so yeah this is my dillema. i went up against it and could barely make a dent on it. whats on my list are mostly fiends and hope for the rending, a soulgrinder with pleghm, KoS, and LoC.

but aside from these i cant see any other way to take out a night bringer. some tips and tricks would be welcome.:]

Yes Nightbringer makes you cry.

Bring a Nurgle DP or Plaguebearers. Takes a while, but they'll kill him.

yeah poisioned attacks, noxious touch will take him down since it bypass's the toughness.
flamers can breath of chaos him to death
skulltaker can instant death him.

oh i always thot c'tans are immune to instant death. but good to know about the nurgle poison weaps.

Thus, the easiest way to kill them is to have the Skulltaker run up and chop its head off.

Of course, if the Skulltaker DOESN'T manage to take its head in one go, he's gonna be in trouble.

I swear C'tan are immune to ID, i'm pretty sure they can't be killed by force weapons and the like.

There is no way to get double strength on the c'tan, so you can't instant death that way. And when the 'con codex was wrote the only thing that caused instant death out right was the wraithcanons, so in the codex GW said they can't be killed outright by wraithcanons... the intent was that they are immune to instant death, They're GODS... but the rules are wrote in such a way that all the new instant death goodies that have come out since the (3rd ed?) 'con codex are not covered by this clause and can take these gods down!

Even claiming RAI is going to tough on this one!

C'tan are only immune to wraithcannon instant death.

If you want to drop the nightbringer, use noxious touch models or the skull taker. These will get the job done.
