Hey there LDP, how's it going dude? Hey would you mind PM'ing me a step by step guide on how you paint your Ultramarines. I'm taking a leaf out of Nerdfest's book and I am really keen to paint you up a marine. I've never painted Ultra's so it will be a very cool learning curve for me and help to break up my painting workload. Any time would be cool. Keep up the good work dude, I look forward to seeing more of your awesome Ultrasmurfs!

Update time! Looky what I finally bought! A finecast chaplain. I figured it was about time.
Contrare to most, I think the quality is fine, a great and detailed mini. Sadly (for you guys ) i'm going to be away from Thursday-Sunday so I can't do any work on the blog, but I can still talk to you guys and answer any questions, so keep posting!

I am yet to get my first fine cast, keen for Canis, but I probably won't end up fielding him so seems like a waste... Might have to get something I simply like the look of.

the only finecast model ive seen was the lord commisar

i think it was nice but the guy who painted it used three coulors, and they were way too thick i couldnt see the detail. And to top it all off he hadnt even painted the parts right, literealy half the face was bright pink the other red, the rest of the pink was on the boots, the boots! i went home and looked at the price of the mini and i cried a little inside.

Haha! What a shame! Although I suppose a block of paint can still be game worthy considering you can see his gun, sword and hat!

Hey all!
That's right! I couldn't resist, so I brought my paint station on holiday with me! (it wasnt overseas or anything). So i've had lots of free time here at my bach and managed to get the Chaplain painted (beautifully if I may say so myself ) up in a mere 2 days! [I cant do the base because I don't have everything with me] but i'm extremely pleased with the head, armour and the blue shoulder pad (i'm very proud of the 'U' freehand)
This was my first resin peice so be nice :p, on and p.s what's the best way to glue them? Plastic? Super? Mix?
So, enjoy the pics.

What you want to use is super glue- plastic glue has no adhesive effect on non-plastics. And the U is pretty good, besides that it looks a bit chunky at this resolution. Otherwise, it's looking rather nice, though I wouldn't personally want to take my paints on vacation, at least to free myself of guilt, if nothing else.

By the way, what are the parts of the chaplain? Just the body and the jump pack?

Nice work. Kaesar II

Looks cool. Did you paint the words on the scrolls? If you did there is a easier way to do the writing. Just buy a .25 sharpie. You can find them at micheals or probably any other craft store. Nice pieces.

Wow dude nice chappie! works a treat! now it appears you should stop painting such nice models as you seem to be distracting jirc from painting his own mini's! *insert frowny face at jirc here!* the 'u' is nicely done, a touch thick in the pics but it could be the actual pic? but the face and tabbard are tops! love the worn look to it, like it's been used for ages and is nicely weathered with the glory of battle!

keep it up dude, next thing you know you'll be painting on the loo, painting in bed, painting in the bath..... be careful don't want to have an intervention now do we!

Hahaha! But I want to paint more!
Oh and explaining the 'u', the models in my store have a sort of general, layered 'chalky' look to them which I love (its chalky without being drybrushed and is somehow really thin too.) and in an attempt to copy that, I did several thin heavily diluted layers of astronomican grey until nice and uniform, the picture makes the 'u' slightly chunky but in real life the thickness is almost impossible to see.

Yeah, it kind makes the models look 'smaller' and more complete (in a way)?

Hehe Jirc, you asked for it, so you got it!
P.S does anyone know the best stages in which to assemble then paint land raiders? the build looks pretty confusing.
ANYWAY,
I painted the interior for y'all today, and did a dry fit and took some pics, also included are pics of the new tactical squad I built ready for painting (once i've done the command squad.)
Enjoy what ya' see lads!

I find building the sides first is a good way to start on the raider then you can paint the interior detals and pop him all together and add the top part then touch up any paint and edge highlight until you're done! easy! :-)

Piece of advice I would offer, from personal experience-- the mechanism for the front hatch, though cool, breaks pretty easily. You may find it conducive to have some alternate form of closure for the front hatch, if you want the interior to remain.

Hey lads, unfortunately I didn't get any painting done today, BUTTTTT
I made myself a kinda 'crude' light box, and want to know your opinions, do you like the pics more or less then my usual stuff? I snapped shots of pretty much all my HQ models [except for my command squad lads [got like 4 command squads not featured ])
here are pics. The pics are in chronologic order from dates when I painted them. I also put close ups on a few guys. I did close ups of the plasma cannon and plasma gun guys from my tactical squad too
ANOTHER PROBLEM!
Golden Demon is coming up soon, and since i've painted some more minis recently, the choice has gotten harder! how do I make a poll thing?
we need to pick two of the following: (there have been pics of em all dotted round the blog, so you should know who they are!)
Captain with relic blade and storm shield
Veteran with PW/SS (the one with the axe and GK helmet
Apothecary brother Aeven
My Latest captain (SB, Relic Blade/PW)
And my chaplain
