I actually quite like the Chapter that is in last place. The idea is really, really good. I just think it got a tiny bit too 1337.

Yep, it's set to end exactly 7 days after it started, which should be roughly as Ediin said...

I guess that means that the poll has closed. In which case:

Congratulations To Jimsolo and His Chapter, The Tomb Sentinels, on Winning The Dakka Create A Chapter Kompetition!

I can now reveal that the contestants were:

1st - Jimsolo - Tomb Sentinels
2nd - ZoomDakkaDakka - Imperial Hornets
3rd - Fifty - Hive Rats
4th - Ediin - Dark Avengers
5th - Wolf - Praetorians of Mars
6th - Not_U - Igneus Ultionis
7th - SilverMK2 - Censeo Biologis

Congratulations to Jimsolo, I will be in contact with SSminiatures about your prize, as you can do also if you wish; his account is Hits_the_spot.

Commiserations to those who took part and those who wanted to.

It's been enjoyable and should I get the time, I'll run a similar competition in the (not-so-near) future. Well done to everyone though, you were all very cooperative (coincidentally Jim was also the quickest with his responses - Karma?!) and I was VERY IMPRESSED with the quality of the Chapters.

Congratulations guys, thank you for the support and enjoyment, feel free to keep commenting/discuss or whatnot.

Regards, Dave.

I was really surprised you came last man! I thought yours was cool. Commiserations buddy, you were a pleasure to work with however.

I have to admit, the Praetorians had my favourite colour scheme whilst the Tomb Sentinels were also my favourite...

Congratulations Jimsolo! I actually though your fluff was the most interesting. Although Necrons still suck so bad you need no skills to fight them

When I wrote the fluff for the Dark Avengers, I wanted to make sure it was not something along the lines of: My chapter is 1337 HURR!!,
which is why I created the Erasmael Incident (Mae Laser, hahaha) where the Dark Avengers actually lost. I thought this would make them more realistic.
Sadly, not everyone thought so.

In the beginning, the Dark Avengers were at last place. However, in the last few days, they jumped to 4th place! Yaaay!

Censeo Biologis actually had my favorite fluff, and my second favorite color scheme (after Tomb Sentinels).

My only beef with them is their insignia. I see that it's supposed to be a metal cog and a biological single-cell organism flowing into one another, but it just looks... wonky. I dunno. Too busy to be a good insignia, I guess. Simpler is better.

Anyway, Tomb Sentinels got my vote, but CB was a very close second for me.

The logo was actually the logo I made for my university's society (Biomedical Engineering Society) with the name/lettering changed. The reason it looks wonky and rubbish was because I had to edit and resize it in paint, which as everyone knows is the worlds worst image editor

But I am glad that people liked them.

Actually, it's not so much the fact that the lines are blurred, but the actual design of the thing.

Logos are meant to be easy to understand, eye-catching, and memorable. Speaking as a former graphics designer.

It took me a few minutes to understand exactly what it was, and that's because there's simply too much going on in there.

I like to call it "Cow Tools." If you've ever read Gary Larson's Far Side comics, you're familiar with the term. There are a lot of little things in there that don't mean anything in the context they're in, but they make you start wondering what they mean, and it gets confusing. That arrow, for example, and some of the biological bits. What do they mean? In the context of CB, nothing, but people will wonder what they mean simply because they're there and they look important, and it confuses the issue.

A better way to do that logo would be to make, say, left side very clearly a metal cog (or something clearly mechanical), right side something clearly biological, and just leave it at that. No extra little fiddly bits, no letters (not really necessary, people know they're Censeo Biologis, so the CB isn't needed). Perhaps a skull with half of its face replaced with cybernetic parts (not TOO many cybernetic parts, or they'll be confused with Inquisitorial servo-skulls)?

Simple, clear, and memorable.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. Originally the logo was remaining quite large, so it was clearer what everything was. However, I was asked to resize it so that it was smaller, which was not so good for a complex logo

Again, if my PC with photoshop and illustrator was working I would either have redesigned it or done a new one, but as it was I only had paint

I think you should have said something like "their armour can survive the Life-Eater virus". Then it it would have clicked that that's what they're for: Super Bio-Hazard troops.
