SM got the "ATSKNF" rule back (the codex says see BRB. New book doesn't have the rule, so RAW lawyers were denying it to SM players out of spite)

The Land Raider for SM chapters got its assault vehicle rule back as well.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

For Witch Hunters:

Holy Rage got better. It is now 6”+D6” and an option to run.

Seraphim and St. Celestine can now hit and run without an Int. check.

Exorcists and Immolators are now considered to be firing from a turret.

The Liber Heresius no longer works.

Really good stuff overall. The fixes to Witchhunters Especially. The last thing the Repentia needed was a nerf.

They un-nerfed Repentia, Acroflaggelants and Penitent Engines, Huzzah! My 9 penitent Engine army yet lives.

Edit: Wow, just to add I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the Witch Hunters FAQ. Its pretty darn thorough and either logically extends old rules to the new functionality (Vinicaire's Turbo-Penetrator) or are kind enough to just clearly state that the rules are obsolete (Eversor fast shot, Liber Heresius). Most of all, unlike the first draft it really seems like the person who wrote this FAQ actually has an inkling of how to play the army. If this is the work of GWs new "FAQ Guy" he gets a thumbs up from me.

I agree, though competency doesn't seem to be highly regarded at GW HQ, so the new, good FAQ-GUY might soon be relocated to "Spare Slotta Tab Smelter" before he can effect too much positive change...

Here's hoping though!

It's okay. They contacted me to let me know they were taking our names off of the FAQs. Seems they felt bad about how many people thought we actually wrote the FAQs and were blaming us for the rulings they didn't like.

I certainly don't mind, and plus I got to help a little bit with the WH FAQ.

Damnit! You could have created new positions like "Dakka Tough Guy Bodyguard." You could have hired some of us to stand by you whenever you play at major public events and take care of the the riffraff that complains when it's "your fault" that X unit was wiped out on turn 1. Come on: every villain, and even most good guys, have bodyguards.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

They updated the WH FAQ on 7/28. It looks like it was only a minor change for some wargear.

Also they thanked some guy named Jon Regul for the FAQs. I think he is the person responsible for GW's Regul Blue color.

Currently, it's just Alessio and possibly the person who wrote the codex/army book and then only if Alessio feels he needs some help with the author's interpretation. However, I would hope that the developers allow for more clubs/groups to feed them with questions and clarifications, so that GW will see what the standard misunderstandings the average player is running into.

What I have found out though is that each regional area has it's own unique rules querries, so in many cases, there are "unanswered" questions..

Why? Whats so special about them that they get to ignore this basic rule book rule. Dethcopters, tau vectored jump jets, and a few others got screwed over by this in the black book rule, but the WH units get a free ride.

Yeah right.

Moving forward, it appears at though GW is going to stick with ruling that each individual codex's rules being they are what they are for the most part except where noted in a FAQ.

So while it does mean similar stuff in different codexes will work slightly differently from each other, it also means players won't have to try to worry about whether 'X' new codex that came out means that their wargear has changed.

You just have your codex and that's what your rules are.

Thereby defeating the purpose of even haing a 'Universal Special Rule' section. I can't wait to have 4 slightly different versions of True Grit again. Wasn't that fun!

That's not a fair assessment because newer codexes just reference the USR in the rulebook.

It looks like there are just going to be some advantages and disadvantages for having really old codexs. Too bad they only revise 2-3 a year.
