I really like the Chaos one. The ork one means 10 orks for ten pounds... I bet the "new maccraggy" will land you better value

HEY! THERE'S ONLY 95 ORKS IN THAT BOX! (go ahead, I counted...)

OK?

Anyway, at least GW is coming up with more deal box sets. Kind of like the old (old!) days...

Perhaps we'll actually see a subscription deal that appeals to most costumers.

Admit it, having a limited ed. figure is cool, but I'd rather have a battleforce (I did a three-year subscription in 2001 or so, can't remember the bonus).

Depends on how much value you put in being able to make a larger variety of poses. I can understand why people are all psyked about the deal in the starter box, but if/when I do my Ork army, I'm gona get the normal boxes.

It's not only about the poses.

It's a lot more to deal, as you don't have to cut and glue and match parts. Little by little it saves time.

I like the idea of being able to get a good amount of termies for under a hundred dollars.

How much does a box of Ork Boyz cost in GBP?

I'd go to the UK GW site, but GW's new site is still waaay to slow on my PC.

Well, in Canada its 25 dollars for ten, so that ends up being around 12.50 pounds wise. (with the current conversion rate of 1 CD to 1.99987 GBP)

I think there are other new sets out too that they just didn't include in the WD Online e mail. Cause when I looked on the sites Apocalypse page it had sets I hadn't seen before.

"I'm excited about the Carnifex deal. Maybe I'll finally get around to that modular Carnifex..."

There is also a Tyranid one for 100 punds in which you get 32 guants 16 stealers, 9 warriors and 3 Carnis.

Cause they are only advance orders right now.

I was just checking the deals on the american site.

The Eldar one, especially. For 220 dollars.

Three Falcons (95 euro) two Serpents (30 each, so 60 euro) an Autarch (15 at the most) and two Dire Avenger Squads (20 each, so 40 euro) to a grand total of 210 euro.

Taking into account that 220 dollars are 139 euro, it's a very big saving indeed. To better run the numbers (because it's pretty expensive) I found out that the numbers on the spanish site were a bit hicked. Which is to say, I got my numbers wrong.

The Wave Serpents were 35, as are the Falcons.

But the best is...

The 10 Dire avengers aren't 20, or 22.5 as they were. They're now 30. A nearly 50% rise on a box that I thought had fair value.

I was checking the numbers on the GW american site. 90 dollars for a Cloudstrike squadron (3 falcons), equalling 58 euro. 30 dollars for the Dire Avengers equate to 19 euro. 25 euro for each Wave Serpent.

Is there any reason for this particular discrepancy? I'd order from the US to Europe, but frankly I'm afraid of customs and taxes.

The US dollar is extremely weak right now and games workshop has yet to reset their prices accordingly.

In Canada the dollar is only one cent difference yet we pay 40% more for our GW stuff. Its a total rip off.

Yeah, I mailed GW US about it, I have to do the exchange here. The sad part is, I don't know what taxes would/wouldn't apply. I think a trip to the post offices is in order. Or a mail...

Man its good for Canadians though. That Space Marine company box is 600 dollars here and I think its like 350 there.

Of course, if GW DID reset it's prices, ti would just make the US prices match the current Canadians ones and we'd BOTH pay $600 for the Marine Company Box Set.

Dude, your last line answered your question. Europe has ALWAYS been slowed about taxes and tariffs. Hell, theres a VERY good argument in polisci fields at the moment that European tariffs were the most direct cause of WWII. You import a good far sale, and very often you get raped by three tariffs. THREE!! The EU takes a cut, the host country takes a cut, and then the local minicipal government takes a cut (I'd give you an example, but I can't find last semester's World Political Economy notes :( ) But all those LOVELY tariffs so that you don't have to drop 10 cents, or whatever your local coin is called, into the meter to use the bus get passed on to YOU, the customer.

I can't speak for Australia, I have no idea what their tariffs are like. But I can remind you of 2 factors that people overlook when mouthbreathing about GW prices:

1) Tariffs are the spawn of the devil. If you want to complain about prices, the first person to yell at is your elected representative. This goes for any product, not just GW. Someone above made a point about gas prices... did you know more than 60% of the price you pay at the pump is a federal tax? Yep. More than $2 of the almost $4 a gallon your paying is going to things like the 12 BILLION dollar research project in Texas that is studying frog mating.

2) Each GW entity (GWUS, GWUK, GWOZ, GWSpain, etc) operates as their own entity, for legal and tax purposes. GWUS sets its own prices. GW OZ sets ITS own prices, and so on and so on and so on...

Edit about canada: Your tariffs are slowed big. How do you think you pay for national healthcare? Still a joke to me when anyone in Canada who can still goes to America for healthcare (a recent study I read said 73% of Canadian doctors got o the US for surgery). So theres the answer to the $600 marine company.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

National healthcare is paid by the national health care tax.... Its a pretty big one in itself but yah. I already know that Canada has really hihg taxes.

That's a bogus arguement. In particular since the UK is part of that tariff freee zone.

I've got a bridge to sell you if you believe that.

Americans actually pay a larger percentage of thier income for the same things the average Canadians take for granted (and I should note there are no Canadians who cannot get any medical treatment).. But tariffs are not the problem. GW hasn't adjusted prices at all since the Canadian dollar took flight two years ago. That's why prices are higher in canada. Not any of the other straw men you put forward. Whenthe Candian dollar was at 0.65 Us the price was reasonable. Now... the Canadian dollar is better then the US dollar but the prices aren't.

Sure thing. The gentgleman asked why prices are higher in his country though, and that's the largest reason for the increase in price. There are other factors, I'm sure, but tariffs and taxes are always the highest artificial inflator of consumer pricing.
