing any earlier that is separate. What other companies do separate head sets these days? (That look decent, 'course)

Amazon minis does seperate heads but I think it might only be ancients.

Would the broad rimmed bret helmets fit in? They look like WWI British helmets.

They still sell Praetorian special weapons, don't they? It was my understanding they were going to try and bundle the Praetorians up into squad packs, like how they did the Tallarns.

It might be a case where the molds have worn out and they no longer have the masters to make new molds, in which case you are sol.

I read once they were reviled by the GW game designers, but they are probably all gone by now. I, as a long time Praetorian IG player loved that they were mentioned in the 3rd ed. codex, but the got no love or mentions in the latest codex.

How hard is it to give a mention or two about Praetorians in the IG codex? YOU guys (GW) made the models, show some respect to us who bought them then and now go to great lengths to continue to play our beloved Praetorians

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... i love my praetorians http://jeremycobert.homeip.net/gallery/index.php?displaypic=preatorian%20guard%2F100_0721.JPG
i was really disappointed when they didn't get any special rules in the IG codex.it seems like every other lesser known regiment got doctrines except us. which i guess is good, because we get to chose our own doctrines.

When I'm in power, here's how I'm gonna put the country back on its feet. I'm going to put sterilizing agents in the following products: Sunny Delight, Mountain Dew, and Thick-Crust Pizza. Only the 'tardiest of the 'tards like the thick crust.

I hope they bring them back and do selectable model choices still. I need ten more each of the Standing and Aiming and the Kneeling and Aiming models.

@Platuan4th - I think you just hit on exactly why the designers might have reviled them.

<Time Machine Trip Back to the Initial Design for Praetorians>
Designer 1: What poses should we do for these guys?
Designer 2: Hm. Well, considering the source material we're using for inspiration on these, we should have one posed as if he's standing and aiming.
Designer 1: Oh! And we can have another that is kneeling and aiming! Hey, what else?
Designer 2: We can do another one that is wounded!
Designer 1: That's great! How about...hm.
Designer 2: Hrm. Oh, we could....no. Hm.
Designer 1: ...
Designer 2: ...

Every regiment had a Stand and Aim guy, plus Praetorians are just re-headed Mordians except for the wounded models and the Kneeler, so not much of a design meeting, I'd assume.

Agree with Platuan above. There weren't more poses because they just reconfigured the head models on Mordians.

I am not asking for them to re release or even give special rules really, just mention them once in a while in the codex or WD.

I do hope they bring them back as part of the C&C range, even if its only a Squad Box and the different Heavy & Special Weapons, would be better then nothing.

If they dont though the Phoenix Club if your familiar with them are going to make available a Cadian to Praetorian conversion set and a Praetorian Roughrider Set hopefully in the not too distant future, which basicly means when I get off my arse an finish sculpting em

You could also use the heads from west wind on cadians, either the ones from the WWII range, or the ones with gas masks from the SoTR range. I vote gas masks, myself. Kinda mixing eras, but why not. Hell, have Palladian Rough riders (bretts with Rough rider lances) and do the whole range of british fanservice.

Quoted for truth. Frankly, I'm surprised GW bothered with the Vostroyans when players really want more versatile models. It seems to me that Vostroyans are about the opposite of this - friggin' big hats and funny coats.

much as I love Praetorians I can't ever see them being mainstream enough to warrant a plastic kit.

a generic long coated guard set would be nice though. I love adapting cadians and another guard set would be great, Impy Guard are the most customisable of all the 40k armies.

Very nice sleazy, I'll look forward to seeing more in the future then, and thankyou!

I'd also have to concur, as much as I love Praetorians they simply dont warran a plastic kit, while an army will often draw some attention it can often be as much outa curiousity as anything, there simply are'nt enough people who would consider collecting a whole army of them when compaired to the likes of the Valhallans and even Tallarns. The DKoK has shown the desire there is out there for such models, and wetted the appetite of many who would love to own such an army but simply cant justify FW prices, GW could easily cash in on something that would sell better.
