Ok this was both mine and Ians first game in 5th, we both think we could have picked better forces.. but is there a better way to learn?

after the Table was set up and we rolled to see what our first game would be!
Mission:
Capture and Control on a SpearHead - TableQuarters
I won the roll and chose to set up first and get first turn.

---Turn1---
Chaos started to move along the bottom of the board they opened fire and killed one white stripe (meg) and a dread.
White Stripes moved out and imobilised the
CC dread.
imperial armour guns were all noise and no action!

The Lascanon dread gets all blood lusted and charges the nearest combat squad
Chaos Pred kills two marines in a combat squad they pass their moral
Fire base Dread kills 3 in the tactical squad
They fail their moral and fall back to their hill
the
PMs Rapid fire at the Combat squad that the Blood lust dreads running at, they kill two, they stand their ground and recieve the charge
and are wiped out...
the Imperial armour starts to prove it's worth... a Vindicator wipes out a whole
PM Squad! (...oh noes! how good are they... i want some)
Preditor annihilator fires at my annihilator and destroys it...
his squads run towards my objective
White Stripes dread charges the Nurgle Dread in the center

Chaos Champion invites
and recieves...
Fire base dread kills one more marine.
vindiactors fire again.. killing all but one plague marine in the Greater daemon squad.. and two wounds on the daemon it's self
Preditor annihilator fires at my destructor and blows it's turret off...
and something in Ians force hits glances and shakes my firebase dread...

GD and
PM run for cover
the Dread combat is finally resolved with Ians White strip beast destroyed and mine imobilsed and shaken... yay me... i guess
My three dreads pop smoke...
Ians Terminators arrive and contest the chaos objective...
and open fire killing three
PM
a Vindicators rolls forward and blasts my dread apart
tac marines run about a bit more... this time they remember they need to hold thir own objective and head back home... (first game of 5th!...aka school boy error!)

my Preditor fires its remaining weapons and kills 3 marines!
Plague marines flee to the lower level rapid firing as they go..
the daemon prince and firebase dread charge the terminators... the dread fires his plasma canon but misses killing two of the fleeing
PMs... duh
Deamon prince kills 1 terminator winning the combat... against fearless space marines this could take a while...

SM objective runs up and hides close to the wall... the
GD follows him
Ians Vindicator targets the
GD but misses
SM dread fires at and kills the
GD
Ians Preditor targets the
PM
for the first time in the game
LOS is a close call so I get out the
GW laser... this is Ian using the laser to prove he has
LOS...
I like the new laser/ why do people hate them?!?
there is
LOS but the Preditors gunner misses!... phew!
the Chaplin wounds the Daemon prince and the prince kills another termintor drawing the combat...
We Roll to find out if the game ends... and it does...........
I win 1 objective to none! wooot!
