i was wandering around on the GW UK web page when i cam accross a neat little weapon upgrade for bugs that i was woundering about.

http://uk.games-workshop.com/tyranids/strangler-skewer/

http://uk.games-workshop.com/tyranids/strangler-skewer/2/

i was woundering if those were rules that i could use at games above the friendly level.

i know it is kinda worthless to pay 10 points to upgrade a GAUNT to get one of those neat guns.... but hay, i think they are just that cool.

the weapon brood might not be a bad idea.... an infeltrating gaunt brood with S4 AP 4 weapons to go along with the brood lord and his stealers =P

any ways... i was just woundering if these were legal.

If you have any familiarity with the previous Tyranid codex you would realize that these articles were written for that list. Plus the fact that the articles were written by Andy Chambers (who left GW in 2003 and is currently the creative director of Blizzard Entertainment) would be a big clue as well that these articles should have been removed from GW's website a long time ago.

If you want to play these rules IN A FRIENDLY GAME, print them out, show them to your foe, and if he's okay with it, play with them. Your house, your friends, your rules. Show up at a tourney with it, it's a no go.

Ghaz, stop having a conniption. Your knowledge of the rules is well known, but there's no reason to bite the head off a person who asks a legitimate question.

Perhaps you should stop trying to be a moderator. I never once tried to 'bite his head off', thank you very much. Try keeping on topic and let the moderators take care on any misconceived rulesbreaking.

I agree with you Ghaz that 'tone' on the internet can easily be misconstrued based on the mindset of the person reading the words as opposed to what is actually written.

However, your response does essentially chastise him for not having familiarity with the previous codex or the status of the article's author with the company; two things any given player cannot be expected to know.

All you have to do is change a few words in your post and the 'tone' changes from chastising to helpful and friendly. Here's an example:

Ghaz wrote:That article was written for the previous version of the Tyranid codex by Andy Chambers (who left GW in 2003 and is currently the creative director of Blizzard Entertainment). They should have been removed from GW's website a long time ago as they contain many rules and references that are not compatible with the current codex.

ah, i was just getting my feet wet in the water of 40k when they redid the nid dex.

i belive i entered into the warcrack world in verry verry late 3rd ed... my first army (still kick some serious with them today) was tau (w00t)... when they made the transition over to 4th ed, i dident notice much because i was still trying to figure out how far certin things could move. and looking at my codex about every 5 seconds trying to find the stat line on a fire warrior.

if i recall correctly, the nids had a dex revamp in early 4th.

man, to me it feals like so long ago. but i guese to all you vets out thier i am just a little young whiper snaper

by tau standards i think i am in a crisis suit or stealth suit now, mabey even a team leader. ive done very well at a few large tournys, not scoring high ranking because of the fact i cant paint well, but my standard at a tourny is crush the first player, draw - small win with second player, and regular win vs 3rd player (course that was when trees blocked my crisis suits... time to make them all crouching

No. I have no idea how long he's been playing so I have no idea if he has any familiarity with the old codex or not. In order to do so I have to ask, which is exactly what I did.

Okay, that's little kind of 'out of this topic'.

BTW, those nid weapons seems too powerful, so the GW took them out from Codex i think.

That's funny, I didn't see any question marks in your posts...

Yeah - I kinda missed those numerous question marks too. The simple answer would have been:

'Nope, those were written for the previous codex and GW has not taken them down'.

Ghaz - maybe you should just be open to a little constructive criticism because reading through your reply definitely had a harsher 'tone' to it (and that was before I read the other replies). It was kinda like "Listen Noob - you should do your research about Andy Chambers articles before you post such a question and waste all of our time".

Where does it say that a question has to have a question mark? It doesn't, thank you very much. Now how about trying to follow the forum rules and keep on topic instead of trying to psychoanalyze somebody's post because neither of you are very good at it nor is it your place to do so. Seems a tad bit hypocritical on your parts to do so.

A bit defensive?

In a written forum a "?" is required since intonation and inflection doesn't carry well in written form.

Just let it go, please.

Let's not play ignorant here Yak. Ghaz's tone is well known, probably even more so than mine.

Did anyone even bother to ask Envy89 if my comments upset him? Seems to me it's his opinion that counts, not yours or anybody else's. If you want to jump on somebody about the contents of their post, try the next to last post in THIS THREAD instead.

Love it!

Consistency counts. 2074 posts and counting.

The question's been answered and nothing new to add.

OK, absent Yakface desiring to keep this open, I am closing this thread before it slips into warnings time - too much personal static and its way too close to tequila time for that.

Envy if you didn't get an answer please repost a new thread.
