Just a quick check on the assembly, did you go about removing the god awful amount of mold lines?
I spent a good while on just the white dwarf models removing mold lines, and after looking through my box for black reach, I'm going to be doing the same for every model in the set x.x...As amazing as the detail and amount of models is, the mold lines on the models are absolutely terrible.
btw, is your avatar a boxer pup ^_^?

haha yes my avatar is a boxer pup, hes nearly one now so hes pretty big
and yes it took so long, but the models were so bodgy i didnt bother spending TOO much time on it, still a lot of mould lines to remove though it was shocking

I've got a fawn that's going to be two come Feb. Best dogs in the world if you ask me!
As long as you get all of the major ones, like those on the outer faces of models, you should be good to go. I'm just a mold line freak at this point and have to get nearly all of them before I move on to assembling x.x...
Looking forward to seeing some photos in progress.
Maybe this could be a spot folks can put their progress with the set up as well.

Nasty Nob on Warbike with Klaw
|
I bought two and traded the marines for Orks, took five hours to get everything freed from the sprues and assembled, and I'm missing three Ork boy heads. (No big problem, I got more in my bitz box. The only real difficulty was the flying bases for the deff coptas. Then went in the trash after I wasted lots of effort and crmped up my fingers trying to force them together. I'll make some of my own from wire. Other than that, they look awesome. Having four warbosses makes me with they still had the rank of Bigboss. Then, I could have a few little units of nobz led by bigbosses and an even bigger, nastier model for my warboss. (I've been eyeing that Ghazgkhull model, even though it's metal.)

I really like the Nobz and 'coptas.

AoBR should be out until 6th edition, I would guess, so about 5 years maybe? Or until GW realizes they are taking a big hit in Dreadnought and Terminator boxes.

I agree, this new starter is literally packed with sprues, not only that but sprues that are very expensive in the multipart versions.

I'm very impressed with the black reach box set.
I really wanted those marines to start my Marine force, and buying another Black Reach Box doesnt sound to bad at the moment, especially since i'm an Ork player.
Converting the Black Reach Ork Boyz doesn't look like it will be too hard. I think i'm going to make some Stormboyz simply because at the moment I don't have any use for 18 more plain Slugga boyz.
I was really impressed with the Nobz. They look really good next to my metal Nobz.
Some of the models seem "flat" when you look at them - but i mean, thats understandable given that many are 2 piece only and of course taking in to account the molding process. But for snap together models, I have to say they're really good.
I'm glad I got templates and a scatter die too! I'm a new player and didn't have any of those yet
What a great product GW has on their hands.
I just need to get to assembling my Sons of Vulcan now...

I've been away all weekend and so far I've been reading the new rules as this is the first copy of 5e I've seen... but I was thinking, the se guys go together a lot easier than normal Ork/ SM mini's right? Due to the press fit thing, so I was thinking, clip, clean up, dry fit, prime, paint, then finally assemble and glue. As long as you don't go mad with the glue should be ok, and makes it so much easier to get the details on the torsos painted right.

The problem I'm running into with them is I really don't plan on running a unit of Nobs by themselves. So I plan to use them as leaders for my boyz units and I want to give them powerklaws.. but I need to find some quick, cheap and easy means to convert them to powerklaw totin killers.. Anyone with any suggestions?

BFM came out in 2004, so it's been about 4 years, give or take a few. Though it was more like 6 years between 3-4th ed., I'd expect the shelf life to be about the same.
Sorry to hear about the mold lines. :(
Looking forward to seeing progress pics.

Plastic Spore Mines. Terrain. Loads of easy-to-make Gaunts. Plastic Tranid Terrain to use as a Biovire. The dude with the pistol makes a great Inquisitorial Henchman model. The little shield generator thingies make great objective markers.
Hell, I even play Marines, so they were useful.
No, Battle for McDonald's was a very good deal for some people. Assault on the Black Lagoon is nice, but as someone who doesn't play Orks and has no need for another Tactical Squad, the new box isn't the best thing in world for me.

I think the full size Nobz are too large to use as Nob leaders of a Mob, but thats only from a fluff standpoint.

I'm planning to use those spiky gauntlet things that come with the plastic ogre sets as a base for my PKs. I'm still just in the planning stages though, so no pics.

So, I'm not the only one with a migraine from plastic glue this morning.
I've converted the Sgt to have a real back banner instead of that dinky thing, whatever the hell it is (pus added a PW), magnetized both the dread to accept a MM or TLLC, and one of the termies to switch between a SB and a spare (metal) assault cannon that I had. I need to pick up another WD so I can get a spare termie to add my CML to, so I can have all the options (I'll get a hvy flamer from somebody). I'm taking the terminator sgt, and I'm going to make him a termie captain, probably magentized as well. I've already got two captains for my force, so I might convert Sicarius into a librarian.

I had done power klaw conversions out of 2 of the plastic chain-choppas from the boyz sprue, a couple of ork knives, a little plasticard and some plastic rod.
Here's a how-to pictorial I did over at the-waaagh.com - http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30595&hl=power++klaw++how
