Yes. Only a coward brings a gun to a knife fight. As a true manly man, you should have taken the guy out of action with nothing but your bare fists and the awesome power of your moustache.

I dont have a moustache but I have a beard, will that do?

Depends. Is it a neckbeard or a manly one?

I kid, I kid!

A neck is no place for hair!

I was clean shaven, no moustache, and sweating my butt off. The "Bad Guy" waving a knife and running at us did not expect a bottom portion of a SINGAR Antenna knocking him unconscious. No one and I mean no one going to cut me with a POS rusty arse blade. Besides the ANA clocked him out before we could pull the triggers.

Still though. I am seriously considering open carry. Granted I will not go into a "no gun zone" even if there was a active shooter in there being I am a law abiding citizen.

ugh we agree on something it is the end of the world.

As it goes I don't care if it was Santa Clause, if you are in my children's room and I don't know you and you have no reason to be there, all my questions will be asked with a 9mm bullet.

A friend of mine in high school was 1/4 Swiss. His dad lived in Switzerland when he was a baby and caught an intruder breaking into their house. His dad didn't hesitate, grabbed his shotgun, and took the guy out at the knees (essentially almost blowing half a leg off). The Swiss arrested the intruder and the mayor gave his dad an award for excellent marksmanship at night with a shotgun.

Maybe we could learn something from the Swiss?

Why would you pick open carry over concealed carry? Im curious, it seems far batter that way.

me myself i'm all for open carry as opposed to conceal carry since open carry is more of deterrent then concealed carry.

Hell no. Blow a guy's leg off here in the states and you'll be wrapped up in civil suits for ever, IF you can afford to fight them without going bankrupt.

You can make cases for both. Open carry has a lot of downsides. A whole lot.

well yeah with open carry you would get a lot of stares, but once upon a time open carrying pistols was normal and even recommended, and no matter what they say about the wild west it was never like this, you stole someones horse, you were hung, no jury needed, if you molested a woman, same thing, laws were much cleaner back then and more straight forward, you go to prison, you serve your time that was it, no such thing as having a felony on your record or parole or probation or such.

And most of that was a direct violation of your Bill of Rights. Do you really want to look back on that with those rose tinted glasses?

Every day I think I have seen it all in the OT, then I come across someone fondly remembering the wholesome justice system of the wild west.

true but justice was swift and not the slow crawl it is now, where rapists get off with a basic slap on the wrist and child molesters are released back to the public.

Yeah, no gak. Open carry is legal in Iowa, and I would never do it - I always carry concealed. IMO if you open carry, you're wearing a sign on your back that says "shoot me first".

It's almost like Dakka's version of Godwin's Law: The more posts any thread accumulates, the closer it is to being a thread about "The Stupid gak Asterios Says".

This reads a lot like those internet stories where a person is being rude on public transport before the narrator intervened with just the perfect put down and then then everyone gave a standing ovation.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Let's look back with misty eyes at jury-less hangings and other terrible approaches to justice less, and talk about the topic some more.

I don't think there could be anything left to the topic - if she wasn't charged yet, I sort of doubt she will be. The chances of her being charged at all barring some huge unexpected reveal were, I think, very very small.

Gun nuts love telling tall tales about how Switzerland is an armed utopia. Your friend from high school's dad (when he was a baby)... So what, this happened during WW2?

Did he mention the part where you have to get a license to keep firearms if you aren't in the military?
