LOL! I think that since America is a stew of the rest of the world's population, that potatoes are something that find their ways into a lot of dinners, Pasta as well.

They hardly address foods in 40k, except the Cain novels, where it seems he enjoys the rich banquets the Lord General sets.

The dead can be reprocessed into protein. As far as I am aware there are many forgeworlds and hiveworlds where this is done. Can't quote a citation off the top of my head though

well the thing with 40k is chibi the more you know of each faction the more they all look like the same evil barstools...so in a way the nids are the new empire^^

is the saying sitting in a glashouse also working in english?^^ i should have made something worthwhile long ago too^^ to let other feast upon...but well... sometimes i seem only capable of gibberish and nothing productive....

Ah, "corpse-starch rations" was one food item for the masses, nothing fancy, and "Soylens Viridiens" is another, also soybean based protein bars for the IG. Real food for the wealthy.

well soybean is nothing to be sneezed at...after all although it is meatless it is still real food...and no foot...

Well, in the Army, I started with getting C-Rations(canned) and moved to the very first MRE(Meals Ready to Eat) in pouches.Was never 100% sure where the meat portions came from!

urgh...at least we had proper cooked meals... only when on training action we sometimes got nato food...packed and dried and so on food that could probably survive nuclear bombardment... i particulary remember the cookies...and the choclate inside... one was that you don´t need a lavatory in the near future and the other was a meal of last resort...so dry you could seal tankhides^^
but when at the base the food was mostly quite nurishing and good tasting... in fact during my service time i gained about 10kg and i don´t think it was all muscles^^ as there wasn´t that much heavy lifting and marching involved^^

I once knew someone who fought in the war and he saved the entire regiment with a single bullet!

Oh we had cooks making regular meals too, but the rations for being out in combat were "memorable" Plenty of heavy lifting for us! Cable mass bundles are very heavy.

well if you have to do heavy duty you should get feed for the job^^

what i could motivate myself would be a entrenching dio...a smallish force doing the first actions to dig themseves in....

well as i am following bar´s thread of the arvus a maintanance scene would be too a good idea...

And even a set of officers at table with tea served by lower ranks.

that be a killer to do...quite a nice one though... the parts had to be heavyly converted...i don´t own a single bit of a sitting legbit...

Bit of cutting and green stuff for that, field table can be made from card stock. It would look like a piece from another place.

at klaus...yep... i am in a bit of a motivation less state currently... can´t bring myself up to start after the holidays to do some hobby related work... that´s why i am way to chatty these days and not productive...
