Test reply 1. Hope this does what it should.
GD is about the size of some hundred people gathering at their hobby.
Was nice there, but without time to wait I guess you can see all in 3 hours.

Test reply 2. I know this sucks
This GD has extra rooms for studio,forgeworld,GoldenDemon-entrys,a hall for the GW tables and some places for events like
speedpainting or marker building.
Golden Demon showcases had real great minis, but were more sieged by photographers than the imperial palace by Horus.
Forgeworld had also more customers than space, about 1,5 to 2 hours to move from the door to the store.( about 10 m!!!).
We got some gaming-groups with their own tables and models there,I guess 7 or 8 of them.Real good work done in terrain and minis, more expierienced play than on the official ones.

Test reply 3. Yes,the always loved triple :S
Main hall:
tables for WHFB: undead, undead and yes undead, didn't notice yet, GW is undead? So a undead vs imperium, undead vs bretonia,
undead olympics => very funny dungeon run , a lizardmen temple CTF, a talisman game with WHFB figs,a chaos duel with all
4 ruinous / demon only.
tables 40k: eldar vs tau on landing pads, ork farm raid, chaos vs entrenched IG+marines, necron mine with imperials and orks,
a imperial city assaulted by tau.
LotR: a siege break from ages before the actual 3 books/movies, a haradrim vs gondor in fortress.
BFG: imperium vs chaos, some mid-sized ships plus escorts each side.
Every hour the DoW II trailer.
Mail order and speed painting contest.

Test reply 4. I think you adapted now
Games were on GW tables most staff vs kiddie, not much to play or even learn there.
Go for the studio, then methinks and was lucky. Got apoc reloaded explained by Phil kelly.
Nice guy but a little too excited about orks nids and eldar.
John blanche came at afternoon, but i don't need any signed art,so wandered away.
GW showed their CAD pics at this GD again, maybe it is a real confirmed mini to come promotion?
Black reach in painted and as sprue, some collectors ed minis, FW actual models and Dark elves.
Nothing new, many of them in WD.
FW had a CAD-draw of a eldar tank,a "one big gun" vehicle.
Good feature in the studio-area was the GW movie with the whole story, from sculping to delivering.

Has it a long 1 barrel gun, maybe taken from a eldar titan?
Don't forget, were talkin about forgeworld, IMHO they had no plastic minis other than GW vehicles combined
with their own work. :S
It took FW a few years to handover the baneblade to GW for plastic kit.But if you have time to wait and money....go for it

All in all, most were not very happy with GamesDay. Being the 10th and having a GW 25 years jubilee, most expected it to be better than the last one, instead it was not as good as the last four.
Due to organization you very often had to wait, and to wait... oh did I mention you had to wait?
Many entries for the GD were not so good and one could see that quite some people tried to get in earlier by handing over e rather lackluster entry.
Also you can stand only so much yelling competitions before you become a raging berserc.
It was not really bad, but one could have expected mor.

A showcase for mini of some staff guys. Was the easiest reachable to get pics, most stuff had more people around than
a great unclean has flies.
Also the only black reach army to be shot. The studios showcase had the sprues openly in and was watched by some greenshirts.

I suppose Australia's population is much smaller, and the country is much bigger, so must be difficult to put on a major show.
Those tables have got some good terrain on.

Thanks for the pics. I went to one GD a few years back in chicago, and made the mistake of riding the GW "party bus" from detroit to chicago and back in one day. I found the actual event underwhelming, and I've never really had the urge to go back. I think it's the sort of fun you have to throw yourself into, you can't just go and check it out.

But Oz ain't like the US. You can really only live in certain parts of the continent, not all over it like the Americans. We all live in the costs, so doing one or two major shows wouldn't be hard (Sydney and Melbourne). Sure the guys in Darwin and Perth would miss out... but they're too far away for us to care.
Anyone from Adelaide can come to the Melbourne one, and the Queenslanders can come down to Sydney for the other one.

If 2 GD's are enough for the whole US, I doubt Oz would get more than 1 GD ? Any GD reachable from you under 12 hours?
Nice advantage of europe: some GD's in different countries, all of them close enough to be visited by some neighbours.

Sehr cool. Thanks for the pics - that Talisman table is awesome! Shame about all the waiting - I've heard Forge World especially has had terrible waits at the last few events.
So were there tournaments or anything, or just a Golden Demon and a bunch of displays and the other events?

North America has 5 Games Days, 4 in the US and 1 in America-Lite (Canada). 2 are on the East Coast, even. Every Timezone gets a GamesDay!
... Cept Mountain time... cause they're backwater hicks!
All united by a common language! (because we're stupid Americans and can only be bothered to speak one. Thus GamesDay Mexico would be utterly useless to us!)
Is there even a Gamesday in the same Hemisphere as Aussieland?

No tournys
Playable displays from GW (opponent => staff) or club-tables.
GW:
No real full game, but some little challenges (undead olympics) or a ongoing battle to play a few turns and handover then.
Problem => most players at GW-tables were kiddies. What you get from the guy that plays before, may not be a functioning army
or even units in a usable formation. :S
Some GW tables had little games (example: 1 tank and 3-4 footsloggin units per side) to be restarted for every challenger.
Fans:
Maybe some of the gaming-groups would play if you have a army to field.
FW: easy for americans, tricky for germans. Most customers had to use the catalogue to classify their order to FW-guys.
GW helped them with some of their own,but the language is FW weakness. (If you sell worldwide, you should take people to
a GD that speak more than english only).

But FW could do better! They were IMHO sold out before GD was closing after 7 hours.
As nice and polite as FW has acted, with more organization, more stuff to sell and more
attention to local language they could deliver a full payload for a 40 ton truck of kits and bitz in half a day!

Well if you want to play with FW models, you have to read English anyway, as none of the books are translated. Having all official GW rules translated is a luxury itself, as I have yet to see a Dutch codex or (full-length) rulebook.

There is a difference between reading and speaking. To sell something it might help if your customer can voice his demands, the
use of pointing at pictures in a catalogue is only a crutch.A third of the shopassistants were from GW(germany), a complete
employment of the not so busy mail order to sell FW parts and models could solve a lot.
No Dutch rulebook? Cannot believe this
Maybe Dutch isn't one of the widely used languages even in europe?
But I'm sure you can use our german or your neighbours french codices and books.
