Maybe in their rush to undo Dan's stuff, they should instead just take a deep breath, step back and...figure out something better, vs....this?

Still, all just rumor and speculation, so who knows?

Maybe the Legion will still be the ones to lower the shields on the Vengeful Spirit after all?

It makes a logical sense. We will see if it's true with other publications already planned for this year. So far it does look like everyone in BL hates AL.

I am selling an original "Iron Warriors" painting by Karl Kopinski: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/121232313078?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

P.S. And it does look like the Thousand Sons Marine shooting at the Alpha Legion. So the AL gets it's arse kicked again. This is just gets more idiotic with every BL book.

Hah, aye I can well believe that the current crop of geniuses calling the shots at BL could dislike one of the best and certainly one of the most interesting Heresy novels while simultaneously gleefully dribbling out unkillable Salamanders and Emperor's First Space Marine Gene Factory, Emo Edition

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Believe me, I'm with you there.

I love LEGION - and the premise it set up.

(I could do without the twin thing, but, IF Dan kept writing them...)

I still think a TRUE sequel to LEGION, written by Dan, would have been...awesome.

Dan needs to write Penitent first.

I have given up hope on Dan being allowed to write a sequel to LEGION.

And given that Emperor's Children Marine's reaction to seeing "Alpharius"?

Yeah, I want to see Penitent ASAP too!

Biggest fear now is that Penitent and whatever the third book will be called will not live up to my own expectations.

Ah, one thing I forgot: Black Library has these meetings once every while where all the involved authors come together and discuss their next part in a project or in case of the Horus Heresy, the next arc.

I think the bombshells of Legion were very much approved by committee so to say.

Also, it's just very rare for a single author to remain attached to a certain Legion or character, which can be good or bad, depending on who writes what.

Well, yes and no, right?

Gav has become, for better or for worse, the Raven Guard Guy.

And the Dark Angels Guy?

ADB was (and is?) the Night Lords Guy.

I do wish Dan could have stayed the Alpha Legion Guy - but Gav seems to get to use them in every other Raven Guard story nowadays...

I know Chris Wraight does all the White Scars stuff, John French did most of the Tallarn arc and I think Rob Sanders is doing most of the Alpha Legion stuff now.

I wish they'd put Gav on the Dark Angels though, he's pretty good at them, though seeing as he's already writing their 40k stories..

I think the Alpha Legion has been tasked with hunting down the Shattered Legions, can't quite remember, seeing as the current modus operandi on writing them is "XXth Legion is mysterious AF, anything goes, just so long as they peel faces off and have Republic Serial Villain moments explaining their nefarious plots to unbelieving Loyalists."

Automatically Appended Next Post:
It has also occurred to me that the Horus Heresy has become like the stinking pile of gak that is Marvel and DC with their stories and arcs: hard to follow, more and more spread all over the place, inconsistent as hell with some of the arcs being handled by more than one author.

I agree with you in regards to Gav. His Dark Angels writing is much better than his Raven Guard, I just feel his style suits them better. They are quite rigid, as is the Lion. Corax and the Guard should feel more fluid and flexible. They don't feel secretive enough or, I dunno, capable of a surprise attack even though that's what Gav has out forward in the story. I think I prefer Nick Kymes Iron Hand stories to his Salamanders for his writing style again. It seems quite mechanical and I am not sure that he pulls of the sentimentality of the Salamanders well enough. I think he has only written one story solely about the Iron Hands, and that was the one in The Primarchs, but his Iron Hand characters that have appeared in his 30k stories have come across right to me. His 40k Sallies are ok.

Chris Wraight I think I have just been really impressed with the most so far. Scars is an excellent read and what I have read of Path of Heaven has been excellent as well. Pass the reins over to him for EC as well.

This used to be the WB, which I suppose suited them in away, being the architects of it all. Shame that the AL are going the same way, doesn't really suit them at all

Wraight seems to be able to do any legion so far. The Scars are awesome, I love his Russ/Wolves, he handled the Emperors Children really well, and even his snippets of Mortarion have been really cool.

In fact :

Spoiler:

he's angry about not being in the Mournival and/or his fellows not believing him with regards to the threat posed by the Shattered legions

Is that also where he got his nickname from? I think it was already explained in a previous publication, but I can't quite remember..

There was another SoH marine he was close with, and they were nicknamed the Either and the Or. I think. Been a while since I read the earlier stuff, and the Or died early on I think.

From Book 1 or 2 of the HH novels. There were a few pages describing the Either and the Or were captains that not only looked similar, but had similar dispositions, lead "by the book", and were loyal to Horus.

WE uniform was white armour with blue pauldrons; but there were variations. the WE on the cover still has white arms, crotch armour and backpack. It's probably a stylistic choice.

The basic World Eater armour scheme shown in the FW artwork do have blue armour on the back of (and front, depending on the armour mark) their midriff. It's often not very visible and few people paint their models that way (often because they simply didn't notice it I guess)
It's most vivible on Mark II

That picture is weird indeed. I can't recall any event where Corax and he ravenguard fought the World eaters and Alpha legion, and alongside the Thousand sons no less. (Even if the son is on the chaos side, It's still a weird mix of chapters)

Liverpool!

The Thousand Sons presumably have the most scope for Loyalist elements out of all the traitor legions so it's not inconceivable that it's a Loyalist Son.

There's a whole host of them that Magnus sent away prior to the scouring of Prospero, potentially the only Traitor Thousand Sons are the ones on the Planet of Sorcerors and there's a load of Loyalist ones on their way back to help out. Or not, we shall have to wait and see.

I hope Graham McNeill's rumoured Crimson King novel sheds more light on this and is a numbered Heresy novel rather than, as I suspect it will end up being, a Primarchs series release.

"We are the Red Sorcerers of Prospero, damned in the eyes of our fellows, and this is to be how our story ends, in betrayal and bloodshed. No...you may find it nobler to suffer your fate, but I will take arms against it."

...and Alpharius is about to give him one! Woo hoo!

All kidding aside, it sure would be nice if FW would finally get around to releasing that Alpharius model - hopefully with the option for that awesome helmet...

(...and yeah, Dorn needs a model release too!)

Then again, it would also be nice to get some good Alpha Legion stories too...
