Small companies and their inability to have working websites. #mylife

New masters arrived to day and are all spot on! Terrible phone piccie, but here they all are. There's a sneaky peak at an upcoming couple of head spurs too to help convert the existing DX troopers - some gas masks for classic SAS and a helmet with stowed goggles for a modern modern trooper.

I needs that gas mask!

I'll be getting that Brigadier and others. There's never been a really decent figure of the Brig.

I didn't think that their "General Gordon" was bad for a "Mawdryn Undead" to "Battlefield" era brig, but the new one is much better, more a younger, "Daemons" era character.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." From Facebook:

Thought you might like a look at this. It's early days, but now you can have a play with making a cast for 7TV* with this quick and dirty guide to the (current) models in the new rules, along with (current) ratings.

Anyway, check it here: http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/misc/7TV2SimpleCastLists.pdf

Rules of the second edition were free right?

Or am I remembering things wrong again? I'm not looking forward to start collecting books again.

It sounds like the core rules and cards will be free. I'm not sure about the episode guides though.

According to Graeme at Crooked HQ, 2E retains the Star/CoStar/Extras from the first edition, but the actual system behind it all is different. The free pdf core rules will cover all of the profiles from the 1st edition as well as adding in a lot of new options. There are no plans to drop any of the casts from the Episode Guides either, though how those will be dealt with is still under discussion.

Down from 100-300 ratings an episode to 25-50? Interesting. However now that stars have a base rating of around eight, what does that mean for their gear? At the moment its a few ratings just for a gun, so how does the reduced ratings effect them I wonder? Certainly the extra kit won't be costing too much given the lower total ratings I'd imagine.

Some new heads are coming out to. Time to go embassy raiding...

Hmn, quite a few changes then. I'd really like to know if there's an alternative to these like the existing cast sheets. Cards are fine, but they take more effort to write up than just a table. Well i think, looking at it maybe they could come out with a Word document or something, but that still seems a bit more awkward than loading up Microsoft Project.

7TV 2nd Edition playtest components!
Karl has worked the playtest rules up into a nifty 40 page rulebook 'lite', with about 1,000,000 cards which Graeme has scalpel'ed out and sleeved with only a medium Sanity loss. Pictured:
• Rules (centre)
• Countdown (x30) & Finale (x10) cards (left). These mark the turns remaining and provide the random events during play. 1/2 sized cards.
• Gadget cards (x20) (bottom left). Your favourite gadgets revised. Most casts should get a few gadgets each episode.
• Heroic Profile, Unit and Vehicle cards (top left). There are about 80 of these all in, with all the stats you need right there on the card.
• Villainous Profile, Unit and Vehicle cards (right). Same again more or less, for the bad guys this time.
• Mini reference cards (x6) (bottom right). Info on the turn sequence, statuses, weapon effects etc.
The final versions will be much the same as the current cards, and won't need sleeved. We're going to give it a go in the pub tonight, I'll get some photos and post them up later.

4444 posts? Sweet.

#constructivecommentary.

They will be coming out with all sorts of templates. These stats cards are like a quick-start option so you have premade cast members. The full rules will still have the creation rules and the ability to use the old spreadsheet style.

They have mentioned that there will be template cards as well as template cast sheets.

Uhm, WOW?

BATTLE OF THE PLANETS LICENSE!
Dedicated! Inseparable! Invincible! We are totally pleased to announce out next license. Expect rules for flaming spaceships, worried robot voice-overs and miniatures for chirping youngsters and lots and lots and lots of campy space villains. If you know about BotP you might guess it's a bit of a complicated license so bear with us.

Nostalgia I suppose? I did see that quite a lot of the regular 7TV posters have at least a decade on me.

Thus why I wind up using their ruleset for modern and post-apocalyptic games. The shows they cater for I only watched on my days off at primary school. When they eighties stuff comes out then perhaps I'll be a bit more in touch with their theme, till then I'll stick with zombies and nukes.

Hmn, though is this an opportunity for Daft Punk the tabletop game?

No, no it isn't.

Oh how I would love to grab some Science Ninja Team Gatchaman miniatures (sorry, Battle of the Planets). But until this news carries over to tomorrow I am going to sit in a corner and cry assuming that it is an April Fools joke.

This month's newsletter is out.

Highlights being the release of the Doctor Who and Ghostbuster minis shown previously in this thread. Upcoming models include *not Cylons (pictured below, but there's more images in the .pdf) and new models for Heroic stars (which surely are based on one film character or another).

This month's discount is 25% off Vlad's Army and its cards and tokens.

I wonder if the not-Cylons will have the skirt parts of their uniforms. The'yre a great idea though. Dunno who those heroic archetypes are though.

Yep. Definitely rushing straight over to crooked dice first thing to sign up for a game at Salute, hopefully on that table!

Their costumes are usually a blast as well so well worth a look even of you don't fancy a game.

Not Crooked Dice this time, but in the theme of those Argonauts another company is releasing similar models.

I'd be into the second one for some post-apocalyptic guys actually.

But in Crooked Dice news, they'll be making an appearance at the show I'm going to tomorrow and bringing along a demo of the second edition. I'll see what I can drum up there, but may find myself just toting about the stalls buying stuff as I usually do (...for five hours). If anyone is going to the Carronade Gaming Show in Falkirk my friend when he asked was assured that the 25% discount Crooked Dice were offering at Salute will also apply here (...he said he's going to bring along a copy of the email just to bug whoever's there about it if they don't).

Dammit BrookM! Just because I'm too lazy to regurgitate the news letter. Git!

Aye well there wasn't many images in this months news letter due to all the shows Crooked Dice are going to.

The new Argonaut's that were shown earlier, including weapons sprues for upgrading the existing Mk1 models are now available. I saw those golden Mk2 Argonauts at the show I was at, hmn, could do with an ink wash.

The Heroic Archetypes that BrookM posted are due out in June. Another Paranormal Investigator (this time a female one with a different weapon) and an Argonaut Commander (whatever that'll do look like, IIRC Argonauts can't have the leader ability at the moment) are in the works for a release in July.

Crooked Dice now have a Summer Sale on too, with up to 75% off some items. Ok, big wow however, its mostly on rule books, which are on their way out of the door anyway. =P

I popped onto Crooked Dice's stall at one of the shows they were attending a week ago. Unfortunately I wound up being held up driving there, so didn't have that much time to peruse the traders. So whilst I did pick up some of the new stuff I didn't have time to see the new rules being played. Bugger. :(

Of course he is, Doc Brown went back to get him.

Unfortunately, the tomorrow person seems to have jaunted them all to the moon, so unless there are some Judoon there, that is only a temporary condition.

From Otherworld Miniature's on Facebook:

It's been a long time in development, but I'm delighted to announce that our Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish rules are now available for pre-order in our webstore. We expect the official release date to be in mid-August, but pre-order customers will get theirs a week or 2 in advance, and at a generous discount on the post-release pricing.

Pre-order packages are available for single rules books, rules and accessory bundles, and 2-player packs. Individual accessories, and ready-made warband packs, will be available after general release.

http://otherworldminiatures.co.uk/shop/product-category/otherworld-skirmish-rules-and-accessories/

This has been a project that Crooked Dice have been working on for a while alongside Otherworld Miniatures. ...One of their many projects which they've been working on for a while. Its pretty much the 7Tv ruleset, but in the D&D setting. What I do wonder is if this is using the new ruleset or not. The character sheets in the background of that image say its the old one to me.

Still... If I had the time to put together a Fantasy dungeon for this and collect all the miniatures I would, but I'm already too invested with my other stuff unfortunately. :(
