Well I'm feeling much better now. At least I don't need a Ladder to see over my cluster , although mine is scattered all over the basement, the spare room and the garage.


Over in news and rumors they have confirmation of GW pulling the specialist games ranges, including mordheim, pic and bloodbowl. I think personally they will sell/trade them off to FW, but doom and gloom prevail. Glad I don't go there ll the time anymore.

Better order the gangs/warbands you want now then, why do they always take fan favorites and make them OOP?

Just got a response in the other board, GW is also dropping specialist games. Now I'm actually hoping GW is going not down, and they are going to sell these franchises off. I mean they have been selling their video game ips left and right recently, so either they are truly focusing on their big titles, or they are shoring up their revenues because the hobbit ip is costing more than they are bringing in.

The Hobbit IP isn't costing them a dime! They pass that licensing fee onto us! That is why the three Trolls cost $80- Three sprues..it should cost the same as a tank with 3 sprues- $40. if it loses revenue, they priced it away from customers themselves.

I think that's the problem Dave. The priced the hobbit so high that its not selling close to what they expected to get the returns to cover their costs. I love Tolkien as much as the next baggins, but ever since GW acquired the licensing for lord of the rings and the hobbit we've seen crazy price hikes across ll game lines to cover them. Now don't get m wrong, I'm not blaming the franchise for killing GW. GW killed GW by continuing to pull bonehead decisions out of the sump. They neglect their core gamers by not updating their armies for years or decades, then give them a great playable army with beautiful models, then shoot them in the back of the heads with a rules rewrite that nerds them hardcore. I'm looking at the dark eldar just in case anyone missed it. Follow this up with a new killer army that will get decimated once the marines return.

I used to love the games, but the best games GW have done are unsupported now, and will be boxed shortly. Necromunda and Bloodbowl live because h fans love it, he rules are simple and don't need constant faqs. Necromunda lives because of forums like dakkadakka and yakromunda, and because of other companies releasing gangs to support them like heresy.

I'll buy GW stuff, but just like the last few years it will be few and far between. I'm not rage quitting, I'm just spending my money where it's appreciated like Dreamforge, Poweredplay, and local hobby stores.

My above rant is over, I I'm off base let me know, just upset and frustrated right now. Didn't sleep well last night.

Not off at all, I think everyone is feeling the same, except people buying hordes of new Marines, Tau, Necrons, and Eldar with the intent of staying competitive in-game. I like footsloggers, so Guard is my thing, if not for gaming, then for the pure aesthetics and cool factor. I don't even WANT to play guard anymore, I just like the models, perhaps a new codex will help, but I doubt it, they would have to bring them back up to 3rd edition strength and that doesn't jive with their "buy more models and sweep them off the table in piles" strategy. I'm afraid with a new codex, they'll release an Imperial Guard Craps stick festooned with skulls of course.

Back from dropping kids off and a belated stop at a hobby store or two.

Supply drop, not big but necessary.

Couple packs of square stock, and a pack of tube, didn't really need the tube yet, but it was there.

Yes those are sticky jewel letters that kids put on their stuff, Don't judge me.... They just happen to be about .5mmlarger than the rivets I use. This pack was about $3, so with them being self adhesive, precut, and a consistent size I thought I might try them out.

Got to do some packing today. Clean the house and other stuff, but wanted to give a morning update.

Update....
So the rivet idea half works in my opinion. The jewels are uniform and easy to take off the sheet, but the letters are on one piece glue backing, so separating them removes the glue. I overcame this using my needle noose pliers to grab the piece, dip it in glue and apply. I needed to use a knife tip to make sure it goes where I want it, but still easy peasey.

Started on a little extra terrain piece with the drink animals I picked up yesterday. This old boat prow will be in the sump stream, so doesn't have to have great details, but wanted to use the mermaid piece. I am not a shipwright, so no complaints about the time period or bard layout.

at theophony...man... you just did something for me you never could have knewn i wanted to see for quite some time... seeing someone to actually grab those "rivets" letters... i have walked past these lil gems for quite some time now... always telling me off for wanting to try them... now i know... and will put that knowledge to good use!!!

Haven't accomplished anything today. Cleaned after I started on the sunken boat. I've got to run errands now, but will be stopping by a local used toy shop. Great place, they have old gijoes, transformers, m.a.s.k., he man, Lego an all those girl toys too. Plus they have a video game arcade of about 30 old stand up systems in the back that you can pay $10.00 to play all day. Haven't tried that yet, but it's on the agenda fo someday.

For a gang name is was thinking "Hilde's Hammers", but its just not ringing that well with me. Although that gang name and them controlling a coffin manufacturing company would be fun.

Stealing from Dave I could do some gang tags which would be fun .

Boss madchen does have a nice ring to it. And I could use my riveting skills to put the umlautes on whenever they tag a wall. The only downside is the gangs initials would be B.M., and that makes me giggle.

Well, ladders are useful for all sorts of things, they even put a sticker on the top (and subsequently most useful step) which reads "This is not a step" even though it looks and acts like all the other steps

Well I guess the ladder could be useful when your ganger is on the fourteenth floor shooting down and you need to check if its partial cover or not.

Also why do ladders have weight ratings on them? I never pay attention to them, and never feel through one.

Second supply drop of the day . This one comes from the wife, who does not approve of my gaming stuff. One of her students asked her if she wanted these.

Yes please. I don't drink coffee, so I never have these empty cans, and I think they make great industrial liquid and gas storage tanks. Will work on these this week. Everything's so hectic this week, the kids even have a half day tomorrow, and two daytime events that I'm chaperoning.

it is rather sad that your wife doesn´t approve of the hobby... this always puts a cramp into the possibel refuling side of your life... if stress at work, or with the kids make you down...some modeling is quite a good way to get over the hurt...my wife redently tried to support me in small ways... tho...i still have to keep my taking over the living room in place... otherwise even this small tolerance could be exhausted

I had saved a bunch of those, only used the lids from Maxwell House for one Munda tower, ended up finally throwing them into the recycling bin because they were taking up too much space. I'll be interested to see what you do with them.

I have o many ideas gift now and other people like skalk keep coming up with ideas that I want to steal. this week is driving me nuts. Just got back from furniture shopping. The wife wants to drop 2k on sofas, I'd like to wait on my job or her promotion first. Our stuff is junk from 8+ years ago that was rough when we got it, but 3 kids later needs to be replaced. Sorry for the vent, I'm loosing it this afternoon.

Well, I speak from experience here, if you have a crappy couch, and you need a break from the modeling chair to relax the ol' hamstrings and neck/shoulder muscles, it leads to a downward spiral with no relief.. especially those of us in our mid-late thirties who are just realizing we aren't 18 anymore...

@ Theophony- I was a stay-home dad for a year and a half. I only managed 2 kids. I can only guess what you are going though. Sleep when you can, drink lots of water, and dream of a day when the last of your spawn go to college in another state.

Tough job ahead on those coffee cans. My advice is buy that special spray paint that says it bonds w/ plastic. Dave and I went round and round on this topic before and I still disagree with him- that type of plastic sucks to work with.
