I'm liking the Corsairs. Too bad there's no back shot to see the cloaks

What I want to know is, are the Corsairs the "standard"
troop unit for Dark Elves with a plastic kit? The suggestion
that you can arm them either with two hand weapons or
handweapon and hand-bow seems to mean plastics for me,
which would be totally awesome.

Really liking the corsair's. I like the Lord too. Maybe DE will be my first WHFB army. I have some witches I was gonna turn into 40k wyches but maybe I'll use em as intended.

Also, plastic lizard hides will be nice for my Salamanders chapter.

The suggestion
that you can arm them either with two hand weapons or
handweapon and hand-bow seems to mean plastics for me,

The text on the page there mentions plastic corsairs. Which is pretty cool from a modelling standpoint (have 0 clue as far as tabletop performance).

Depends on the rules. Hand crossbows might function like
an additional attack in the first round of hand-to-hand
combat, or it might be like Lothern Sea Guard where the
models can shoot arrows and wield spears.

I've always loved the Corsairs, tactically. The figs have long left a bit to be desired, though. I'm tentatively happy about these ones, although the added spiky-helmetness is a step backwards IMO.

Hope the Sea Dragon cloaks still function the same way. DE troops that don't wither (as quickly) under small-arms fire would be really nice. Having them return to the mixed CC-shooter role would be nice too, but I'm doubtful about the range on hand-xbows, even if they do offer the equivalent of 40K rapid fire. Close-range firefights are not an are in which elves of any flavor are likely to prosper.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I have been holding off on a new Fantasy army until they came out, so maybe DE for me

If you look at the pic with all the Corsairs, you'll see the tag plastic under them

The Corsairs are plastic, and they make me cry, they are so beautiful. And the handbow seems to indicate one more unit in the druchii host that has a ranged attack, the better to negate ASF... .

The Dreadlord is metal, and makes me cry, it is so fugly. "Let's make a poorly proportioned elf in clunky armor with really stupid hair. Then stick him in a lifeless, static pose. Then stick an ickle dwagon on his shoulder to indicate he's an elf, not an anorexic chaos champion." Thank you, GW, for covering up so much of that figure with cloak and shield.

For me, Dreadlord = plastic Corsair + plastic Cold One Knight + conversion frenzy.

I'm hoping for more pics soon, of the new CoK and hydra. The hydra is by Trish Morrison, so I am really on tenterhooks- I am not her biggest fan.

Yet again the DE minis wipe the floor with the HE minis.

The dreadlord is really, really nice.
Why does the corsair with handbow have grey skin?
Is the corsair unit standard c'thulu inspired or is it just a kraken?

So far 2 thumbs up....

Those look like pics from the new [edit] white dwarf (based on the visible text), so the grey-skinned Corsair is an alternative paint scheme. Bad case of frostbite?

I find it amusing to notice that the rumored "Squid-faced helmet of Lokhir Fellheart" picture snippet actually turned out to be the top of the Corsair standard pole.

I am less amused that GW has stolen my Dark Elf scaly-green + purple color scheme. Especially after they stole my purple-on-white Tyranid color scheme. Come up with your own ideas, dammit!

Reading the snippet of visible text, it seems that Corsairs are definitely plastic, should be core, and can be equipped with hand weapon & shield, two hand weapons, or repeater crossbow pistols (& shield? Woot!). I doubt they are going to replace the bog-standard warriors, either spear- or repeater crossbow-armed. I forsee lots of new Corsair boxes being used to add nifty bits to the older warrior models, to help tie the units together.

I have this vision of a unit of Corsairs stopping in front of a unit of HE spears. And multi-shooting. And multi-shooting some more, while the HE player grits his teeth and waits for the charge so he can use his three ranks ASF. Sorry, did I say three ranks? I meant two. (Thwack thwack thwack thwack thwack thwack. Thwack. Oh, did you fail another armor save?) If the HE player charges, he has to take a stand-and-shoot reaction, gives up a fighting rank, and ASF becomes moot- then he's facing return attacks from an enemy unit with two hand weapons and hatred. Or else the Corsairs just flee, because if they were smart they were about 7" away (I'm betting repeater pistol crossbows will have an 8" range). And it just gets better if DE get poisoned attacks.
That'll probably work only once, but it'll be worth it.

Wow I am really impressed with the Corsairs, now if the rest of the range matches up with them, maybe I'll have a fantasy army soon?

Hmmm, from the comments here it seems as though I may lose my Dark Elvish hate. I have always hated the Dark Eldar, and so with these models, hopefully it announces some good looking models for them, too.

What? You didn't like the executioners? Or the always-amazing Dark Riders?

That squid-head is going on something I'm converting, unless that special character mentioned eariler in the thread already has a squid-helmet.

And if the hydra bites (badump-bump!), Reaper has a very attractive new hydra model.

These are great. I wouldn't say they actually look much better than the old Corsairs (I liked those too), but hey, they're plastic. I only hope the Dark Eldar look this good.

Dreadlord.

Topknot.

Dammit, GW!

P.S. Reaper has two nice hydra models, both of which beat up and steal the fugly GW hydra's lunchmoney.

[Edit]: Also, when did the Dreadlord steal The Riddler's cane?
