Did you guys have any problems of some armies sitting back and just firing? We were thinking of adding objectives and scoring them similar to the 40K video game. You run up and put a marker on the objective. At the beginning of your turn you score points for each objective claimed.
We had a fair mix of armies I'm pleased to say, mate. Two 'horde' armies, one of which was Orks and the other Tyranids. I don't recall the exact model counts, but they were both in the low thirties I believe. Two plague marine teams, one Tau list mixed with a huge battlesuit and some fire warriors, a sternguard list (very versatile with the ammo), a necron list, a Sisters of Battle list and an
IG list. Although it didn't work out well for him in the end due to bad rolls, I still believe that the
IG list was probably the best one there. Again, can't remember exact numbers, but it was something like ten ratlings and eight or so rough riders.
As for sitting back and firing... I did it (with Necron Immortals), the
SoB list did it, the Sternguard did it and both Plague Marine lists did it. That's just how it works out I guess. The boards are so small that you can be in range on the first turn a lot of the time. It was a great laugh and nice and brief which was necessary because of the store opening hours, but I think it would definitely be more fun with objectives of some sort.
