According to Maelstrom Games, this set will have

28xDark Elf Warriors

20xDark Elf Black Ark Corsairs

5xDark Elf Cold One Knights

Is that a good price?

Prices can be found HERE on Dakka. There are five Cold One Knights in a box, ten Corsairs in a box and sixteen Warriors per box.

22 dollars for 5 cold one knights
44 dollars for 20 corsairs
61 dollars for 28 warriors

= 127

If my math is correct, that is.

Poor choises imho.
Plastic dark/black whatever riders would be much more important.
Hopefully they will be in the second wave.
The Batallion will be as dull as the Dwarfone.

I'm going to disagree with you on this.
I actually think for once the box set for the dark elves will be a decent base for an army

5 cold ones is a good start on a cav unit

20 corsairs is full unit of them

and if the warriors can be made into either crossbow men or spearmen

well 20 spearmen and 8 crossbowmen, well I guess 18 spear men and 10 xbowmen but still very close to 3 full core selections and a relativly solid special

buy two of them and its 2 20 man units of corsairs, 25 spear elves, 3 units of ten xbowmen, and a 10 count block of cold ones, with 1 extra warrior left sounds like a pretty strong base to me

Totally agree. Good solid core choices. 2 boxes will definitely form a good beginning of any DE army - 10 knights might be too many but what the heck.

Also with the new army book expect many of the neglected units to get a boost. I have a gut feeling that Cold One Knights are going to get very nasty sometime real soon.

Compared to the current Cold One Knights they are 2pts cheaper, Str 4 base, and Hate everything (applies to the moun too!) Not too shabby, but not terribly uber. Stupidity will keep them from ever being totally reliable.

thats why you take the Banner of "not stuipid". Seems like it would be almost mandatory for a good unit of COKs

My kneejerk response to that banner was "Way to make up a no-brainer always-taken banner to negate a good unit's disadvantage, Gav" ... but looking at the book and all the other great banners available I think it won't be QUITE so automatic. Ignore stupidity? Or have asston of attaks (hydra banner or something)? Or do XYZ impressively crazy things? Tough choice.

Unlike, say, my ogres, which have the fewest decent banners of any army, I'd warrant. Skaven players whine about their 1-2 choices, but even then they have 1-2 choices plus warbanner! That's like 2-3!

I hate stupidity checks on my Lizard Cold Ones, but then it is also the only thing stopping them, too. And even if they get charged; they're lizards on Cold Ones!

Lizards are cold-blooded, DE can take a ld10 hero?
