Genestealers with feeder tendrils are a nice option in 5th Ed, but you only get one feeder tendril head on the sprue. Other than buying more at online Bits stores (which is expensive and all the heads will look the same), any other ideas for equipping whole units?

I'm dubious about greenstuffing them, as dangly tendrils seem likely to get knocked off during battle, so good old-fashioned solid plastic would be preferable. I can see a few other options in my bits box, e.g. skaven rat tails, but wouldn't want to have to pay for vast numbers of them.

I was considering something non-traditional like using dwarven beards or horses tails, i.e. something that isn't tendrils but would look tendrilish when stuck on a genestealer head.

Any other ideas? Maybe tendrils not mounted on the head? Or something that isn't tendrils at all but makes for a fluffy 'counts as' alternative?

Honestly I do not see the promblem with GS tendrils the actual ones are just a solid block hanging down the face and if you model them like that you won't have any problems.

yeah,
GS is the way forward, but if your really ruff with you mins there are a few ways you can help get the GS to stick better.

  • rough up the plastic with a file before pushing the GS onto the model

  • small touch of supper glue before your push a blob of GS in under the chin will make a pretty rock solid join.

  • dril a hole for the GS to get inside and get a hold of the mini

  • even better put a small bit of a paper clip in the hole^ to Pin the GS to the model.

  • PaniC...

Those are nice conversions, but they show just what I'm worried about - skinny little GS tendrils just waiting to be knocked off :(

Think I'll make a couple with non-sticky-outy tendrils, just to see how easy and sturdy they are...
