C'mon kids. I don't do this for my own enjoyment.

I dont know how good two 10 deep ork units would do. I would make them in to one unit. Unless your friend is going to use them to hold objectives with. Other than that the list looks all right. He might want to think about taking some lootas or loot tank with boom cannon.

Don't Nobs take two spaces in transports? Also, what ware the tank busters doing? They seem out of place.

take out tankbustas or free up enough points for a full squad, the bigger the better, as well the 300pts worth of nobs i wouldn't take, increase the squad sizes and add more power klaws. maybe get rid of nobs and get trukks for ork mobs or get some mega armoured nobs?

and is this list competitive or non-competitive? footslogging, mech or shooty?

whats the style of play

cheers,
gutteridge

I persoally think tank busta's are too expensive, for the points, and that the points are better spent in scoring units. I would also make an attempt to beef up those small boy squads, orks strength is in #'s. maybe drop one of the three fast attack choices. I like the beefy nob squad, but if your going to put that many points into them, I would deffenetly find the points for a pain boy, it's a cheep upgrade to give an already 300 point squad feel no pain. have fun : )

The Hammer

Does your buddy have any play instructions for the list?
Lacking those and indulging in a little theoryhammer (plus being a little too lazy or chemically disinclined -nudge wink to the other grown-ups reading this - to bother looking at my torrent or Codeii) what about having him roll the two small boyz squads into one and rolling the tankbustas and warbikes into another big boys mob. With 4x20 boys, he can checkerboard in the open in lieu of using a dread screen. This post ought to make you feel a little better about suggesting this course of action, which I know you both have both: a) all ready thought about, and b) consider to be pure Provolone. He'll still have the SAG and Dethkopta. Another thought for when he gets a little more cash is to get rid of the truck and maybe a few other odds and sods (me telling you how to wield a knife to a list is like the average prison shankster trying to give an anatomy lesson to Jack the Ripper) and get a battlewagon or three. Maybe I can say something a little smarter under better mental conditions and with a read through of the Ork and Necron Codeii - I'd want to reread Living Metal before going too crazy.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

OLD MAN ULTRAMARINES' BASEMENT

the main problem i see with the army is tankbusters. One: They are crap. Gloryhogs is one of the worst abilites in the codex. you have to shoot at ANY vechile that is in LOS there is no escaping it. so if they drop a vechile, and it is in LOS you can't run, you have to shoot. so, i think you buddy can drop the tankbusters for another squad of boys, or what i like to use is kommandos for killing tanks. but to make the kommandos really effective, you have to use snikrot, he is very easy to custom make, nob body, 2 knifes, or swords w/e, and yeah, go from there. he also is very usefull for taking out the really shooty armies, IG, Tau, and Eldar. I run 14 kommandos, with 2 burnas and snikrot, it is total, 255pts. Pretty cheap for the power you get with that squad. Also, Lootas are really nice to have, i run 8, but you can run more if you wish. Other good items are warbuggies, battlewagons, and lotted wagons. Use the battlewagon to transport some meganobs. Put a deffrolla on the battlewaggon for some fun with tank shocking. If the waggon blows up, they then have to deal with meganobs which = Terminators, but better. LOL. Also, take advantage of combi shoota/schorcha's in your nob's squad. right before you get into hand 2 hand you waste it. I hope this makes it alot easier on your self overall. Also drop the bosspoles, IMO they are completly worthless. most of your stuff only has one wound, and most of your stuff has a 6+ save, so yeah, its bad. For now, that is all i have. Hope this helps your buddy!

They do not take 2 for a transport, only if they are in mega armour, FYI

Lose the tankbusters. Your deffkoptas are mobile TL rokkit launchers and with their mobility you can work for side shots.

Personnally, add the mad doc to the nobz squad, feel no pain is the only way this unit is worth it. Otherwise split the points and take two units of burnas or two units of lootas... That is all personal preference of joining the assault or shooting em up from distance.
I would really recomment lose the two 10 boy squads or fill them out.

While I commend him for playing the shokk attack gun, I really think the big mek with the shield generator is a better play. The shokk atttack gun just screams orky technology but it is really undependable.

Another thing with 5th ed rules, look at grots. One unit of grots is about the equal to putting heavy armor on the one you are allowed for the boyz squad. With a skirmish line of grots and the big mek somewhere in range, your grots have a 5+ invulnerable. Meanwhile your ork boyz have a 4+ invulnerable if they are behind the grots.

A trukk will die, if you have the points, look at a battlewagon, put the gun on it and it still holds 12 figs... hmmm warboss, big mek, 9 nobz and a pain boy. Hmmm with a deathroller... yes, yes. Let's tank shokk... OOh OOh!! Lets get two more battlewagons with big gunz and death rollers and run down more things... <slap> Oh sorry I got carried away there. But really one vehicle will make the day of most armies, field at least 3 or don't play them. And for those points, if you like, take another nob squad with a troop choice and give them one nob with a claw and their own pain boy. Now you have two hard hitting units and truthfully orcs run pretty darn well and don't need a ride just make sure it is right be for you pop your Waaagh.

Think about klaws for the boy squad nobz instead of the big choppa. The claw goes last but it goes last with 19 to 29 other boyz around him. Worst thing for an ork boyz squad is an eldar wraithlord or a marine dreadnought just locking you up in hand-to-hand.
Now we have a 100 to 130 point dreadnought sucking up maybe 130 points of orks. Sounds like a fair trade but you can't wound either of them except with a lucky hit by the nob and the wraithlord will be getting his 3+ armor save. All that is out the window with the claw.

I too would look closely at snikrot and the kommandoes or the vulcha boyz. Either of those gives you a great attack unit that you can throw at your opponent where they usually don't like to see orcs.
