I have my army mostly ready but I am concerned about playing 1850 games in 2 hours. It usually takes closer to 3 for any games over 1500. Will the favorite army/painting scores be judged by our peers or by a checklist? Is it just the honor system on creating fluffy/themed lists or will there be some standard of list design we need to follow? Thanks.

Hey guys, sorry for the static lately. With Davis leaving and having to hire/train/etc. new staff and deal with all the issues associated with a core team member leaving, I haven't had a lot of time to make sense of the blur the last couple months have been.

Unfortunately, we have yet another Magic Pre-release tournament going down on the second Saturday, and according to Q, July is going to be pretty busy for some of the players out there, which muddies the water even further. We have a couple options:

1 - Run a mega battle / alt event on the 13th this month, and re-schedule the Fluff tourney to go down in August. This has the benefit of not abandoning the 40k event for the month completely, and makes sure that everyone's in and out before the store gets crushed again for the Saturday pre-release in the afternoon/evening. On the other hand, we've gotten some good traction behind the competitive events (19 players at the last one!), so running back-to-back months of fun/fluff type stuff might be less than ideal.

2 - Run a regular RTT tournament in July, possibly on the third weekend. This keeps the tournament event rolling, while it does throw the regular schedule off and we will be rubbing shoulders with the board game meetup all day.

3 - We can run the Fluff tournament in July, on the third Saturday instead of a regular event if everyone prefers. This option has the same issues as the above.

What do you guys think? I'm happy to move dates around to fit the event into July, it's just been expressed to me that people don't have a lot of time this month and trying to shoe-horn the event in might throw things off...

Im for the RTT 1500 on the third weekend, and the fluffyness of fluffydom in august. personally.

Armies I play:
-5000 pts

Mechanicus -1850 pts

I would like a regular RTT the third weekend as well. Perhaps a 1750-2000 point tournament to prepare for upcoming tournaments (Golden Throne GT is 2k but many other GTs are going to be 1850 like the upcoming Feast of Blades).

Probably not going to go any higher than 1500, particularly if we are doing an off event. When we jump up points, it'll be a thing, we'll schedule extra time so we can have longer rounds, make sure everyone has plenty of time to get models ready, etc.

One thing that's been tossed around is a 1850 or 2k event, no Allies allowed. Mix things up.

I like option 2. RTT this month and the fluffy event in August.

On a side note the fluffy event is going to be a higher point level so everyone can show off their cool armies! Granted it is supposed to be a less competitive event but you can still practice your larger lists.

Pretty bummed about this, I have had that Saturday blocked off my schedule for months. Was looking forward to being able to show off and play with models that have been collecting dust.

I personally can't make it second Saturday of August or July 20.

Push the MTG people to Sunday and let us keep our regular day!

I'm with MikeFox and OWCnC. Option number Two means I can make it.

Well poop. All painted up and no where to go...

I might be able to come out the 20th for a RTT. I'm getting the itch to play again, I just can't remember how...

That's alright, Dustin. Bring your HellTurkeys and you're basically running a "push-button" army.

From the FB event page.

Come down for the July installment of our wildly popular 40k tournament series!

We're doing this one on the third Saturday this month, thanks to side-by-side Warmachine and Magic special events crushing the store on the usual weekend.

This event is another one of our successful 'Showdown' format: 1500 points, 3 rounds of play, battle points and sportsmanship contributing to the overall winner, with additional prizes for best Sportsman, Best Army, and Best General, as well as random door prizes and various 'story awards' for epic deeds and harrowing circumstance throughout the day!

So get those armies together and get down here for a day of battle!

And don't forget that next month we'll be doing our Fluff Bunny tournament, where painting counts for almost half of your score! Full details and event info for that will be up soon!

Also important to note, also from the FB event page:

I'll make this announcement now, and it will be repeated many many times so it has time to sink in: starting in September, only fully painted armies will be eligible to win the overall prize in our regular events. Three colors minimum (primer counts), with a finished base.

Hey everyone! Just a reminder that our July event is coming up this weekend. Remember, this one is a regular tournament; the Fluffy Bunny special event will be in August, back on our regular Second Saturday schedule.

We learned a lot from running Store Wars over the weekend, so keep an eye out for more details on the Warmaster Cup, coming up in October. If all goes well, we'll be running that as a GT-style event with a bigger prize pool.

See you Saturday!

You should make a prize pool so large we can swim in it like Uncle Scrooge McDuck! Nothing like swimming in a sea of shiny sharp-edged GW product!!!

I bet Tom Kirby does something similar with a liquid form of the gaming community's discontent with GW policies...

In all seriousness, looking forward to upcoming events.

There was about 16 players. I don't know his last name, but Adam won with a crazy Daemon/CSM build. I played him and was bewildered the whole time. He had like 20 psychic powers going a turn and he was able to keep up with them. My brain checked out due to overload. Ken won the best dude award, and I won best painted (thanks to Mike Fox for not showing up). Great tourny!
