Behold, the Minotaur.

And some Kreig dudes with a mini-mole mortar and that drill thing.

The part I like the least is the need to stick those blasted fiddly plastic tracks onto the Malcador chassis. They're bad enough when you can use plastic glue... but having to super-glue them on? Forget it.

hmm i can see how the tracks will be a bitch, tbh i don't midn the look of the minotaur and i am tempted to grba omne instead of my enclosed basilisk

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

Am I the only one who is starting to get burned out on IG super heavies?

Where is the huge Tzeentch Deamon we have been waiting for?

Or a reasonable priced Tau Superheavie that is more tank then Manta wannabe?

Or Ork Baneblade Conversion kits?

Or Space Marine Venerable Dreadnoughts for Blood Angels, Space Wolves, etc?

Or Dark Eldar anything?

On this topic, I'd really like to see some better Ork models from forge world. I like their Ork aircraft, the battlefortress, the squiggoths, and the grot bombs...but thats about it.

The looted vehicles they have are boring, the gunwagons are boring, none of them scream Orky.

I am also very burnt out on IG tanks. I understand they have lots of variation and all that, but there has to be a limit...

I also anxiously await the Lord of Change model. I would also love to see some crazy Daemon Engine or some Defiler upgrade kits to personalize that more.

It seems to come with Vraks renegade crew rather than Imperial...

As a traitor guard tank, I think it's pretty nice. It'd fit in with the Malcador.

Minotaur looks ok, I think it would look way better with a spiffy paint job. So, is that a twin linked earthshaker? They prolly just used the plastic tracks to make it easier and have 1 less thing to make in resin.

Love it. This is just what I need to finish my artillery company. 2 or 3 of these would make an awesome Basilisk company centerpiece.

I love the rearward firing, the whole thing reminds me of those big fat artillery bugs from Starship troopers. You waddle up to position, present your ass to the enemy, and serve them hot fiery death from your rear-quarters. God bless the man who made mooning both fun and practical in the modern battlefield. And with all those big plates we may actually see an Imperial Guard Vehicle that doesn't have gak for rear armor.

I'm not sold on the curves though. Little too fluid to have come out of the Imperium. Hell, the back is a little too fluid for the front. Rear is all curves, front is all hard angles, it's like two different people designed this vehicle and met in the middle.

Still, I'll have atleast 1, probably 2, maybe more. I wish I could say I was excited to see the rules, but I already know almost exactly what they are, all that remains are the points costs and AV.

Hrm. Wonder if they'll do something similar with Demolisher cannons or the Macharius hull. See this is why I hate Forge World. I had the same problem with the Macharius, and now I'm shy about buying anything that can reasonably and easily be made into a cooler variant. Bah.

The Hades breacing drill and mole mortar are cool. They were cool when I first saw them 3 months ago. They continue to be cool. Wish we'd got a little taste of the rules...

Doubt this will happen in the near future. During Epic Armageddon, Jervis showed himself to be a fan of the idea that aircraft served as the Tau's counterpart to superheavy tanks/titans. The guys at FW also seemed to support this idea through the models they released.

That's one ugly, but well detailed hunk of resin. The mole mortar looks pretty cool though. I'm gonna agree with Mahu though, IG tanks are starting to get very boring. You can only slap the same guns in different combos so many times on a tank. I'm waiting for the super lasgun battery tank with "hurricane lasguns" everywhere.

The idea for a Superheavy IG Tank mounting 2 Earthshaker cannon isn't a bad idea.

The execution is horrible. The tank drives into battle bass-ackwards, has to 180 to fire? And when it fires, there's no recoil absorption?

As a wannabee WW1 tank it isn't bad, but that's only because WW1 tank designers didn't know their asses from their elbows.

If anything, the only ideas Forge World are running out of are ideas on how to make the already abysmally bad GW tanks worse, from a real-life combat perspective.

And lord knows I love it. Somebody help me.

Edit:

You know what this thing really reminds me of? Those excessively large, mostly useless, but damned impressive looking Rail-Guns from WWI and early WWII. The big honkers that were mounted on railroads and hauled around by train. You know, Big Bertha and the Paris Gun? Those things were also horribly convoluted and poorly designed, just for the sake of more firepower on a mobile platform. And they kinda had the same gothic feel. Seriously, can't you just see the Minotaur with wheels instead of tracks, mounted on a railway?

on a more serious note, i think they should start building up every army on FW, IG now have 10X as much as anyone else.

He dares you.

You know usually I'm the first person to mention that it's IMPERIAL Armour when people start complaining about the preferential treatment the Imperium (and mostly the Guard) get. But after looking at the Minotaur I'm starting to agree, a little Xeno-tech here and there can't hurt. Granted the Eldar Cobra MkII is a big step in the right direction, but I mean.. how many Imperial tanks have been released between the Cobra and the last Non-Imperial vehicle? I don't even remember what the last one was.

But you'll never catch me complaining. I love the extended Guard Motor-Pool like a fly loves cowpie. It's all so good and you'll NEVER go without a fresh supply.

The problem of turning 180 before firing isn't supposedly a major drawback on a powered artillery vehicle that's supposed never to come within direct LOS to the enemy. It's not a proper tank, just a semi-mobile artillery piece.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The Brits used the Archer tank destroyer in WWII, and it was just a 17-pdr mounted over the back of a Valentine chassis. They found it useful for ambushing enemy tanks and then driving away quickly. If a tank destroyer can make a backwards gun work, a SPG should be able to as well.

Today I didn't even have to use my hot-shot las; I gotta say it was a good day.

I was asking myself the same thing. Why don't I like this?

It's because it's got a lot of flowing molded lines. Other IG stuff is boxy, stocky, and not ergonomic at all. This looks more like art nouveau or rokoko influenced designs. They don't fit together style wise, thus it becomes jarring.

(THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK)

It's a neat looking tank, though not particularly functional. It would fit well in a traitor guard force, it just screams that classic 10 thousand year old da vinci era stuff that chaos guard seem to love.

Unfortunately it looks nothing like the rest of the tanks in the guard armory so it doesn't really seem to have a place in it.

The issue with ork kits is that the ork vehicles themselves are basically meant to be conversions. There isn't as much demand for something that costs 200$ when no one looks at you strange when you make it out of Eggo waffles and toilet paper rolls at home instead. More necron or eldar stuff would be nice though.

The Macharius' tracks are moulded onto the sides, and it works fine. I don't know why they needed to go and add the worst part of plastic Guard tanks to this resin one.

Fanboy moment alert:

I love the Minotaur. Love the guns, love the exit ramp, love the hull. Really gets into that between-world-wars siege piece feel. I feel exactly the opposite of those who (mistakenly) feel that this vehicle should is "facing the wrong way"- it's not supposed to be mobile at all! However, as a static-fire piece, it really needs stabilizers, even with all that mass. Otherwise very cool, and the detail inside is awesome.

And the mole mortar team is really cool. The crewman programming the mortar is exactly the tech/throwback mix that makes 40K so fascinating. If I ever go Krieg (ie hit the lottery), I'm going to have to buy a couple of these.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
