My FLGS is running the 'ard boyz tournament as a kitchen sink 2500 pt. bash. No organizational rules will be applied. A bit odd isn't it?

Oh god, I don't envy you playing in that. The abuse that's open to is sickening.

I would so love to see that. It would surely be a thing of beauty (at least to an ork player ).

Especially 11 thirty ork squads with a PK nob, that would be fantastic to see. What a Waaaaaaaaaaaaagh

Woah, wait a minute, who said there were no organization rules?

GW is organizing this tournament and their rules specifically state that the lists must be LEGAL.

The only difference between this and a normal GW tournament is there is no comp score, and no sportsmanship.

According to GW, it's an "open list" tournmanet--whatever the hell that means.

Open list means that you don't hide your list from your opponent. If he wants to see it before the game, he can read it. In fact, you should bring 4 copies of your list, 1 for you, and 1 copy for each of your opponents.

Open list DOES NOT mean that you don't have to use a force organization chart.

There's nothing in the 'Ardboyz rules pack that suggests you aren't playing a legal game of 40k, using regular 40k rules. It's up on the website.

I'd suggest your store talk to it's sales rep, if they have a question. All of the 'Ardboyz tournies should be run the same way.

Yeah, my FLGS on the other hand is running it with 2 FOC. I think it's annoying and uneeded, but whatcha gonna do? I agree with the uniformity commentay, it SHOULD all be uniform. However, in life we must adapt sometimes.

Let them run the tourney the way they want....

It will be unfortunate that any games they play will be unhelpful for practice/perfecting armies for possibly the 2nd and definatly the 3rd rounds.

Personally, I wouldnt even play at a locale thats offering that amendment to the 'Ard Boyz, since it WOULDNT BE anymore. They arent conforming to the rules packet released by GW. It's not an 'Ard Boyz tourney, if its not following packet rules.

No FOC....stupid.

166 lootas. Ouch.

I'd love to see an army of 38 rokkit buggies and 50 big shoota buggies, all not in squadrons. They can't take objectives, but just try killing all that!

18 exorcists anyone?

How 'bout 11 mobs of 3 meganobz with 11 warbosses in mega armour? That all count as scoring?

I know you have to buy all this crap, but really...

Well if my black reach swap falls through I won't have the points no matter how cheesy I make a list. If it does come through I will be showing up with a legal, standard list. Where else am I going to get 3 games in on a Saturday?

edit: I'd raise the issue with the FLGS but I don't want to ruffle any feathers at my default gaming location.

Forget ruffling feathers. What happens when people "win" at this crap tourney and move onto the next stage. You're doing them a disservice by NOT insisting on the proper rules.

They hit the table and phase out. Sweet.

You would have to reduce the necrons to 25% of their original strength to force phase out. No necrons means nothing to reduce...

...Oh, and to heck with ruffled feathers. If this is the only store in the area and they're pulling this stunt, you would be doing them and the customers a favor to straighten it out with a phone call. Otherwise you'll have one happy abusive player and a store full of pissed off losers.

Well I guess that's one way to allow players to literally buy their way into the second round of the tournament. Whoever's willing to spend the most money on crap they can't normally use wins!

boosts sales, but kills a kid when he cant use that army again.
should be sorted out.

if i had to play this then it would be as many ork tank bustaz as possible, all with rokkits.
since most people would be going LR heavy.

25% of zero is zero, instant phase out.

How many orbital bombardments could you take in 2500 points? You could piss some folks off doing that. Draw every game and never even put a model on the board.

Ahhh, but the army must be reduced to 25% or less of the original number of necrons. Zero can't be reduced...

Just got off the phone with GW. I was told in no uncertain terms that if the store wants to run army lists without organization charts that was up to them. I was also told that army lists can be changed from one round to the next. This is from the GW customer service hotline. I asked, "So if I just want run 30 Ork warbosses in the first round I can--and then I can do a proper list for the second round if need be?" The response was, "yep--it's the stores prerogative on how they want to run the first round." So there you have it.

From the round 1 scenarios .pdf http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1870341_40K_Ard_Boyz_Round1_Scenarios.pdf

Note: If your opponent does not have any units of a
particular type (IE they have no Fast Attack choices)
then you automatically receive the battle point
modifier for destroying them.

Wow. I just wish that meant something. Good on you olympia, I respect you for trying to find the "final word" answer to the issue, however calling GW cust serv for answers is like asking a toddler. The answers don't always match, are rarely related to the rules, have no enforcment capability, and are therefore useless. Heck man, I just called them myself, and they told me in stern terms that there is a strict limitation to 1 FOC. No questions, no issues, just 1 FOC.

Has this ever been an issue with other tourneys in the past? I've heard of a lot of problems with tourneys, but this question of FOC's is a new one on me. Has this been an issue in the past with any other official GW tourneys?

Bottom line, if GW contradicts itself--NO WAY!!!--the hosts of the tournament can do whatever they want. I guess the whole tournament is just an incentive to get people to spend $ at their FLGS. No FOC does seem mildly slowed to me. Oh well, I will still go and get my ass beat.

edit: I just asked my toddler and he said, "playdoh car dumptruck"

You must follow the FOC chart.

Remember that how you word a question often determines the answer you get, so thats why answers are not always consistent.

Did you call Customer Service or did you call Direct Services?
