For me, it will be both of those things. I spent too much on toys AND she's grading papers.

Stumbled across these pictures today and don't remember ever seeing them before. Anyone encountered them before or have any idea who they might be or what purpose they serve?

Never seen those either.

Where'd you stumble across them?

Lot of very delicate parts on those, especially the naked scholar with all the laces and chains on the book, but also the backing of the chair. I've been super impressed always with the amount of finery in the 32mm figs Kingdom Death produces, but if these are also 32mm, it would blow my mind.

The top one looks like a concept/design for a different 'Pinup' version of the preacher (Adam lost the master for the original pinup preacher, and eventually had it resculpted, this could have been a different potentical direction to take it)

or maybe a pinup of the archivist class associated with the twilight knight order (again it would fit with the books)

no idea on the bottom one though

Well, I call that "big" as this game really is JUST a board-game. I separate my mental scale when talking about table-top-miniatures. I've thrown $500 at a system in one go, with the understanding that it is just a start-up cost... where as something like KD:M, better feel COMPLETE with $400 worth of expansions, etc... It is just a board-game, albeit one with promise.

Its value to me is in its potential as a self-run emergent-narrative RPG-esque campaign. I can't find any friends interested in dm'ing any major RPG, but i've got a queue of people who want to run a KD:M campaign.

As someone who put in far more than I planned to when I saw it ( ), I can say this is the major reason why. I love RPGs, but being the DM is a lot of work, and talking any of the friends I do have locally who play games (a very small subset of friends) to sit down and plan one out and agree on a system would be...troublesome.

Taking a bunch of parts to say "here, put together a guy/girl you think looks cool" and then being able to run through it together might even snare some of my non-gaming friends into giving it a try. Guess we'll know for sure this time next year!

Also, I too would like to know if those two pictures are concept art from before the KS or if that's maybe new things that are being worked on. They both look pretty ace in the KD aesthetic.

Agreed. I love DM-ing, but I don't think my players really get how much prep work goes into it, and there are times when I just want to play something loosely narrative instead of needing to plan and improvise 3+ hours worth of story.

I definitely believe they're concept work but probably for things we haven't seen. The first thing that came to mind was one of the Lion Knight's girls. Especially when I saw the picture linked below. It could the a render of the preacher pin-up, though. In any case, we definitely need the opportunity to toss money at Adam again.

Did you, as a wargamer, really just imply that the dice are NOT that important?! THEY'LL HEAR YOU, YOU FOOL! Looks like someone is rolling 12s for his morale checks for a while and nothing but 1s for his saving throws (the dice equivalent of sleeping on the couch).

The dice look very nice and are clearly one of the keystone portions of the gaming experience. Nobody would ever imply otherwise, especially of the dice being rolled for To-Hit....

I like nice dice, but I've been able to resist the Wargamer Dice pr0n thing... so far!

The stylized hit-location dice are nice.

But what is that oval icon? A ring? A tiara?

I believe that is the waist item location marker. It does look really ring-like, though

It took me a long time to "see" the torso. It looked like a smashed companion cube to me. Though I did just finish Portal 2 the other day, so maybe that's why.

I also think it's a torso. No head, hands, or hips. Just the torso with some sort of harness & ring strapped on.

Sculpted Slender Man
When the Slender Man concept art was revealed, Jacques-Alexandre Gillois instantly sent me a message the simply said. Let me sculpt this one! We finished up the sculpting on schedule and here are the photos of Jacques inspired sculpt.

I like where this is going and I'm glad we went all in on this one!

I worry as to how stable that Slender Man is.

Since, well... Slender Man is slender.

Yeah, them legs are spindly, but at least two of those thorn things are also touching the base, that's a wee bit of extra support at least.

And now I regret not getting more Lantern Armor...

I'm loving the new design for the Lantern Armor. Very Monster Hunter. Slenderman looks very good, too. Almost makes me wish I'd pledged for him, but then I remember how much stuff I'll be getting and having to paint.

That artwork in the latest update though, every time I see new artwork for this, it makes me hope more and more that we get a proper artbook and it also makes me wish we could get a proper comic. The art reminds me so damn much of Berserk.

+1 to the hardcover artbook.

I'd pay $50 for it no questions asked.
