Inspired by the breakfast thread and the fact that I'm just home from the pub.
Tonight:
+3 Old Peculiar Ales
+1 London's Pride Ale
+1 Guinness stout

I love old peculiar, but the local off licence rarely has very much in stock. London's Pride was an experiment, and it's alright. Prefer abbot ale though. GMing D'n'D while tipsy is fun.

Is this thread about drinking in general or specialty drinks? I love a bloody Mery every now and again but I can't get them as often as I like (Why is the drinking age 21 in this country? Probably those old crotchity prohibition skanks) and when I end up getting a chance to drink my friends always end up convincing me to get plastered. Apparently I'm funny or something while drunk. I don't think I am, but that's because I honestly don't recollect the night.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

Man, try hard to stick to the beer anymore. Jack and coke used to be the bevvie of choice, but once I put on a wedding ring that kind of voluntary lobotomy just wasn't an option anymore.

Man, sudden craving for a Harvey Wallbanger. God, that's been years.

I just had a pint of Sapporo tonight, but like Newcastle, Samuel Smith's Tadcaster as well. Bushmills and a cigar are pretty good as well, but only about once every 3 months. If I want to get drunk though, I usually just make a rum and coke with some Tattoo and diet/caffeine free cola. Mead's also good, but bad for my head.

My sister/roommate brews her own beer/mead/wines so parties at our house have a pretty good selection of poison.

Heh. 6 Guinness would be pretty normal for me on a random evening in the pub.
The worst I've ever done was have 12 over the course of a day. Man was I hungover the next day.

$3 Long islands? Woah! That's cheap!
It's like 4.70 euro for a pint where I was drinking.

Sam Adams, any type.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

Mojitos are awesome. I am now looking forward to summer because mojitos are so much better in hot weather. The rest of that stuff is pretty nasty, but to each their own.

On the weekend I drank white russians on Friday, Nasto Azzuro on Saturday, and a couple of pink russians on Sunday.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Try London Pride on tap. Much better than it's bottled equivalent and a fantastic ale.
Peculiar is lovely too. Anything by Badger brewery is great bottled....
Arh Ale, along with single malt whiskey and pie's gotta be a favorite of mine to muse over.

I wish we could get London's Pride on tap over here, but it's very hard to find any ale except smithwicks. Sometimes you can get local brews too, but only in certain pubs, and they tend to be jammers.

I got into mead a while back. While I was living in Colorado, I was close to a local meadery, which I purchased from several times.

I generally prefer beverages made from some sort of grain. Coming from Tennessee this is blasphemy, but I'm not a huge fan of Jack, but I'll definitely drink it if someone is buying. I like scotch and bourbon.

I will have a cosmopolitan occasionally, but the only other "sweet" drinks I really like are jager and Pernod pastis, particularly the latter.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, sake. Particularly the unfiltered.

Perhaps ironically, it is quite plentiful here in California. And a wonderful product it most certainly is.

Drinking ages need to either be very high or very low. Putting one in the middle generally spells disaster. If drinking ages are super low (or non-existent) then you end up with people that regularly have wine or something similar with dinner and booze becomes a normal thing that rarely gets taken to excess. If you put on a really high drinking age, then once people hit that age, they have a year or so of benders before they mellow out some. However since they are fairly old, they have (in theory at least) the knowledge to keep themselves in check when blitzed. Setting drinking ages at 16-18 gives you 20 year old alcoholics.

I, myself, personally did a fair amount of underage drinking in the 18-20 year range and once I hit 21, my consumption dropped like a rock. By that time I had found my limits and decided that I didn't like being hung over. That and the thrill of doing something I wasn't supposed to do was gone.

Not a huge drinker. Like a beer now and again. Tend to go with stouts but I'll slum it if I have to. To my mind though, if you can see through it, it don't count as beer.

Most recent was a 6-pack of Narragansett Bock that a friend got me for fixing up his PC.

Had a few spirits while playing Wii Rock Band last weekend. Scotch Whisky & Ginger Ale, Bourbon n the Rocks and a few Mojitos.

hint: they're not. 18's a fine drinking age, as is 21 but don't try to speak for the rest of the world

Actually the UK has a scarly growing drinks/Liver problem with people in the 18-30 bracket, and the Goverment just gave the drinks Industry a final warning to sort their house out before they do it for them.

As to me, I haven't drunk a drop since 96, probably never will again, Milkshake and the occasional Lucozade does me fine, never been one to need Alchohol to have fun.
