Why the heck haven't I commented on this log before? You have great stuff here, your Orks are really nicely painted, mate.
The looters are very fun, everyone seems to love playing around with looter conversions! I really need to dig up some Orks from my bits box for the Waargh Dakka after reading this...
Very nice Killa Kans, by the way, and the head conversion on the dred is funky cool. Dads are quite good for inspiration aren't they? Mine used to walk past my room and shout 'More colour!' all the time...
If you're still having issues with sponge weathering I have found that adding a little water to the paint on the sponge helps with application. You need to dab the excess water off first, but I have found it much easier.
Subscribed, keep up the good work and let's have that battle report!! Except without the naked feet, please

UPDATE!
I was a little bored with my Orks, so I decided to get a box of these fantastic Mantic zombies. They're the first mob of my new counts-as-tyranids zombie army. The swarmlord will be a crazy scientist riding a dredknight equipped with gigantic, deadly looking syringes full of bright green liquid, and the bigger nid things will be build from ork nobs, ogres, beastmen, zombies riding sentinels and the like.....
But so far I've only got this box of 30 zombies, and I'll do some more Ork stuff before I get around to more zombies. Lacking funds.....
From now on, expect the odd zombie update among the many ork ones!
The first five: [Edit: exchanged the first pic]
SelvaggioSaky wrote:I like them, but a bit of boltgun metal drybrushed on the nuts and metal plates on the wheels would look good imo
Thanks, I'll consider it!

Thanks, I'll finish the trukk now and post it within the next few days

Thanks a lot and welcome to the blog!
I already thin all my paints a lot, including the ones I use for sponge weathering.... But I guess it's gotten much better on the trukk compared to the kan.....

Thanks for the comment! Yes, I can indeed play around with the idea! Maybe I should get the nid dex and write a propa nid-swarm list.... But I definetly want a horde of 60+ zombies (gants) surging towards the enemy in a huge, rotten tide.
Next updates will (likely) be the biker boss, more zombies, the trukk, and maybe some more traitor guard

The zombies look great. Good green skin tone and blood is shown in needed amounts.
Few ideas to improve would be to add some darker blood by adding a bit of black to the red. That would make the blood look older. The cloth areas also lack contrast to the skin, a bit of more different color or darker borders would add a lot to the overall look.
The zombies look really nice and especially so in the larger pics in the Gallery, thanks for sharing.

That is a great idea! I would absolutely love to fight against your zombie nids, hehe.
If you wanted to keep it "in universe" you could always make your leader a DE Hemmy or Nurgle of some sort (FW has some cool stuff that could be appropriated). Or just have Fabius Bile riding a Zombie Hive tyrant, Like A Boss.

UPDATE!
My cam suffered from "batterius morticus", so I had to recharge it before I could take new pics..... otherwise I'd have posted this yesterday....
So, here is the finished trukk:

Thanks a lot for the advice! My plan was to paint the zombies in groups of five, and every group slightly different from the others. I hope the mob as a whole looks better/more random then....
And I'll use the old-blood technice for some of them.... but I'll probably use a brown instead of black, looks more organic....

I'll try to keep them a little more 40k-ish, by adding imperial stuff.

Dark brown works also well in getting the old blood, so you'll well with it. I use black to that came naturally to my mind.
The trukk looks lovely, the variation on the yellow and metal tones is great. I think you did the right choice with the brownish tires, they fit it like fist in the eye.

Thanks. I also think many Ork vehicles are too clean, so I dirty them up a little more to compensate for that

That wreckin ball arm is ace and helps to add a feeling of speed. Personally I don't think I would have the rear wheel that far back, you already have one engine on the back of the deffkopa anyway. Two engines on a bike might be a little excessive even for orks.

@nerdfest: Thanks a lot mate!
@Bangbangboom: Thanks. Yeah, the wheel is pretty far back... hm... but the deffkopta engine seems a little too weedy for that big tire. Maybe cut it off and relace it with a slightly bigger engine?
