Looks like the official rules for the 2008 tournament have just been posted here:
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1860333_40K_Ard_Boyz_Rulz_2008.pdf
And apparently GW is requiring Space Marine players to use the 4th edition codex during the first round and semi-finals, then switch over to the brand new 5th edition book for the finals. Anyone else find that to be more than just a little idiotic?

I like how invitations to the finals can travel down the Semi-finals ladder if players are unable to fly across the country for some reason. That might also make 4th places finishes and such useful to some of us in the more far-flung regions of the country.

No listing of locations as far as I can tell. I've been checking the GW site and googling it every day. Kind of getting nervous that I'm going to be stuck with a 2500 point army and nowhere to play.
It's nice that they're giving away prizes even in the qualifiers though. Did they do that last year? I was on a 40k hiatus so I missed the tournament itself.

Danny-I would recommend calling up local retailers. GW has already been in contact with the independents to find out which ones are interested in/able to host the event. Even if there is no master list, individual stores should have a pretty good idea by now.
I would make sure to check it out to. With no event fee allowed, this is a money looser for stores unless they think it will juice sales enough to offset costs.

So, Armored Companies are legal... but under 5e rules AC's have no scoring units. Makes me curious as to how the missions will work.

True. They'll just have to table every opponent to win.

You get to select an army, and they will ship out 2500 points worth.

Can't armored companies take a couple of tanks for the first two troops then add allied ordos stormtrooper and sister squads?

As a site for this event i tried to ask GW how armored company would work.
First, the missions will be directly from the back of the book. Victory Points will not be used as far as i can tell or have been told.
According to my GW rep (who i dont believe a word of), armored company will get a rule stating that their tanks count as scoring. edited to remove swearing
They dont seem to know what they are doing at all. Considering they claim that the army lists for AC, Kroot Mercs and 13 company are on their website. (not on the US)
Im going to try and contact the man in charge of the ard boyz on monday and try to fix this nonsense.

Don't forget that 'Ardboyz is set up by the sales and distributions department, not the GT team.

I tried to set up an armored company on Army Builder with two demonhunter stormtrooper squads and two witchhunter stormtrooper squads. I'm getting a validation error for both pairs of squads, one saying "Only two WH troop units allowed when taken as allies.", and the other, "Only two DH troop units allowed when taken as allies.". My understanding is that guard or marines may take allies from both demonhunters and witchhunters with no conflict, up to two each. Am I incorrect, or is this just an issue with Army Builder?

Meh after getting the lovely customer service treatment I've come to know and love from GW, I am at a loss as to how to do anything for this tournament but pray that it won't be FUBAR.

Well, I'll be scrambling to build a list that can handle 3-monolith armies, dual lashes _and_ 300-ork hordes. 2500 is a whole different ballgame. The first two are not impossible, but I just don't know how I'm gonna kill that many Orks with the same Eldar list (suggestions appreciated...)
While the challenge of beating lists min-maxed to extreme proportions will be interesting, it's all the oddball options that folks will be tossing in to fill out points that I'm most looking forward to. I feel for anyone with an army that has no anti-psyker options, as people seem to trot out the psyker bling when they go high-points.

I'm only taking 220ish orks, give or take... 300 seems pretty unlikely...

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.
