HQ Daemon Prince (110 Points) Mark of Nurgle (20 Points) Nurgle’s Rot (15 Points) Wind of Chaos (30 Points) 175 Points Elites 10 Possessed Space Marines (With Champion) Icon of Nurgle (50 Points) 320 Points Troops 10 Plague Marines (With Champion) Power Fist (25 Points) 2X Plasma Gun (30 Points) 300 Points 10 Chaos Space Marines (With Champion) Power Fist (25 Points) Lascannon (20 Points) Meltagun (10 Points) Mark of Chaos Glory (10 Points) 230 Points 10 Chaos Space Marines (With Champion) Power Fist (25 Points) Mark of Nurgle (50 Points) 1X Plasma Gun (15 Points) 1X Heavy Bolter (10 Points) 250 Points Fast Attack Heavy Support Obliterator Squad (3 Models) 225 Points This is my first attempt at an army list. Edit: The previous one was from an older Codex. I tried to update it with the sort of stuff I'd want. Would I be better off with flamers instead of Plasma Guns since they may be more melee oriented? Also am I wrong in passing up regular Chaos Space Marines for Plague Marines? Edit Edit: Trimmed it down and added more Marines.

I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

Yeah, I have no idea what codex that is, maybe the first 3rd edition one? For the hell of it, here's a direct translation of your list into the new codex, though I've added things to make it legal and also killy: HQ Demon Prince - MoN, wings, nurgle's rot = 165 TROOPS 10 Plague Marines - 2 plasma guns, PC w/ powerfist, icon = 305 10 CSM - IoCU, lascannon, meltagun, AC w/ powerfist = 230 10 CSM - IoCU, lascannon, meltagun, AC w/ power weapon = 220 10 Lesser Demons = 130 HEAVY SUPPORT 3 Oblits = 225 3 Oblits = 225 TOTAL 1500 points Not sure what "nurgle cavalry" is, but didn't have the points for nurgle bikers. Not so great anyway. - Salvage EDIT -- Nice avatar by the way

HQ
Demon Prince - MoN, wings, nurgle's rot = 165

10 CSM - IoCU, lascannon, meltagun, AC w/ powerfist = 230

10 Lesser Demons = 130

3 Oblits = 225

1500 points

Ha, no problem! I see you edited your top list though, not bad and I'd definitely give that a shot and see how you like it. A few things though:
- To take 2 powers on the DP you need to also buy a familiar, but really Nurgle's Rot isn't that great of a power. Just take wind of chaos OR warptime (for combat awesome) and save some points. Also, wings are the way to go, unless your model doesn't have them? I know I like wingless giant models myself, so maybe that's limiting you.
- You might as well split all the obliterators up, you've got the slots and they can come 1 per.
- Plague marines are very very good, and actually I think it's worth switching the MoN CSM squad over to plaguers too ...
HQ
Demon Prince - MoN, warptime = 155
ELITES
10 Possessed - IoN, AC = 320
TROOPS
7 Plague Marines - 2 plasma guns, PC w/ powerfist, icon = 236
7 Plague Marines - 2 plasma guns, PC w/ powerfist, icon = 236
10 CSM - IoCU, lascannon, meltagun, AC w/ power weapon = 220
8 Lesser Demons = 104
HEAVY SUPPORT
Obliterator = 75
Obliterator = 75
Obliterator = 75
TOTAL
1496 points
The huge possessed squad is cool by the way, could me a lot of fun, if not the best use of points. Awesome modeling possibilities too. Also, don't discount lesser demons, they can do very good things, particularly in 5th where they're all scoring.

You're the expert here but I'm wondering if it's possible to shave off 100 points and top this all off aesthetically with a Greater Daemon. The only thing I can really think of would be to condense the CSM squad into a smaller Havoc Squad with Missile Launchers and give the Champion Meltabombs? Otherwise I'd be taking out something that'd make it aesthetically pleasing. Or I may be barking up the wrong tree here... Will a Greater Daemon benefit my army?
And yeah, I'm going with the Nurgle Daemon Prince model. The fat, ugly, wingless one. I don't think people'd like it if I just say "it has wings lol"

Easy to make happen: - Drop 3 possessed, making a fluffy 7 man squad - Drop 1 demon, making a fluffy 7 man squad - Drop the CSM power weapon, get 10 points of whatever in its place (I like a combi-melta to match the squad myself, can mobilize and get 2 melta shots at a tasty target) HQ Demon Prince - MoN, warptime = 155 Great Generic One = 100 ELITES 7 Possessed - IoN, AC = 242 TROOPS 7 Plague Marines - 2 plasma guns, PC w/ powerfist, icon = 236 7 Plague Marines - 2 plasma guns, PC w/ powerfist, icon = 236 10 CSM - IoCU, lascannon, meltagun, AC w/ combi-melta = 215 7 Lesser Demons = 91 HEAVY SUPPORT Obliterator = 75 Obliterator = 75 Obliterator = 75 TOTAL 1500 points Bada-bing! And yes, the greater generic demon is a great bargain @ 100 points, monstrous stats. - Salvage

Beautiful!
That is officially my first list. Thanks for the help!
I can picture it now. It's aesthetically pleasing and it's got lots of lucky sevens...

Just a pointer; it's not a good idea to mix heavy and assault weapons in a squad. Save the Lascannons for Havocs or tanks imho.
|
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Oh boy.
Possessed are horrible.
So are regular CSM.
Drop both, get some TS or EC for fire support.

I'd like to keep the possessed. What's so bad about them? They seem like they'd be awesome. Two attacks, high durability, etc.
Also are there any alternatives to Noise Marines or Thousand Sons for that? As stupid as it sounds I kinda want to keep the theme.

High durability? They are T4 with a 3+ save...there are limits to how durable that is.
Possessed are CC only.
You have no anti-horde shooting.
You aren't good enough at CC to beat off hordes, and you won't survive a march across the table against an enemy you aren't hurting.

I thought the 5+ Invulnerable save was for anything. I'm confused now... I thought I'd have T5 with a 5+ save on everything due to IoN. The invulnerable save only kicks in when it would normally ignore armor? Edit: DERP. I was confused as to what armor save was.

yeah...
I agree i'd take the lascanon out of the CSM squad and buy the lord wings...
he's too big to hide behind/ in squads so has to lurk in cover near by your squads as they advance
the 12" Leap plus 6" assult gives him a assult range of 18"...
with Wings he can quickly help squads that get stuck in a combat.. Plague marines tend to get involved in long drawn out combats.
Panic...
