I am really curious to how many white dwarfs people have and when they get them, i personally have a subscription and have had always got every white dwarf from when i started and some before that given to me by friends, at the moment i have over 38.
So how many does everyone have?
And how often do you buy them?

55. First one was the release of the current land raider kit and it came with an awesome poster, but that was a few years after I started playing.
I don't buy them anymore because they've been really bad in the past few years - they used the have a lot of community pages, but are now just glorified mail order sections with lame battle reports.

Im in a similar boat to Firangi, I have 25-35 but the ones recently have been very poor. Add that to me going off the hobby for a couple of years, and ive bought only one in the last 2 years.

I literally do have more WD's than BL has space marine books.
While I think they are dreck nowadays, Is till enjoy reading the old issues as they still have great content, even if rules are no longer valid.

I lost count, but its definately more than BL has SM books!
My prize is a 'Best of White Dwarf' compilation from about 1980. Traveller, D&D, 'Monstermark' and an advert for the first ever Citadel Catalogue in the form of an RPG dungeon (It makes sense when you see it)
those were the days....

Too many to count, but I have to say I don't buy every issue, or anything like it, I just flick through, if there's a decent section on Orks, IG, Space Marines (not ultras, an interesting chapter like DA or FT) or some decent stuff on CSM then I'll think about it. Maybe even a section on WHFB Orcs would swing it for me, but if it's a WHFB/ LOTR fest, or all the 40k stuff is about Dark Eldar, Eldar, 'Nids, Tau or Necrons, I'll not be interested so I'll leave it.
This months has to be the best issue I've seen in a long long while, mainly due to the free minis and all the Ork content.

I started reading/collecting 'em in 1996, with issue 195-ish. Had a subscription from issue 200-until about 7 years ago, when the quality really started to deteriorate. Then I started picking them up as one-offs if they had articles I was specifically interested in (Creature Feature, Combat Patrol, etc.). I haven't bought one since Wood Elves came out.

Heh. I did buy the most recent WD issue.
I bought it for the models that were included.
I flipped through the mag, said "Jesus H. Christ on a roman hurt stick, this is bad!" and then threw the mag away.
Pretty sad when the best thing about the mag was the promotion models included with it.

I have every issue from around 36 to 100. Stopped then as the whole "Orange Period" Warhammer stuff (crap sculpting, spikes, ... all of that malarky) really turned me off. Got back into it with LotR in late '01 at which Fat Bloke and all the guys responsible for the general lok and feel of stuff seemed to have realised that painting everything in primary colours and screeming "WAAAAAAGH" was a crap look, and they improved the look and feel of things to the more restrained pallette. Had a slight hiatus when things got really bad around the "BUY THE GIANT!!!1111lolala!" issue, but then resubscribedwith the XXX issue last year. I occasionally pick up old back numbers for 10p from my local second hand gaming store, but just for the laugh really.

The oldest WD that I have is the one where Ghazkhull Thrakka is first introduced in an article where Andy Chambers describes the process of putting together an army of Orks using the rogue trader rules. That inspired me to track down a copy of 40K 1st edition at a used book store, but it turned me off from actually playing the game. I've bought pretty much every one since then, and most likely still have 90% of them, except for those that were destroyed or lost. How did people actually manage to play rogue trader anyway? I can't make head or tail out of it.

1 or 2. Back in 2nd and 3rd edition where they acutally put things in WD that were worth having to add to games, there were some issues that I picked up. However since then I haven't picked any up because I'm not paying for a book of adds.

I have everything from about 130 to 230 or so, then I got out of it for a while and got back into it around 270. I've mostly filled in the gaps with ebay and have got some great deals as many people do collection-only for their old WD collections. My best deal was 25 issues for £15. WD has had some very bad times over the last few years, but these past few issues have been a big improvement and it hopefully seems to be going in the right direction again. It is still pretty bad by the standards of any other magazine but could be worse (UK 316 is definitely the low point).

I'm in a similar boat. I have none now - got rid of them all about 3 years ago. But before I did, I had about 200 of them. My first was 104 and would pick them up here and there for a while, started my subscription around 200 and kept it up for a while, and in the meantime collected a ton of back issues. But now they're gone. Poof.

Sad as it sounds , I have had a subscription dating back to '90 / '91. Around 250 mags.
This past month (Aug.) I let it expire because I just could not justify it any longer. It has become , utterly , useless.
And that is even more sad.

I don't have a single one.
When I first started out around 2000, I had very little hobby money so I would always rather use what I had on miniatures, and I thought the magazine was overpriced even then.
Nowadays, I still would rather spend the money on miniatures.

Maybe one during the month. I started reading them around 108-109 and used to collect them. A few years ago, I realized I never go back through them and they just weren't worth the space. I tossed them. Nowadays, I'll pick up the newest issue, have a read or two through it and throw it in recycling when I'm done.
