it looks cool. But to me it looks more like a statue that has fallen, then a petrified corpse.

agreed. the idea is great but I dont think the petrified corpse would still be in 'macho chaos warrior pose'.
Is it meant to have petrified over time or due to an unfortunate encounter with a gorgon or jabberwock or something in which case it should be posed trying to cover its eyes before being frozen.

I thought it looked like a fallen statue too. It looks very neat. Maybe you can keep it as a fallen statue and use it as a cool base for another mini.

I know about the statue look, but it was just a test of the casting and finishing methods.
I'm eventually going for a pyroclastic cloud event ( like Pompeii ) finally being eroded away to reveal the petrified corpses.
The next test peice will be horizontally mounted, as if a skirmish was enveloped by the cloud.
Nice idea about using it as a base tho, hadn't thought of that !

nope, its a one piece chaos warrior GW used to sell in boxes of 8 and bundle in with paint sets, It is similar to the heroquest one you are thinking of though.

It took me a while to see where the model actually was under that - underneath another figure it would be even harder to see. Nice idea, but it seems like something pretty easy to miss for the work you're putting in.
EDIT; Oh, it's not meant to be a base. Nevermind. Kind of small for a scenery piece though,
EDIT; I also now read 'test piece'.

While it's a more expensive route, I think the new plastic Ghouls would actually be posed well for something like this - not to mention the fact that their being clothed in rags would show the power of blast - that it had blasted any clothing or armor off of them.
I'd also say to go a little less heavy on whatever you used to cover the model with - it's covered enough detail that it's hard to tell that it's a humanoid and not a rock.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack |

I see your point about the flock, I was a little heavy handed, and thanks for the suggestion about the ghouls. I was planning on skeletons for the final peices but the ghouls might just be the better way to go after all.
