Is it possible to drop pod a marine squad in and then keep them in the pod. It is a transport vehicle, and it has the capacity to hold marines. It is also open topped so you can fire all your marines out of the pod, but your opponent still has to blow the pod up to get you out. Please tell me if this is complete nonsense. I dont have a marine codex so i cant look this up myself and prove myself wrong.
They do have the new marine codex down at the battle bunker though, so i will go down there and check and ask the staff if this is ok.

No, you can't stay in the drop pod. Because on page 21 of the codex.
"once the drop pod has landed the hatches are blown and all passengers must immediately disembark"
Hope it helps.

Another question in line with this.

How do people play their Pods?

A. Deploy and scatter in its closed configuration and then keep it closed.

B. Deploy and scatter in its closed configuration and then open it up and leave it in its open configuration.

That is a question better to be asked after the GW plastic kit comes out. Right now, there are lots of converted drop pod models. Over the years, I've seen very, very few FW drop pods.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

yeah,
If GW plays it smart to sell more PODs they will rule that it has to open... i've not seen many opening scratch builds.
