Can't act, can't sing, can't even dance a little...
Ireland... represented by a puppet turkey. GO IRELAND!!!
Bosnia Herzegovina... Still can't work out what is meant to be happening.
Estonia.... 2 middle aged, overweight guys who can't sing whilst wearing awful outfits repeating the same line in front of hot chicks. Pure gold...

It's all political! Thats the problem. And for the UK it showed just how pointless X-factor (Or whatever it was) is at creating good singers, seein as its winner came last! Makes me laugh a little bit

The Irish entry didnt make the final. It was a two finger salute to the Eurovision. I like it that it was chosen as the national entry, the BBc would not have had the stones.
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Eurovision used to mean something in the 70's, but since then it has frozen. Not good for pop music culture.
IIRC there were heated comments in the Knesset over one Israeli entry, which was assumed (not unreasonably) to be a cultural embarassment. I dont think the Israelis get it either.

The flags on the Estonian entry say a lot. I didnt bother two watch beyond the first few seconds.
For many of the smaller countries Eurovision is a way of saying 'hey look we exist'. I didn't think they would be so blatant about it.

Heh. The eurovision is done by televoting so it's not too political. We have a vote on our entry over here, and people found the idea of Dustin doing it hilarious. Still, it's a far cry from the glory days, when we won it more times than anyone else ever.
The problem with that is that if you win you have to host it, and RTE didn't have the money to keep doing it!
I reckon this should have been our entry:

And the BBC may not have stones, but at least they have the highest level of journalistic integrity of any news channel I can think of.
BBC foreign broadcasts are very good. The BBC is known for its coverage even of conflicts where the Uk has an interest. I wouldn't say there is no propoganda, but propoganda is rare enough and vieled enough that it gets through.
However domestic political coverage is blatantly slanted, social coverage is dumbed down and many phone in shows have been proven to have been rigged. The BBC has very little domestic credibility anymore.
But the Foreign Office ensures that the World Service and satellite channels are first rate, and even Blair didnt get to mess with that. The BBC gets the Uk governments point accross far better by offering a mutli viewpoint platform, even if it means giving air time to the occassional enemy than it does with a blatant 'running dog' media.

we should put edd the duck in next year, or the 'star wars guy' form britais got talent! at least he can play an instrument. Might need to make up some words, but I reckon he's up for the challenge. He has practised his entry for 5 hours a day for the past two weeks!!!!
Well Eurovision had it right a couple of years ago when Lordi won the contest. Too bad Finland hasn't put up much in the way of good bands into the contest lately, they got lots of tallent to draw on.

True enough. They are a class act all their own. Of course I'm not sure how they would plan to top "Hard Rock Hallelujah!". I mean with lyrics like "It's The Arockalypse" and "On the day of Rockoning" its hard to beat. Plus they are about the only band I've seen that gives GWAR a run for their money when it comes to stage costumes.
(pic of Lordi winning the Eurovision Song Contest a few years back)
Now I just want to see Nightwish get a shot at the contest.

S'truth. Lordi is excellent, and "HRH!" is the best IMO, even if some like "Blood Red Sandman" and other earlier songs ... I was thrilled to see Lordi in concert last Fall (and GWAR 3 times over the years - hell, they're playing tonight over here! Make it 4???), and while they creep towards GWAR-esque antics they're safely ahead in the constumes and music department at the moment :S
